Beat me too it

I just read this, and got so excited. This is gonna be such a good fight, and has some importance to the division. I feel itll be a standup war, because lytle wont wanna mess with serra on the ground

by majuca8 on Jul 10, 2010 4:10 PM EDT reply actions

But

there hasn’t been a not exciting fight for lytle since then.

by av1o3 on Jul 10, 2010 5:10 PM EDT up reply actions

The Koscheck fight was pretty boring. Josh just took him down, smothered him, and smashed him with elbows for 15 minutes. Chris doesn’t do well against guys with a strong top game.

by Steve4192 on Jul 11, 2010 10:33 AM EDT up reply actions

Hughes is another example of a top control guy who completely nullified Lytle’s game.

Expect another boring Serra win.

I liked the Kos Lytle match

it was super bloody, just the way I like ’em.

Deputy Travis Junior: I don't think there was a real reason for Jones to hit Garcia, cause Garcia's a man who's already down. Garcia ain't got friends, he lives in a little shitty apartment, he don't have no family that I know of. He ain't got no taste. He's racist, he's a sexist, he's a lying bigot horse's ass. I think, you know, hitting him is just throwing shit in front of a shit pile that's already got too much shit in it.

this card isn't doing it for me on paper...

but you never know with MMA…could be the card of the year.

UFC 115 and 116 weren't too popular on paper.

Neither was WEC 49.

When you consider how stacked 117, 118, and hell even UFN 22 is

This is a really good card.

Perfect, I will be attending this event, and I am stoked! I am a huge Serra and Lytle fan, hard not to cheer if I am sitting in press row!

uuuh yeah I write for the Cincinnati Enquirer. Thanks?

both of these guys are awesome in my book.

But I’m rootin for Serra again. Got to. Helluva match tho. Both can stand, and both have good jitz.

by Broke Lesnar on Jul 10, 2010 4:39 PM EDT reply actions

Muy bueno

I hope Lytle wins, as I see him being much more competitive in a #1 contender’s match than Serra.

really?

Lytle is a true veteran of the game but I don’t give him that good a chance against Serra or any other top contenders at 170. I’d rather see Serra at 155 but like he said … he loves his pasta.

by Johnnynumber5 on Jul 10, 2010 4:50 PM EDT up reply actions

As much as I like both guys, neither of them should be near a number one contender’s fight.

It would be Lytle’s fourth straight win. I would gladly watch him fight Thiago Alves after Fitch beats him.

Now that Lytle has decided to actually use his jiu-jitsu, he could easily become a contender. Well, maybe not easily

by jammin.. on Jul 10, 2010 6:45 PM EDT up reply actions

I doubt it.

His submission game is tight, but his positional grappling still sucks. Hughes, Koscheck, & Serra all controlled him with ease on the ground, and I expect guys like Fitch & Shields would do the same.

by Steve4192 on Jul 11, 2010 10:37 AM EDT up reply actions

If someone were to tell me Bader would be fighting Rogerio Noguiera about 8 weeks ago I’d of laughed Bader off as having no shot at winning. However, after seeing the success Brilz had against Noguiera using his wrestling I’m now more inclined to think this fight is close to even with the slight edge towards Bader. This will be another big step for Darth Bader and regardless of who wins between he and Rogerio the winner is undoubtedly up there in the mix with Bones Jones, Machida & Page as the top 205 contenders. This is such a compelling card with solid fights from top to bottom. Also, if Dunham goes out there and beats Sherk he has to be the guy after maynard / florian debate is settled.

seen McCorkle fight? he seems like a beast, 6’7" and 300 lbs?

by SNATCHFACE on Jul 10, 2010 5:36 PM EDT reply actions

I’ve seen a few of his youtube clips, but it is hard to tell whether he is really any good. His opponents have been terrible. He’s one of those guys who NEEDS to be in the UFC because he can’t find fights otherwise. Whether he BELONGS in the UFC is another matter entirely. If he can’t beat the bloated corpse of Mark Hunt, he really doesn’t belong.

Nothing like a main event where both guys are coming off losses. And it’s not like their first fight was a real hotly contested match.

i wonder who the favorite will be in nog vs bader. ( i assume nog by a slim margin, which would have been much larger if not for his last fight) nog after a poor showing and bader after a few impressive wins. i think i’ll lay a few bucks on bader.

here's to the rubble...

by imalebowski on Jul 10, 2010 6:58 PM EDT reply actions

That would be a mistake.

In my opinion. Bader is going to get submitted.

by Geno Mrosko on Jul 10, 2010 7:10 PM EDT up reply actions

Meh, I don’t know. Bader could just use his wrestling to keep it standing. Nog’s boxing is sharper, but I’d give the edge in power decisively to Bader. And Nog didn’t look good at dealing with a wrestler off his back against Brilz. Nog is more experienced, but Bader is much more athletic. I think this is closer than many people think.

It WILL be interesting; that’s why I’m excited to watch it!

The sweeps were nice, and I’m always a mark for a good sweep rather than just endlessly throwing your legs up from guard. I’d like to think that Bader has better pressure and control from the top than Brilz, but I have no actual reason for saying that.

by Flying Gogoplata on Jul 10, 2010 7:02 PM EDT reply actions

Love this matchup. Two of the best JiuJitsuBoxers ever in MMA. And both of them are having nice late-career runs in the UFC. Too bad it will have the dark cloud of being on another inadequate premium priced PPV hanging over it. That is two in a row for Serra where he will be called up to be the star in the co-co-main event of such a card.

by smoogy2 on Jul 10, 2010 8:02 PM EDT reply actions

So now you will shit on a UFC card for the co-co-main event? Dark cloud is right.

I have to agree here, no way I’d pay $45 for this card as is. If it was Rampage-Lil Nog then maybe but not with this lineup.

by ufc4 on Jul 10, 2010 8:54 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I didn’t “shit on a UFC card for the co-co-main event”. You seem to have misunderstood what I wrote. I’m saying it will be too bad to be on this card because that is all anyone will be talking about. Serra vs. Trigg didn’t exactly get a lot of love either. I would prefer to see Serra main event Spike/Versus cards than propping up weak PPVs.

by smoogy2 on Jul 10, 2010 9:34 PM EDT up reply actions

Now that makes sense “bad to be on this card because that is all anyone will be talking about” Sorry for being a douche.

This requires buying into this card being “weak”, which I think very few people do.

How many UFC cards in the last… say… twelve months would you say have justified that price?

One or both of these guys must have really wanted the rematch. It’s not doing much for me. I would actually like to see Serra in there with some of the younger up-and-comers, but I understand if that’s not what he wants late in his career.

Never was begging for the rematch.......

but it should be a solid fight. I am kind of interested to see how Lytle does with someone that might not just sit there and slug it out with him. Serra has a more solid all around game then the guys he has fought lately.

Buffer's face is awesome in that photo (and many others)

I suspect Serra told him to fuggedabout something.
