Luke, please talk about Snowden’s Kaufman article.

I second that man.
I know many people out there don’t have much love for women’s mma. I for one love the fighting spirit, male or female, and I just enjoy a good fight.
Was Sarah Kaufman out of line Friday night? I am a fan of Pat Miletich’s commentating but there an underlying dismissive tone to his words.
The more you drive, the less intelligent you are.
I thought Inception was fantastic was wonderful, FWIW.

I loved it. It’s open for interpetation. I assume you’re reffering to the spinning top?

yeah i was. i thought the same. like how it was left to interpretation. im guna say he was dreaming cos the ending was so happy for him and it was just how he pictured it would happen with them playing in the garden and turn around.
Mir, Nightmare , Axe Murderer , Bones
I think he was still dreaming as well, because the children hadn’t aged, and the top was still spinning. But if you notice, as they start to pan out, the top starts to wobble a little. So it’s open to interpetation. The ultimate point was that he ended up back where he wanted, and was happy.

yeah i loved the slight wobble but all we saw was it keep spinning so we have to assume it never dropped. great ending never the less. gotta love nolan. great director.
Mir, Nightmare , Axe Murderer , Bones
Nolan is brilliant. The Prestige, The Dark Knight and now Inception have all been solid gold.

I loved Inception too, there’s a great deal of interpretations. My fuzzy side wants to think that the top fell over, but once you think about it, you could even make the argument that it was actually HIM that was dreaming all along, considering how others find their way into his own limbo, I’ve read a few really good interpretations and theories, I think thats a mark of a great movie, where you leave the audience thinking, but they’ll be satisfied with the closure they choose for themselves.

Interesting concept, that the entire film is a dream. One could make the argument, with the way the film opened.

What really got me thinking they could be on to something with that, is that throughout the whole movie you see people pushing Leo’s character towards something. Asian dude with the “leap of faith” and not wanting to give him the job, and having Leo ask for it himself, then with his wife Mal. Could be that it was actually inception being done to his character. Also worth noting for that theory is that he was popping things into a dream that was not his own, like the big fucking train in the middle of that street.
I’d have to watch it again with intent of actually figuring it out from the start to know what I really think, I just know I loved the film in a bunch of ways.

Is it really asking too much for the #1 fighter in the world in their weight class to main event a Challengers card over Lolohea Mahe?

It’s not like it’s just some chic. Sarah Kaufman is the consensus #1 fighter in that weight class. She’s not just some bum who Strikeforce slapped a belt on.

I'm just copy pasta-ing from my comment on galsguidetomma
Going into the fight she was a ratings nightmare. Unfortunately she wasn’t a destroyer like Cyborg nor is she good looking like Carano. The reality is that wmma isn’t as popular as men’s and Strikeforce can’t afford to promote a title fight with a female who actually loses viewers. Especially when their entire promotion is dependent on ratings on CBS and Showtime. I would expect more leeway with Challengers ratings than Strikeforce on Showtime, which I think is the reason she’s relegated to said shows.

Exactly. I’m not saying she should main event a CBS card, but she can atleast get on one of the less stacked Showtime cards.
Kaufman is exciting and finishes fights. Plus, she’s kinda cute.
I’m not even saying she needs to be on the main card of a CBS card. She can be on the main card of a Showtime card, or main event a Challengers card. Just don’t co-main her on a Challengers card under a bum like Lolohea Mahe.

Fortunately for him Zuffa can eat a disappointment on PPV
Strikeforce can’t risk poor ratings on CBS or their main Showtime cards. That can break their business. You’re not dumb, you have to know this.

Thank god you are saying it Luke.
People need to stop saying that they should kill the ratings just to appease Kaufman because she has a title. That title doesn’t mean enough yet to sacrifice the ratings. Whether people like it or not the ratings matter a great deal.
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
Tim Sylvia, the most boring UFC champion ever, main evented over Tito Ortiz and Brock Lesnar, because he was champion.
Check out my MMA highlight videos!
http://www.dailymotion.com/WheelchairBandit
That was Lesnar’s second pro fight. It would have been silly to main event with him before anybody knew if he was legit. And the Griffin/Ortiz bout took place before Sylvia had the terrible reputation that he does now. (He’d finished six of seven UFC wins at that point.)
The Sylvia-Nogueira fight wasn’t even promoted on the commercial for UFC 81. The whole promotion for that card was Lesnar and Mir. Still, Sylvia was the main event.
Check out my MMA highlight videos!
http://www.dailymotion.com/WheelchairBandit
Yeah, Lesnar was the real draw there, but it still wouldn’t have made any sense to main event with a guy in second pro fight. I’m guessing that was the main consideration, not “we have to put the title fight on last because that’s just how it’s done.”
(And Sylvia wasn’t champion for that fight, by the way—the interim title was up for grabs.)
Anderson had Chuck Liddell, Forrest Griffin and BJ Penn to help him on those cards in 2009 FWIW.
Check out my MMA highlight videos!
http://www.dailymotion.com/WheelchairBandit
the ufc have had to pad him with big names for a while so people dont see how bad a draw he actually is. look at the card beneath him for his next fight!! compare that to the fights below brock lesnars last fight.

Remember UFC 73?
Sean Sherk and Hermes France fought for the Lightweight strap and they came on BEFORE Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans, which was a non-title fight.
What’s the argument now playboy?
Forget it Donny, you're out of your element.
Hard to call that one as it was a multiple fight card. I recall that Silva vs Marquardt and Sherk vs Franca were promoted as the two big fights and Ortiz vs Rashad and Nog vs Herring 3 were the two other fights.
I think it’s just the way the bout order worked out. Jon Fitch vs Paulo Thiago fought after GSP vs Thiago Alves at UFC 100.That’s how it works on big cards with lots of title fights.

Hey I'm not getting snarky with you so lay off the attitude
I know exactly what you’re saying…but being #1 in a weight class where there isn’t enough high level talent to even have rankings doesn’t really say much. She has a belt. You think she should headline cards. Unfortunately you don’t understand business or television and live in a world of ideals instead of reality where poor ratings in the final hour can mean their TV deal gets ended.

Are you really just not reading what I'm saying?
If you don’t deliver the ratings you lose your network deal. This is why CBS is hesitant to put on another card after the 3 championship bout card. Strikeforce can’t afford to just promote people who are elite if they don’t deliver. End of story.

Sarah Kaufman being in the main event of a Challengers card isn’t going to be the difference between life and death for Strikeforce. Doing stupid business deals with guys like Fedor, and putting on stinker shows on CBS like the Nashville show are what’s going to kill Strikeforce.

Okay I'm gonna say this one more time since I've said it at least 4 times already
You have more leeway with Challengers cards than Strikeforce/CBS but they still matter. You want to end strong and prior to last night Kaufman has been less than stellar. While you care about WMMA most people don’t. I don’t care about it and a boring women’s fight to me is worse than a boring men’s fight. This is the general consensus amongst fans. Strikeforce is already walking on eggshells due to Challengers 6 and the 3 championship bout card on CBS so they can’t afford to have poor numbers. This is why they are signing Batista. She’s the #1 fighter in a weight class where the talent is not elite (same issue with 145) and doesn’t deserve top billing on any card.

Yep and I've already addressed that point.
If you wanna keep throwing insults that’s fine but at this point I’m thinking you lack basic reading comprehension. You brought up how 700 people agree with you when that’s far from the case, more people were offended by Snowden saying “she should be happy she even gets to fight” (I’m taking some liberties but that was essentially what he said) and how it came off completely sexist. Notable offended members were Subo/Animal/Blackout. They weren’t angry about here spot on the card.

Junkie reports...
This past weekend’s Strikeforce Challengers 7 event, which featured notable prospects such as Lavar Johnson and Miesha Tate, drew a 1.0 rating and a total average audience of 316,000 viewers on Showtime, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) confirmed with an industry source.
Compared to February’s Strikeforce Challengers 6 event, which averaged just 150,000 viewers, ratings for the March 26 event were up a staggering 111 percent.
Nearly 300,000 Showtime viewers tuned in for this past Friday’s Strikeforce Challengers 8 headliner between MMA legend Matt Lindland and middleweight prospect Kevin Casey.
Ratings information obtained by MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) shows a peak audience of 294,000 for the May 21 headliner.
Overall, the show, which took place at the Rose Garden in Portland, Ore., averaged 249,000 viewers.
In addition to the night’s main event, Strikeforce Challengers 8 featured some of the organization’s top prospects. Tyron Woodley, Nathan Coy, Roger Bowling, Bobby Voelker, Tarec Saffiedine and Pat Healy were all featured in televised main-card bouts.
Compared to recent Strikeforce Challengers events, this latest show posted a respectable number. Strikeforce Challengers 6, for example, averaged just 150,000 viewers in February.

Hmm it's good enough for ESPN.
I think a lot of this Anti-Kaufman and Anti-Woman’s MMA is just sexism, pure and simple.
Lots of fighters have boring fights, so what if Kaufman one or two. That’s MMA.
If there is any one single reason not to cover/promote their fights other than them being female that you couldn’t make an example with any other male fighter than you’re just being sexist.
