You can sure bet Erin isn’t mentioning hers. Sarah was saying on tapout radio that Erin probably walks around at 200.

Hence why I'm not as optimistic about her chances versus Cyborg

Simply due to the questions about Toughill’s ability to even get that title fight at this point.

by Chortles on Jul 23, 2010 2:29 AM EDT up reply actions

Toughill is a MUCH better striker than Cyborg……..but the fact that she’s more into being a diva than fighting worries me. She’s just not that interested in fighting. Her weight is all over the place and she’s been really inactive. If she was in shape and fighting actively I’d pick her over Cyborg all day long. These days, not so much.

That's sad :(

Erin has the skillset to beat Cyborg too.

by Polyhedron on Jul 23, 2010 3:59 AM EDT up reply actions

Too bad for her then that Cyborg's hungrier...

… enough to actually make weight (for a title fight anyway).

At this point Toughill will have to beat Shana Olsen in non-bullshit fashion (not impossible or even improbable, just saying that a “crappy” win can screw it up), actually get booked to challenge Cyborg, make weight and not get into some disagreement with Strikeforce again.

by Chortles on Jul 23, 2010 4:26 AM EDT up reply actions

Yeah but Cyborg is Cyborg

Really man, Cyborg will always be dominant, she’s Cyborg! I’m just glad Strikeforce offers women’s MMA so we can even have this discussion cough UFC

I’m sick of giving the sportsbooks money through dumb baseball bets. Not much confidence in this being a great card, but I will give Voelker (155) and Abongo (155) a shot.

I am maybe 30-45 mins from Comcast Arena

But I have other commitments so I won’t go to the event but I’ll see if there’s any serious coverage coming along.

If the excitement gets too exciting I bet Mauro’s screaming will reach my home.

I think tickets are priced at $22, $42, $62, and $102

And I haven’t read anything that says the arena has sold out.

I still wanna see a Del Rosario vs. Lashley matchup

but I don’t recall how much Lashley usually comes in weighing. Would Shane be giving away alot of weight?

Rooting for Roxy here :)

Good lord, that talk about learning about someone by fighting with them… as if more ammo was needed for the “weeaboo!” rumor mill.

by Chortles on Jul 23, 2010 2:28 AM EDT up reply actions

You can safely get rid of the rumor part.

Roxy is an uber weaboo. She lives in Japan for chrissake.

BTW, Kaufman hasn’t shown me anything to convince me that she deserves to share the cage with Roxy.

by Polyhedron on Jul 23, 2010 3:56 AM EDT up reply actions

True

I was referring to the cultural view on fighting, i.e. learning about someone’s personality/feelings by fighting them, or live fighting as a form of expression… ya know, the stuff we’d thought had been “exposed” by MMA. :P

by Chortles on Jul 23, 2010 4:19 AM EDT up reply actions

Yup, those 11 wins with 8 finishes, and a title win and defense…those don’t mean a thing.

Kaufman was the one talking about cookies

Here‘s Roxy:

That is such a cool statement, my opinion of her went up a hundred fold. :D
Maybe she was referring to fighting cyborg with her cookies comment, (hell I ate muffins every day for a week to gain to fight Marloes) and the man parts with the fact men get star spots in the sport rather than women. She wouldn’t call Cyborg a man.

Welcome

And to answer subo’s question, in light of Roxy’s comment I think Coenen may have done better at putting on the pounds with muscle, unless Roxy was being facetious or sarcastic.

Here's an article from mma.tv about it

http://www.mixedmartialarts.com/mma.cfm?go=blogs.Detail&gid=19927

Wednesday Oct 28, in Tokyo, Japan where Roxy lives and trains, she awoke at 2:00 am to her cell phone ringing – her manager Shu Hirata was calling from New York to see if she would take a rematch against Marloes Coenen the following Saturday
The fight was at 145 (with a one pound allowance as it was non title), Roxy walks around at 137 or so, can lose five pounds in a single workout, and the commission rule was there could be maximum five pounds difference. Marloes is usually listed at 70 kg (154 lbs) so we figured she would take the extra pound. To be safe Roxy had to make 141. The plan entailed a two-pronged approach, first, IHOP, second, water.
The water pounding began anew. Weigh in was in jeans at 141.6. Marloes weighed in wearing pretty much nothing but a six pack at 145.2,

What happened is that Marloes is HUGE.

She’s just much physically larger.

subject line

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
