It was as if time stood still
I remember when I was 7 years old and my dad said "You won't believe it...Mike Tyson lost." I looked at him like "Huh"?
This is like that moment. Except I kind of wanted this one to happen.
Not saying it's over, not saying he's done. This just feels like a turning point.
I'm actually mad that his loss didn't come in the UFC cage and this loss almost assures us that Fedor will never fight in the UFC.

I picked him to lose, but I’m not really happy about it…I just wish things would have been different. Fedor in the UFC as the #1 Heavyweight on the planet was something that would have been huge in the history of the sport. Now, he’s lost in Strikeforce, against Werdum, who was cut in the UFC.
So anticlimactic.
From all reports she (Cyborg) pretty much only spars men, and has been known to put some out during training. - Rudinho479
Eh
MMA is super special anyways. I didn’t want to see him lose like this. Its not any more special than any of the other realistic alternatives to this. It would’ve been more special to see him at least loose in a title bout.
Now we live with the very real possibility that Fedor could lose 2 out of 3 fights to finish out his MMA career. Its is very much a possibility that Fedor could beat Werdum again in a rematch and lose to Overeem.
And for those of us who know Fedor, who followed Fedor, who fell in love with Pride, and for whom a day doesn’t go by when at least for a second your mind doesnt drift back to Japanese MMA’s golden days…. a 32-2-1 record doesnt do anything to diminish what Fedor was. But for the generations of fans coming it, and brought to us in part by the UFC fanboys, Fedor won’t be appreciated for what he was, which was an absolute Titan. Someone who, for a long time, was looked as more than human. Untouchable. Not in a GSP way or an Anderson Silva way, but in an Archangel Michael way.
Moisture is the essence of wetness.
I kinda think this might help him get into the UFC.
USMC vet. MMA nut. Fedor tapped in 69 seconds.....deal with it.
Pain don't hurt...
I couldn’t agree more, I was in the middle of saying something similar but you summed it up.
The mystique is gone.
I think the terms of negotiation for M1/Fedor just changed a ton.

This still tells us nothing about potential about with Cain, Shane, Lesnar and JDS since none possess the guard skills of Werdum.
Food goes in here
I was watching the Tyson fight live
I was a huge Tyson fan. I thought he was invincible. Somewhere in the 3rd round I turned to my dad and said “Tyson is going to lose.” As the fight wore on I found myself rooting for Buster Douglas, for the underdog, for the improbable and impossible victory. To see Tyson KO’d and then fumbling around on the canvas for his mouthpiece was a moment I will never forget. It made me realize that no matter who you are, what you do, there is always somebody better than you out there. Even if it was just for a moment.
"I will do nothing lightly. When I walk, I will walk heavily. When I fight, I will fight with conviction. When I speak, I will speak strongly. When I love, I will love with everything"
That KO was some iconic shit
I mean he didn’t get knocked out. He was grabbing for the mouthpiece and I remember thinking when I saw it “Just stand up Mike, leave it alone.” But he wouldn’t and he didn’t and he probably couldn’t.
Even when Fedor got subbed it wasn’t a big deal to me as I knew him actually facing top talent would lead to a defeat eventually.
Cause there's only one, and that's me
You understand? for all that fighting, you understand
That sucka think he good, that sucka think he can whoop me
And i know he can't whoop me, Ay boy, the n**** whole style is chump
