Miguel Torres Says a Fight Against Urijah Faber Doesn't Make Sense Right Now

"The fight should have happened a year ago or two years ago... we need to both get on track and then make it a big fight."

I can't agree more.....

Why put either of them on a 2 fight losing streak?

Torres already is on a 2 fight losing streak.

By the way

Brock Lesnar def. Frank Mir via TKO R2 (July 11th)
Brian Bowles def. Miguel Torres via TKO R1 (August 9th)

Joseph Benavidez def. Miguel Torres via SUB R2 (March 6th)
Shane Carwin def. Frank Mir via TKO R1 (March 27th)

Hmmm……

So thats why

Frank Mir gained so much weight and barely did anything against Carwin. He was still heartbroken when Torres lost

The problem is, though...

that opportunity is gone, right or wrong. The hard truth is that it is unlikely that either of them will ever again hold a title, if MMA history is any indicator. However, both fighters still hold alot of market value, better to capitalize on it before it falls any further.

Dude. It's Anderson Silva.
If he gives a damn he will end Sonnen’s night by either sub or KO.

Miguel is one of the best guys in the sport

and his daughter is freakin’ adorable.

If I got to pick three people to be ambassadors of MMA to convince somebody who wants the sport to be illegal he’d be one of them, no doubt. Great personality, great talent, and he’ll be back to his winning ways in short order.

New York, Bob Reilly, all that fun.

If anybody spent two days with Miguel Torres, Demian Maia, and Kenny Florian, they could not oppose MMA as a sport for any reason but being stubborn. I know Demian has done big media in Brazil and Kenny went in front of the state legislature regarding the double weigh in, but the three of them together would be an unstoppable media force.

Disclosure: I love all three of those guys and have a close personal relationship with both Demian and Miguel. I’ve met Kenny on more than one occasion, both personal and business, and he’s been nothing but a gentleman and a scholar.

Yeah, I really like Kenny. Torres and Maia I’m sure are both class acts too.

If anyone can get back to the title it’s Miguel. I’m a hugh fan of his, and I hope he gets it turned around.

One win for Urijah, (since he's dropping down)

would probably make him a contender… Miguel probably needs to win spectacularly on his next bout, or maybe win two, then people would be buzzing about Faber vs Torres for the title shot.

by Anton Tabuena on Jun 4, 2010 11:15 PM EDT reply actions

yeah, i agree on the faber thing… especially with the trash cruz has talked about him (assuming he still has the title by then).

by woooburn on Jun 5, 2010 10:21 AM EDT up reply actions

hes still absurdly talented

and will be back, bowles caught him and benavidez is a tough tough style to fight those losses coulda happened to anybody

torres will be back and compete for the title again

We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!

Torres needs a new camp and to get his spirit back, he fought without any passion or aggressiveness and basically gave his neck after he got cut. He needs to dig deep and find the killer again, because the last guy out there I diddn’t recognize him at all.

Brian Bowles did a number on his mind

Hopefully he can get that fire back, cuzhe just quit against Benavidez.

We see it all the time, these guys build up an image of invincibility only to have it taken away in brutal fashion with millions watching.

Question is, will Miguel Torres respond like Rocky Balboa or Mike Tyson?

ditto

i think this fight should have happened when both were champs and should have been the first ppv main event!

i was at this event today while he was doing the event i was in the red shirt behind him!

I agree with Torres

Let them both work back up some heat, and then do a MEGA135ULTRAMATCH and watch the coin roll in.

“I know I’m pretty…but I ain’t as pretty as a couple of titties…”

Torres is great, but his interview stops at the 1:52 mark thanks to the girl in green.
