I hope he's serious
His looked awful in his last fight against Hathaway. I’m not a Sanchez fan but more power to him if he’s found his fire again.
Also interesting that he’s apparently training at Jackson’s gym again, given that he’s now training back in Albuquerque New Mexico. I wonder if he has made up with Jackson and how he is dealing with training with GSP as well given that was his main reason for leaving in the first place.

He's not training with Jackson
The gym he’s at is an affiliate of Erik Paulson’s CSW…nothing to do with Greg Jackson.

card looks amazing
someone on here a few days ago said Tito vs Ricardo Arona is nearly booked

Not hating on Paulo but I think he’s still a bit overrated. His best win is against Koscheck, a win in which he won in a come from behind KO. He has punching power and has developed his standup skills along with having the BJJ pedigree. At the same time, he got outgrappled by Fitch in a Fitch classic and surprisingly outgrappled by Martin Kampmann.

I think his "overrated" skills are still better than And Diego's robotic boxing and mediocre takedowns.

Don’t get me wrong, I think Diego is overrated as well :P I just don’t think Paulo is everything people make him out to be and more. As for Diego, mediocre takedown’s is a bit much. Dude was a state wrestling champ and has an aggressive takedown and GnP game.

well how has his takedowns looked in his last few fights?
Hathaway, Penn (excusable), Guida?
by Anton Tabuena on Jul 21, 2010 1:14 AM EDT up reply actions
Agreed. His TD's haven't looked good in his last few fights
But on the same token, let’s take it fight by fight.
In the Clay Guida fight, Diego had turned into sloppy kickboxer Diego, taking himself out of the wrestling mindset and in my recollection, hardly shot in on Guida.
The BJ fight, as you hinted to; BJ has legendary TD defense
The Hathaway fight, I don’t even know what happened. Deigo just looked out of shape and sloppy. Of course that is no excuse, but something just wasn’t there in that fight.

It’s not just those fights. He has always had pretty mediocre takedowns, he’s just usually so relentless that he gets at least one. His fight with John Alessio is a perfect example of this.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
I tend to agree with you...
Before the Hathaway fight I would probably have liked this match up, but this could be the end of Diego as we know him. He looked terrible last time.
Paulo kills this guy

I feel a little bit insulted by it
yet am still strongly considering going. Shit.

He said in an recent interview he's targeting this card
for his comeback. He’s apparently started grappling already, not sure about sparring though.

hopefully that pushes through.
I may not like the guy that much, but hopefully he gets to make a healthy return soon.
by Anton Tabuena on Jul 21, 2010 12:50 AM EDT up reply actions
There is no way he is back this soon.
Guys that have the surgery he had are out no less than a year. If he came back this early it would be a damn miracle and an easy win for whoever he is fighting.
Is Arona any closer to signing?

I don't think so,

I hope Tito goes for an encore of his main event post fight shit-talking to Mark Coleman and decides to mouth off to Cain after Brock wrecks him. The only thing better than Tito getting beat up once in a night is Tito getting beat up twice in one night……unless of course Tito has to pull out of his fight because he got attacked by the Loch Ness Monster or Tahoe Tessie in his backyard pool.

I would unserstand this fight had Diego won his welterweight re-debut.
I want Kim Winslow or Tan Dan to ref Tito Ortiz' next loss.

Sam Stout vs. Paul Taylor
This fight has potential blood letting written all over it.
"Stop smiling you are about to be punched in the face !"
Agreed

I'm a Diego NH and I really hope he takes this one.
BJ has really drained his confidence and the fact that he lost some muscle mass on his way down to LW doesn’t help either. He wasn’t able to mount any offense in the Hathaway fight.
But still, I’d be shouting YUS! and rooting for Diego on 121.
Diego is FUCKED.
Oh and why does he get to take such a big step up in the 170 division after getting tooled by Hathaway again?
by Polyhedron on Jul 21, 2010 11:37 AM EDT via mobile reply actions
I wondered the same thing
This fight makes more sense for Hathaway. To bad he’s on the UK card

Watching Paulo get worked by Kampmann sucked
But in hindsight, it was a fight similar to how he lost to Fitch. I don’t think Diego has Kampmann, let alone Fitch, level grappling prowess and his stand-up has never been all that impressive. I hope to see BOPE come back with a passion and destroy Diego, but Diego has the resilience of a lunatic so it’ll probably be a decision win.
