I don't think he actually dislikes Frankie.
But it is fucking awesome to finally hear him talking like this. He tries to make himself believe that he really does dislike his opponent and he gets that extra fire.
How long til he starts spreading rumors about Frankie being on steroids...?

He's still convincing himself at the moment.
Give it a week or so.

If he loses, we’ll see BJ’s mom all up in arms about how his son was in danger because of the unspecified illegal methods his opponent was using.

makes me wonder
…If he did’nt fight like he was fired up the first time and won( I scored the fight 3rds to 2), what will happen if he is actually motivated?

i remember them saying he was sick or something because he looked pale and like shit when he walked out to fight, believe me i know, i went to train bjj last night and i think i have a minor bug and i was dying during the warmups, people were like wtf is up with u when i was drilling with them, im stayin home today :(
i think diego was a bigger challenge dor bj, bj just had an off night against frankie and even though he looked like shit, frankie was hardly impressive
when it was over i wanted it to be a draw or if there was some way to give them botyh a loss
ufc 112 was probably one of the worst ufcs i can remember
I think the fact
that it was in an outdoor stadium in a middle of a fucking desert at night affected everyones performances that day. That was probably the first and last time the ufc will do that.
Wow, he is so fired up he is going to train for this one.

Frankie's gonna get beat badly.
Of course, that’s what I said the first time around, but this time I mean it. I think. :)
He just needs time to focus on his music, man

I can’t stand this guy. Started to really like him after he destroyed Kenny and Diego, but every time he loses he cries SO much. I don’t remember reading anything about Frankie dodging a rematch with Penn. This probably just something Penn’s mom or brother made up to get him motivated.
And just as I say that...
this happens.

?
..Is this the video that sparked the rebuttal from BJ, not sure. If it is I don’t see why BJ is pissed Frankie always seems like a pretty stand up guy.

I have no idea.
I’m sticking to the “his Mom made this stuff up” comment.

When the fight was offered frankie didnt want to rematch BJ. That’s kind of cheap because the fight could have gone either way and it wasnt a very definitive performance from either guy.
From BJ’s perspective it’s like he gave this unknown kid a chance and now edgar was trying to take the ball home with him.
And from Zuffa’s perspective it’s like Edgar really needs to demonstrate and everyone needs to be sure that he really is the best lw in the world. You can just promote – up somebodies contract unless it’s definitive.
If edgar finished bj or it was completely one sided it would be a different story.
Crybaby Penn is back… no u didn’t lose all 5 rounds but u did lose, so get to training and quit making whiney videos
Did you watch that fight?
He got robbed almost as bad as Shogun did in the first Machida fight
yep

I watched it live...
and completely sober for a change and i had them even going into the final round. I figured BJ would turn it up at that pont but he didn’t and he got outworked for a decision
Maybe thats why you thought he won
you were stuck seeing the fight in one angle. If you watched it on the tv you would see that BJ landed the harder shots and that a lot of Edgar’s punches were just glancing shots.
God, the guy is just so hateable.
You lost get over it.
It was a close fight, but he did loose.
Don’t whine and complain.
And for the record, Edgar was asked what the other lightweights thought of BJ’s instant rematch.
He said that he hasn’t spoken to any of them, but that if he was Maynard he could see why Gray might be annoyed, cause lots of people thought that he (Frankie) had stepped passed Gray, and now BJ was again.
But that in his oppinion BJ was a legend and that if anyone deserved a rematch it was him.
But in BJ’s head that means Franke tryed to avoid him.
Just like in BJ’s head Keny Florian saying that Roger Huerta used grease, means GSP uses grease and he comes out and says that.
He’s just a crybaby who lies to themselves to make him feel better when he looses.
actually in his book he said it was kenny who texted him and told him specifically gsp was greasing course it boils down to his word against kennys so the whole truth may never come to light
Don't go using facts when dealing with Penn haters.
They will just clam up, leave, and look for another opportunity to bash him in the future.
I’m kind of glad it’s this way. Considering I’m the kind of asshole who hates when bands that I like “break big”, I was uncomfortable with all the BJ love that was going around.
But alas, they’ll return when he curbstomps Frankie…

You're correct in that regard....
It was getting a little weird when everybody was suddenly swinging from his nuts after a good solid year or two of hate.
One thing I never understood
Is why Kenny would tell BJ that GSP was a greaser.
well the way bj put it the two were friends and trained together and Kenny was giving him the heads up pretty sure it was before the fight was even scheduled
actually now that I think about it he says he blew it off when he first heard about it but Jason Parillo was the one who didn’t let it go and he actually talked to some of the guys from the athletic commission before the fight had started
It just makes no sense to me that Firas and GSP would welcome Kenny like they have if he really did say things to BJ about Georges greasing in fights… and why nobody has said anything else about it.
gray said himself that he wasn’t ready for a title shot, all the other lw’s can go screw, buncha scrubs in comparison.
bj oustruck edgar in every round, only round you could give to edgar is the one where he took bj down.
edgar did a good job of looking busier though, what with all his bouncing around, maybe that convinced the judges.
by kanodogg on Jun 30, 2010 4:16 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Exactly....
He had a lot of movement and, with no monitors, only one judge could see what was actually going on at any given time (IMO).
BJ lost a close decision. In Griffins book he talked about how you walk back to your corner, how you act after a round, and how you look after the fight is all things that can decide weather you winor lose a close decision.
It was close and theres a good argument for BJ getting the nod but he looked defeated afer the fight. He was sucking air and looked like he had enough. This could be due to the sinus infection he had, but reguardless he looked like he was a beaten man after that fight. This rematch will be murder.
