I thought Gegard Mousasi vs Jake O’Brien was confirmed last week…

This is a pretty solid card even without Overeem.

I wish they could have somehow kept Ricco on the card.

there’s still time, show is like 9 days away, plenty of time to find opponent/announce a fight, this is japan we’re talking about

I am thinking the same exact thing with the Overeem vs Rico fight. If its a $ issure thats stoping Overeem from fighting right now and FEG shows him the $ upfront, I think he’s on this card for sure. Overall even as now its shaping into a nice show. I am happy to See Ishida back in action myslef, I have always like him.

Is Omigawa really fighting a guy thats 0-2?

by Rabbit915 on Jul 2, 2010 10:59 AM EDT reply actions

yes

instead of going to the WEC and seeing what he can do, one of the world’s best featherweights is fighting an utter scrub.

Come on Nate you should know the fighters out of Yoshida Dojo there managment other then shooto likes them to stick all to the same org mostly. I do see Omigawa testing himself in the WEC in the future sence his managment has past dealings with Zuffa but until then its not all bad there is still solid competition at 145 for Omigawa to fight in Dream and Shooto for now.

Omigawa also refused the 63 kg weight limit

and demanded a 65 kg catchweight, which Dream officials were happy to approve.

by Scott Haber on Jul 2, 2010 11:29 AM EDT up reply actions

Good

63 kg/139 lbs is such a retarded weight limit for featherweight.

Jesus

Why doesn’t the WEC find some 0-2 KOTC guy and throw him in there against Assuncao? This is why we have sanctioning bodies. I like Omigawa, but for taking this fight, I hope he suffers a humiliating defeat.

exactly its a payday for a fighter and its called a warm up fight. I don’t know why so many MMA fans are agasint them. Sure they can be dangerous and can make for great upsets. But the keep a fighter bussy and get him a payday all at the same time in between BIG fights.

Amoussou is a good addition, Kaz is a great first matchup for him in DREAM. It’d be great if they can build him into a new Wanderlei.

Is Ishida heading featherweight then?

Glad he made the decision. He was tad small even for Japanese MMA standards.

DREAM + Yoshida Dojo

Is awesome news! Did all of Yoshida’s guys leave SRC or just the J-Rock guys? I ask cause I noticed Osawa fought at SRC 13.
