Kind of like when we were kids

The less you show chicks you care, the more they like you. It’s clear the booing gets to him when he’s in there. He should just do his job, not worry about the noise in the arena, and the people will come around.

I like him, he’s funny and colourful. Sometimes he sounds like a prick, but if would get enough tv time, I’d also sound like a prick, most people would.

*Militant turns startled...

Does Bisping really believe that?

I myself have never had anything agasint Bisping. His personality has never rubbed me the wrong way like it seems too for so many other MMA Fans. That being said I really don’t root for him eather. As for the whole Wand Rematch talk I don’t understand at all where this seems from it was a clear 29-28 victory for Silva end of story there is no dam rematch needed. I want to see bolth fighters especially wand this late in his career fight other fighters.

by Shocbomb on Jun 3, 2010 8:56 AM EDT reply actions

That’s the money fight for Bisping, but it makes sense only for him.

I'm a lover not a fighter

by spectaa on Jun 3, 2010 9:35 AM EDT up reply actions

exactly he keeps talking about it in every dam interview like it was some unjust and horrible decision loss on his recordwhich it was not and was a clear victory for Wand.

The only people who think Bisping won that fight are Bisping and Gareth A. Davies.

Everybody likes Bisping when he's getting beat up, not just Americans.

Kind of true. I belong to a few places on the net where UK fans are and not every UK fan likes Bisping now.

by Shocbomb on Jun 3, 2010 10:01 AM EDT up reply actions

Well I know for a fact he is not winning over the Canadian fans...

The funny thing is everyone that I was watching the fight with last week all admitted we were behind Bisping until the Hamill win. To celebrate with the arrogance that he displayed over such a close fight (that he lost) really turned my stomach.

That was the fight that turned the MMA publics opinion against Bisping. Coming out of the ultimate Fighter Bisping had a hell of alot of fans in North America until that fight.

by Shocbomb on Jun 3, 2010 10:03 AM EDT up reply actions

Figs nailed it. The way he acted after the Hamill fight turned me for good.

by Conesie on Jun 3, 2010 10:18 AM EDT up reply actions

That's right I won, back to wrestling.

Meanwhile Hamill has evolved a hell of a lot more than Bisping has since.

I like Bisping. I don’t think he’s anywhere near as arrogant as other fighters out there. He comes across as modest more than he does arrogant in my opinion.
I don’t really understand where all the hate comes from.
I think he can win over the fans eventually and I hope he does.

I am not alone... My Wolfpack just grew.

“You guys might not know this, but I consider myself a bit of a loner. I tend to think of myself as a one-man wolf pack. But when my sister brought Doug home, I knew he was one of my own. And my wolf pack… it grew by one. So there… there were two of us in the wolf pack… I was alone first in the pack, and then Doug joined in later.”

I actually like Bisping alot more than I used to. He is never gonna win the American crown over because of the Transatlantic love hate relationship with England.

by The Omaplatapus on Jun 3, 2010 11:15 AM EDT reply actions

The hate has nothing to do at all with him being English.

by Shocbomb on Jun 3, 2010 11:34 AM EDT up reply actions

you actually hate someone you dont know? hate is a strong word.

by The Omaplatapus on Jun 3, 2010 11:38 AM EDT up reply actions

HA-HA-You sound just like my mom, and I never said I hate look at the post and my previous post above on Bisping and how I feel about him.BIG difference there in the wrods I and the now.

by Shocbomb on Jun 3, 2010 11:45 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed

People seem to like Ross Pearson, Dan Hardy quite a bit.

Obviously Dan has some holes in his game, and he can be cocky, but he’s funny doing it.

Pearson comes across as a very hard worker, humble background, doing all the right things and putting on exciting fights and very low drama

Being English isn’t what makes people hate on Bisping

by hardlyworking on Jun 3, 2010 12:35 PM EDT up reply actions

so whats with the photoshops of him in uniform etc?

by The Omaplatapus on Jun 3, 2010 12:41 PM EDT up reply actions

When fans dislike someone they usually pick on the thing that makes that person different, even if that’s not the thing that bothers them. Bisping’s most obvious differentiating trait — at least for American fans — is that he’s English, hence the photoshops.

Fans like British fighters just fine. They just don’t like Bisping.

Tatum: I think he's a good man. I like him. I got nothing against him, but I'm definitely gonna make orphans of his children.

Bisping, want some PR advice?

Why don’t you sit this next one out, stop talking for a while.

I think that one thing is that Bisping is hard to get behind simply because he is in mid-tier to upper-mid-tier purgatory. He is well-rounded, but not great at any one thing, and it doesn’t really seem like he will get over that hump to be a Title contender. I have noticed that after getting KOed by Henderson, Bisping has come off as much more humble.

by chrisbboy82 on Jun 3, 2010 12:54 PM EDT reply actions

I am a Bisping fan

I liked the guy on TUF and liked a lot of his fights at 205. For me, the opposite of what he is saying is true. Slowly but surely my “fandom” is eroding.

ALL OF YOU LISTEN TO MEE, DON'T DISTURB HERE, I WILL CALL POLICE CATCH YOU, DON'T COME TO MY BANGOLOW HOUSE, UNDERSTAND, O.K. I HATE ALL OF YOU.

I have always liked Bisping personally he has a good personality, confident but easy going. I believe that the way he presents himself gets lost in translation. Really it’s the dry British humour that most north Americans don’t get. There is only a few fighters that I intensely dislike and that is Lesnar and Koschek who are Class A Douches.

by pRoXiMo on Jun 3, 2010 2:12 PM EDT via mobile reply actions   1 recs

I was gonna post something very similar

I know it’s an awful cliche, but it does seem like a lot of MMA fans from outside the UK simply don’t get his sense of humour. Personally I’ve always thought Bisping is genuinely funny at times and generally comes over as being a pretty sound guy.
I’m actually not a huge fan of his as a fighter but there’s far worse. There’s also guys who regularly exhibit much crappier attitudes in and out of the ring who don’t get half as much flak

by Mattyjudo on Jun 3, 2010 8:27 PM EDT up reply actions

Bisping is too aware of his image

From one of his first fights in the UFC I remember him entering the arena and thinking "He’s not a tough guy but he’s trying to play one. Really, really trying hard to portray what a tough English “gangster” type would be like if they fought in the UFC. But he isn’t one, and we can tell and so it’s weird to watch this."

You can see it in his facial expressions, it’s the kind of thing you can’t hide.

I think alot of fans see that and that’s why they don’t think him – nothing to do with his birthplace.

He simply isn’t genuine, he’s self-conscious and we can all tell he’s trying to project himself as someone he’s not.

by Django Z on Jun 3, 2010 4:17 PM EDT reply actions

Perhaps this is a lost in translation thing, as being a brit myself I really disgree.
Something I rather like about Bisping is that he seems to avoid the horrible extra-in-a-Guy-Ritchie-film ‘hardman’ cliches that all right thinking people hate so much. To me (and I don’t live too far away from Lancashire) it’s always seemed that Mike has never presented himself as anything but what he is: a bright, lower-middle class lad from a little town up north. As far as I’ve seen he never alludes to any ‘gangster’ credentials and doesn’t talk about having a “chequered past” or anything like that in interviews.
The only UK MMA fighters that spring to my mind as being guilty of what you describe are Lee Murray and Paul Daley. As fighters I am (or was in Lee’s case) a big fan but personality wise I always got the vibe form them that you obviously do from Bisping. Like I say, maybe it’s a cultural thing?
