AOL's AJ Perez Talks Michael Kirkham, Butterbean Says Kimbo Slice Is "Grasping", UFC 117 Preview and More on MMA Nation on 106.7 The Fan

Mma_nation_medium_medium_medium

It was an off week with no UFC or Strikeforce events, but there was still plenty to discuss.

We opened the show with talk of Impact FC and the rather regrettable decline of Ken Shamrock. Callers weighed-in on whether it's time for "The World's Most Dangerous Man" to quit and we tried to figure out what it all meant.

In segment two we caught with AOL FanHouse's national reporter A.J. Perez. We talked to Perez about his article on the death of MMA fighter Michael Kirkham in South Carolina.

In the third segment we caught up with Eric "Butterbean" Esch. We talked to Butterbean about a potential Kimbo Slice vs. Mariusz Pudzianowski bout in Moosin, why he'd be able to easily KO Pudzianowski and more. You can listen to the interview here, but a full write-up is coming tomorrow.

We then took more calls on a ton of topics including a potential Fedor vs. Overeem bout, the failure of Mayweather vs. Pacquiao to be booked, Jake Shields to the UFC and more.

Last, but certainly not least, we heard from our good friend Chad Dukes. Chad argues a Lashley vs. Batista pay-per-view bout on Strikeforce is capable of 200k buys. We also look ahead to UFC 117 and comment at length about what a fantastically stacked event it is, yet will only do a modest amount of buys.

UStream video of the show is here. And by the way, we're going to try integrating callers into the UStream feed next week. Fingers crossed that it works.

We are on Facebook, I'm on Twitter, James Kimball is on Twitter, Othello is on Twitter and the show's podcasts can all be found here. Email me here. Thanks for the support. SPREAD THE WORD.

Ya Sonnen’s actually one of the smartest fighters in the UFC, I think. Don’t know what that whole calling him a redneck and saying he is “formally” educated was supposed to mean but it was pretty pompous.

Goldberg on Leben: One thing's for sure--he really did break that door on the Ultimate Fighter.
Rogan: uh...yeah.

so is Butterbean

shit talking his promotion’s #1 draw for no reason or are they just on deep kayfabe to build heat for a ridiculous conflict of interest fight between a promoter and his top money maker?

I too would like to see someone blow Jake Shields’s brains out in the UFC. I have always been a Shields doubter, and while I appreciate how amazing his ground game can be, and how impressively he came back from and beat Henderson, I still think any of the top UFC guys blasts him out of the water. I guess we’ll find out.

As for Sonnen, he’s getting a knee for sure. Secretly though, I will be cheering for Sonnen to win, cause I think it would make for hilarious viewing.

Podcast?

Cool – is there any way to subscribe to this as a podcast, or get it all in one file?

In Short No

I believe the issue is CBS not wanting to do it, possibly licensing issues but thats just speculation.
Basically since CBS took over they podcast has ended with no return in sight. This is the best luke can do as far as we know

Who needs

Mike Goldberg when you’ve got Luke Thomas? One of the best voices in MMA.

Awsome show Luke!
