Josh Koscheck announced on twitter that December 11th will be the date that he faces the TUF 12 opposing coach, Georges St. Pierre:

Can't wait until tuf 12 airs in Sept! & oh ya did u guys know, that I am going to be the next welterweight champion come dec 11th. :))))))

The Ultimate Fighter Season 12 will debut on September 15, and the finale will likely be on December 4th -- one week before UFC 123, where the coaches face off for the welterweight championship.

He could be the next WW champ…

he’ll just have to wait until GSP goes up to MW and vacates the belt. Hopefully for Kos he’ll be back in title contention by then.

Yeah he forgot to write the year. It should say “dec. 11, 2012… :))))))))”

No location yet I’m guessing. I have a feeling they’ll do it in Pittsburgh. They already went to Montreal this year and I’d be surprised if they do 3 Canadian shows in a 7 month period.

Toronto

If they can by some act of god get the greenlight for a Toronto show that’s where it will be.

Well if they are gonna do this in December then the venue would have to be locked in by August or early September at the very latest I figure. I really don’t see the Canadian Parliament moving that fast.

Poor Kos'...

I hope he’s comfortable being smothered and layed on for twenty-five minutes. I’ll have to remind someone to wake me up when it’s over.

The outcome is obvious.

That isn’t anything that Koscheck wasn’t doing to Paul Daley. To me personally, I find it amazing that someone like GSP who didn’t wrestle in high school or college is outwrestling someone of Koscheck’s pedigree.

Do you really think

That is how this fight will play out?

It sucks

to have GSP sidelined a long time before the Hardy fight. It sucks more to have GSP sidelined again until December.

I hate champs doing the TUF

shits a waste of time the belt could be being defended.

by HitokiriX on Jul 20, 2010 5:15 AM EDT up reply actions

ANY

UFC champion doesn’t need the hype and exposure that TUF brings. Let alone GSP for that matter, arguably the 2nd biggest draw in the UFC. They should use TUF for fighters who are not yet in the “superstar” status and matching them with another coach which is a more recognizable name who is not champion. That way, the champion is freely defending his title whole year round while the UFC creates new stars by putting them in a TV show watched by many casuals. It’s a win-win situation.

6 weeks

to film the show. But then after filming you have to wait for TUF to air, you have to wait for the TUF Finale and then you get the coaches fight. That’s a long time, especially for a champion (granted injury free).

GSP's last bout was in March

Next will be December… that’s 9 months with no title defense.

Rampage was off like 10 months before he fought Griffin after TUF.

IMO, it’s a waste to have champs on there.

by HitokiriX on Jul 20, 2010 8:33 AM EDT up reply actions

I agree

but they want to build a compelling match up for GSP and there wasn’t one waiting in the wings.

Plus...

… GSP needs some “refreshing” in the eyes of “newer” fans who only see him once a year these days. Good promotion of fighter.

I’m not liking his chances. Would be fun if it would be in Pittsburgh though. I wonder if they would allow vuvuzelas? =)

As much as I want to agree; I can't. GSP makes damn sure the fight happens the way it does.

I don’t see Kos on his feet for very long. If Kos manages to stuff GSP’s shots and counters with eardrum crushing fists/elbows, GSP will find himself in trouble as long as Kos can maintain the pace with anti-wrestling.

If it came to a pure striking match, GSP would still be favored.

Kos has power behind his punches, but GSP is a far superior striker.

by truck on Jul 20, 2010 9:44 AM EDT up reply actions

He was against "Wonder Punch" Cera too.

I just think Kos has to be aggressive and really work on his takedown defense to have a chance to shock the world.

It’s not impossible though.

GSP is the better striker and better wrestler. Kos doesn’t stand much of a chance. The only question is whether or not GSP finishes the fight or takes all five rounds in dominating fashion.

I disagree

Kos is the most dangerous WW in the UFC for GSP.

Although he may be the most dangerous, I don’t think he poses any sort of a huge threat. Kos can and will be taken down or outstruck. How does he win the fight? I think GSP takes this 99 times out of 100. Kos doesn’t take down GSP, Kos doesn’t knock him out. I just don’t see it.

Who do you think improved more since the first fight, GSP or Kos?

GSP owned Kos the first time around. Granted, Kos has improved since then, but so has GSP. In fact, based on what he’s done in between these two fights, I’d say GSP has improved more than Kos has. Outside of Kos pulling a Serra of sorts, he’ll be eating crow come Dec 12th. There is no way he will win outside of GSP making some boneheaded mistake.

this fight should not have been turned into a tuf season

we already saw it, gsp won pretty convincingly. this rematch shoulda been done real quick like 3 months after the hardy fight, gotten kos outta the way and gotten gsp ready to fight either shields or anderson silva

There are still fights at WW (Thiago, Shields, Diaz)

Or he could stop being ……..and move up to 185. I mean it didn’t take years for BJ to “put on muscle” to move up to 170. A fighter is a fighter. They could still fight at 177 and it would be for the MW title.
