Quote of the Day: Roxanne Modaferri "I Lost and I Cried"

Photo

I lost and it sucked. It helped that I really like Sarah as a person.

The worst thing is feeling that she was better than me. Much physically stronger and a crisp striker, right? I hope for a rematch one day, but I have to improve my skills.

Yes, I cried....one time. That time was when I got out of the shuttle bus at the hotel and was suddenly surrounded by a crowd of people, congratulating me and shaking my hand and telling me how well I did.

They were Sarah's Zuma people. They were so nice to me! I know they were happy because their girl beat me....but they were so nice and telling me that I had a nice fight even though they were rooting against me...and just...I cried. I was so touched.

Thank you. Thank you everybody who supported me, and us, and...I won't be like "I let you down" because I know I'm not going to lose any fans oevr this. I wish I had come out the victor, but you know. Stuff happens....like getting DROPPED ON YOUR HEAD...............

yeah. I had a lot of fun on this trip. I met a lot of people.

and But I still love MMA.

For professional reasons, I generally try to avoid singling out fighters as personal favorites of mine. As far as I can recall, I’ve only done it once, with Big Nog.

Now I’ve done it twice.

Why NOT Big Nog?

From all reports she (Cyborg) pretty much only spars men, and has been known to put some out during training. - Rudinho479

Humble and Classy

Shame she had to lose. She seems like such a nice person. Even worse she was KO’d. I can only imagine how embarrassing it must feel and to carry herself the way she did is testament to good character.

She is very a very likable person and...

…the honest, happy, nerdiness is oddly a little attractive.

Big ups to Roxy. She’s a very good fighter and seems to be an even better person. And can you fix the spelling of her name? It’s Modafferi, not Modaferri.

Zuma is like 5 blocks from my house

I should really start going there.

Sarah only teaches female classes though.

Props to Zuma and Roxy

This is untrue; Sarah usually works with Adam on many of the classes and take over on her own when Adam isn’t there. She’s a great instructor.

Roxy’s awesome. All class all the time, just like Sarah. It’s a shame that this matchup is being shit upon by some, but Roxy deserves everyone’s respect, win or lose. Good stuff.

I don’t know what she has to be sad about – she won the first and if things had gone just a little different In the third she might have gotten the sub.

All I know is that she’s a true warrior and a credit to MMA.

Roxy

Don’t worry, Tito cries after losses too. At least you didn’t run out of the building like Forrest did. Seriously though I like fighters that are devastated by a loss. It shows the passion they have. I love Roxy and I think she has the true Martial Artists spirit. She’s the female Ronin.

Her latest post on The UG
I had a great time at Strikeforce. Except for the end. LOL That was a pretty cool slam, though…too bad I was on the receiving end. _;; My head doesn’t hurt… just kind of sluggish, but it could be jet-lag and lack of sleep as well.

I learned a lot from that fight, technique wise. She used her head really really well in the clinch, for example. And was really good at deflecting and neutralizing gnp.

I want to thank everyone of you guys and gals who are fans for being nice to me and supporting me. And to the writers and photograpehrs and media for working hard to cover the events, and to Strikeforce promotors and sponsors for running their businesses and making this sport work. It takes everyone to keep the sport of MMA going and growing.

And thank you to Sarah. You’re a good champion and a great representative for the sport, not to mention for the women’s side of the sport, too.
(p.s. That was cool how you ducked under my spinning back-fist…LOL)
