u could be thinking of him and benevidez cause i know they train together
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
I love that they kept Mizugaki despite losing a few. Great scrappy fighter.

You just called Mizugaki a tuneup? That’s harsh.

What? So this isn't pretty much a gimme fight for Urijah? Please explain.
They could have easily put him in against Jorgenson, Torres, etc, but they chose Mizugaki b/c they know that while it is guaranteed fireworks, it is as close to a gimme for Faber they could put together.
Keep inching
First it’s a layup, now it’s “as close to a gimme”.
Give me a break..

I won't inch
The WEC gave him this fight because it would be exciting, and Urijah would probably win. Unless he has trouble from the cut which means he shouldn’t be at 35 anyway. This fight was made for Urijah.
Also I don’t mean to disrespect Mizugaki, but we are talking about Faber here.
"I am a man who pisses largely and frequently, which they say is a sign of great mental activity" -Henry Miller-
You know what I meant.
They can’t toss Faber in against No-name MMA fighter making his debut, and they can’t have Faber fighting Rani Yahya.
So what do they do? They put him in against Mizugaki.
I have given numerous reasons why I believe this is a gimme fight.
You however, have given no reasons why you believe it is not, except for comments like “give a break.”
Either way man, it’s clear that my opinion is shared by a lot of people, just as I am sure some people will share your opinion that this is a tough match for Faber.
Agree to disagree I guess.
You have to admit that the WEC is setting this fight up for a glorious entrance into the bantamweight division for Faber.
"I am a man who pisses largely and frequently, which they say is a sign of great mental activity" -Henry Miller-
No, I don't
I’m a little stunned, honestly. Faber should win this fight, but the assertion that this is a gimme is absolutely ridiculous.

What has Mizugaki shown that leads you to believe this isn't a gimme for Faber?
He barely beat Curran, lost to Jorgenson, and beat Rani. His most notable accomplishment is his loss in a war with Torres, who has himself been on a 2 fight skid and is in dire need of a W.
Whoa dude
Don’t bring down Torres to prove your point.
"I am a man who pisses largely and frequently, which they say is a sign of great mental activity" -Henry Miller-
LOL Frank Mir, is that you?
Again, I’m not bringing Torres down, I am stating reality:
“he is on a two fight skid and in desperate need of a win.”
Please tell me how that is wrong.
And it is also true that Misugaki’s best fight so far was in his loss to Torres. I’m sorry if you disagree, but it’s the truth.
Mizygaki is a gatekeeper.
Mike Thomas fighting Anthony Morrison after losing to Jose Aldo was a “gimme” opponent. Mizugaki is ranked #6 in the world at Bantamweight and is a pretty dangerous opponent. Obviously Urijah is the favorite here, but this is the first time he’ll be making this sort of weight cut and Mizugaki is still a dangerous opponent. This is probably the main-event if there are no title defenses on this card.
Yeah, the Brown fight was a gimme. Doesn't mean the Urijah fight isn't though.
I think they are both gimmes. I’d go into more detail on why I think this is a gimme fight, but I have already done so above.
C'mon Dude..
You’re right that he should win this fight, but to say that its just a “gimme” fight? That is like saying, hypothetically of coures, Nate Marquardt dropping down to 170 to fight Dan Hardy is a gimme.
Mizugaki got beaten soundly by Torres, but he still was able to do some real damage. He beat a game Jeff Curran (although it probably should have been a loss), and he beat the #9 ranked BW in Rani Yahya.
SO while there isn’t a great chance of him coming out and dethrowning the champ anytime soon, he is def. an upper echelon fighter, who can give anyone a test.
Here we go
Everybody sucks.

LOL alright whatever man.
I have given a concise argument of why I believe this fight to be a gimme for Urijah. You have given no insight to why you believe what you believe. Saying “the assertion that this is a gimme is absolutely ridiculous” definitely tells us what you think, but it doesn’t tell us how you came to that conclusion.
But yeah, agree to disagree.
gimme = suck ? I think, is the conclusion you should draw. And never start a sentence with, " Also, I don’t mean to disrespect Mizugaki, but…", and then disrespect him. We’re all fans here.
"Gimme" doesn't mean "suck."
And I never started a sentence with : " Also, I don’t mean to disrespect Mizugaki, but…""
I don’t know where you saw me saying that, but please don’t put words in my mouth.
I also do not understand your logic that giving my opinion on how he stacks up to Faber given his record and accomplishments is somehow disrespectful. It’s what we do with every fight where we are predicting a winner.
And I still don’t think saying Mizugaki isn’t on Faber’s level is disrespecting Mizugaki.
"I am a man who pisses largely and frequently, which they say is a sign of great mental activity" -Henry Miller-
Yeah, he's a gimme

You may not have much love for Mizugaki, but you’re awfully great at giving yourself backrubs.

I was thinking this is a terrible matchup for Mizugaki
Faber’s strength means he should ragdoll him. But then I remembered it is at 135. Faber might be small, but 10 extra pounds is a lot of weight to drop. That’s as big of drop as going from MW to LW. Who knows how he’ll look, but it might be James Irvin 2. Mizugaki might not be so easy to control on the ground.
yeah i know I was just f-ing with him.
Urijah isn’t very gaunt at 145 so I doubt the cut will hurt him much.
Awesome
What an awesome fight. Man, I love WEC. Faber has the right idea in dropping to 135, imo.

Very winnable fight for Faber.
I expected no less for the golden boy though. I suspect a Torres match-up is in the works if they both win their respective fights, followed by a Bowles or Cruz match for the title. Wouldn’t be shocked if Faber makes a nice little run through the division.

Agreed
Cant wait for this fight.
"IT IS WHAT IT IS"
My only complaint
Is I’m a Mizugaki fan and I see him gettign steamrolled.
But on the very positive side, if Urijah looks good at 135, maybe we can finally see him and (a hopefully) revitalized Kid Yamamoto meet in a relevant matchup somewhere down the line.
Still holding out hope for Yamamoto/Faber?
That dream died a loooooong time ago for me.

it did for me too, until Faber announced he was dropping down and I watched Kid knock out Kiko at the last Dream card and I thought to myself “shit, we really got hosed on the California Kid vs Kid Yamamoto bout awhile ago”.
And hopefully Miguel can get back on track so a Faber/Torres fight will make sense.
I have my doubts Yamamoto will ever make his way to America.

If Bowles doesn’t get an automatic title rematch, I guess they might go with Torres/Bowles 2.

yeah Bowles vs Cruz II
is on tap for the next 135 title fight if I am not mistaken. Hopefully Brian doesn’t quit during the fight.
Hopefully Brian doesn’tquitbreak his fucking hand during the fight.
Fixed.

Man, you guys are really defensive in here today.
The guy quit. Plain and simple. Sure he broke his hand. Just like Rich Franklin did against The Crow. Just like Urijah Faber has in multiple fights.
The difference is that those guys didn’t quit after they got injured in a fight. They fought through it, win or lose. They didn’t quit on the stool.
Brian did. Don’t get upset at the facts.
OMG
This is gonna be friggin awesome.

First time I've had this reaction
but I’m starting to get a little alarmed at how complete your gif collection is.
It's usually stuff that I've found that same day.
My personal collection is actually rather small.

only just now? I’ve wondered how he whips these things out for months now. Even in threads where we are constantly talking he posts them faster than humanly possible.
I was in denial that he may have a problem the whole time
Now I realize I was only acting as an enabler.
I'll be gone for like a week and some change

when i met him
and he said urijah makes 145 without cutting and just eats hella carbs
'till I collapse...
Well
I’m a fan of both fighters. That said I don’t want to see Mizugaki drop to 2-3 in the WEC when he has put up great battles pretty much every fight, nor do I want Faber to get a discouraging 3rd straight defeat.
This should be very entertaining and exciting but chances are I won’t like the outcome.

Aaaand with perfect timing, Weekly just announced Benavidez/Cruz for the title on the same card. SWEET.

Shane Roller is also fighting on this card
And it will be shown on Versus.

know against who?
Pettis maybe? or is that too early. I hope he fights the cowboy!

Not announced yet
The event will be held at the Palms though, which is bullcrap because I’m tired of UFC/WEC events (especially with a title fight on the line) taking place there. It’s too small and the atmosphere sucks.

Kind of shows you the state of disarray the 135 division is in since Torres has been on a skid
in terms of markatable fighters.
I can’t remember the last time a fighter quit during the fight in between rounds and then got an immediate rematch.
Sure he broke his hand, but you’d think Bowles would have to fight at least one other person first.
I mean, what happens if Brian breaks his hand in the 1st round again and decides to quit?
What the hell? Benavidez/Cruz is the title fight.
Not Bowles/Cruz II.

He just got married
Let the man enjoy a couple months of wedded bliss before Mrs. Bendo finds out what its like being a fighters wife.
If i could make a gif to drive the point home I would use the scene in The Incredibles (Pixars greatest film, so far) where Mr. Incredible is leaving the house to go work/super hero train and the missus sends him off with a kiss again and again.
When will Dana announce Mir vs. Torres?
If I wake up tomorrow and see that the world has ended, then that means God has finally granted my prayers.
GO Armageddon!!!
This is the right move for Faber, no doubt
As has been mentioned a few times already, he’s a very small FW and the fact is that in top-tier MMA modern day almost everyone is cutting significant amounts. Fighting at your natural weight is putting yourself at a disadvantage.
I’ve been expecting this since the first loss to Brown
