Chris Leben Talks Yoshihiro Akiyama Win at UFC 116
"Leaving the Octagon walking back, I turned to my coach, Burton Richardson, and said, 'What was that, about halfway through the second round I finished him?'" Leben said. "He said, 'No, Chris, you had about 20 seconds left in the third.' That's a sign, definitely, I was rocked. I really don't remember a lot of the fight after the second round. It's kind of a blur. I had a chance to go back and watch it yesterday, and definitely, my knees buckled, my legs gave, it was just one of those things where every time I get hit I wonder if I can hang on. I hung on, but he rocked me, for sure."

Health
While he still has the skills to compete at a very high level, he might want to consider 1) not fighting twice within two weeks if he wants his brain to work later on in life 2) retiring in the next few years so his brain will work later on in life. I love watching him fight because he is such a warrior but at some point, you need to consider your quality of life down the road.
Agreed
He already seems different, physically and vocally, then a few years ago. Hopefully it’s maturity, and not the slowdown of synapsis’s…
that daily line show on vs is pretty good
but they should helwani on it often, and try and grab ratings by covering mma more which most espn shows really fail to do

Fighting while concussed
Leben’s best weapon.
Fun to watch, but this will end bad in 10 years.

10 years?
I give him 5 years tops before he has to retire if he keeps fighting the way he does
I don't think he was talking about Leben's career ending.
That lewey-body dementia is bad stuff.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
always nice to hear a fighter
Speak genuinely and not spout machismo after a win. Classy move by Leben.

Goddamn Chris
you need to lay down for a while…
God help me, I have a problem. I'm a Shinya Aoki fan. I don't know what to do about it...
"what the f**k is the internet?"
Pain don't hurt...
Think about this
If Akiyama hit him so hard that he couldn’t remember the fight form the second round on but still was able to continue and eventually win the fight…. imagine how hard Anderson Silva had to hit him to knock him out when they fought
I have thought about this...
Not pretty…. I feel bad for anyone who steps in the ring with AS. Remember Forrest got knocked out when Silva was moving backwards. That is incredible.
I'm not sure it was that punch that stopped the fight
So much as Forrest was just ready to quit/die.
"I am a man who pisses largely and frequently, which they say is a sign of great mental activity" -Henry Miller-
It was the knee
that did the most damage in the Silva fight. I don’t think fists alone will stop Leben. Heath Herring is made of the same tough stuff.
It was the accuracy
It is AS’s ability to stay calm when being stalked and fire back. Anyone who has every trained know how hard that is. First reaction is to run and the second is to just close your eyes and swing wildly. the spiders timing is just ridiculous. He must get it from all that crazy dancing.

OK I will give it a shot, usually these movies are just terrible though.
I prefer more of the stupid comedies like Anchorman, Oldskool, Beerfest, the Hangover, road house, blah blah blah
its really just a tremendous movie
and i love the stupid movies as well but sarah marshall is definately worth ur time its one of the funniest movies ive seen in years

It's not really your regular rom com
Jason Segel wrote it, Judd Apatow produced it. And of course it’s got Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell in it.
EVERYONE WINS.

I can’t stand Judd Apatow. Why did Funny People need to be so damn long?

Kind of makes you wish Harry and Marv were successful...
She loses serious hot points for marrying Macally Culkin…

No more fights within two weeks of each other please
If he enjoys coaching as much as he says he does, he should consider retiring after he takes advantage of this slight resurgence of his.
Hell no
he’s finnaly clawed his way back into contetion, why the hell would he retire now?
I’m guessing your not a Leben fan?

I kind of said exactly what you’re thinking.
Take advantage of the resurgence, make your mark and bow out.
And yes, I am a Leben fan.
I have been ever since he said something along the lines of: “I guess I have a button on my face Joe, you punch it, I automatically punch back.”
my bad
I must have took it wrong.

Man the UFC is really lucky to have a guy like Leben he is a great entertainer, his chin could be compared with George Chuvalo’s. That being said where does he go from here I would love to see a fight with Wandy but the winner of Belcher/Maia would be cool even the loser of that fight wouldn’t disappoint me. I know a lot of people harp on the Middleweight division and I can never really understand why, but after Leben’s fights and Gerald Harris’ slam heard around the world you gotta admit it’s one of the most entertaining divisions out there
he was rocked...
as entertaining and dramatic as the fight was, i have a feeling his chin is going to wear out much like chuck’s. I mean, fighting twice in two weeks and getting pummelled and “hanging on” (and taking so much punishment throughout his career)… he can’t keep this up for a long time.
I am shocked
That out of over 60 comments, the majority are NOT about Leben showing frightening signs of concussion and memory loss.
Take a fucking year-long break, please.
BOOSH
There are tons of fighters make similar claims...
Dan Henderson didn’t remember much after taking a “knee or an elbow” Anderson Silva.
