UFC Heavyweight Champ Brock Lesnar Hype video

I made this video a week ago while watching UFC 100 again. Lesnar is one of my favorite fighters, not because of his pro wrestling ties, but because he became so great, so quickly. And his evolution as a fighter in just two years has been nothing short of amazing. if you're a true "hardcore" MMA fan, you can't help but respect his accent to the top of the UFC despite some of his emotional antics.

I decided not to call it a "Highlight Video" because the man only has 5 fights and, frankly, that's not much footage especially for the length of music I wanted to use. Plus, I wanted it to do more than just "highlight" Brock's skills; I wanted it to elicit emotion out of the viewer. That's why I chose to put it together like I did, building to a crescendo where he finally enters the cage. Those that are fans will appreciate the parallels drawn between his training regimen and his in-cage application. Those that are not fans will find fault in his self-indulgence.

All in all, I am a rookie at the video creation game and am pleased with the finished product. I did have more that I wanted to "do" with the video that I did not possess the technical knowhow, but I feel that in the end, it represents the vision I had when I started it.

Brock Lesnar faces a big challenge ahead of him at UFC 116 against Shane Carwin. I'll probably write something up about that in the upcoming week. If you like the video, let me know. If you see where some improvements could be made, say so. If you wanna talk about Brock's skills, or lack thereof, do that as well.

well done

i like what you did with mixing in the training. it tells a good story.

i wanted to do more of that with the Jon Jones video I posted earlier but I had limited time because of my song. I wanted my vid to start out action packed and was only using 720p HD source footage.

What software are you using to edit?

Yeah I did, but I figured I posted it in the wrong section because I actually made this, it wasn’t some video I ran across. I’m still figuring the site out.

Evolution?

Ten fights from now he’ll be taking opponents down, putting 285 lbs on their back, and punching them in the face until the ref calls the fight. So I’m a little thrown off by your use of “evolution”.

Re: Evolution

Well, if you take at look at his first fight with Min Soo Kim, he came right out and took him down. His posturing and separation was non-existent. He just beat on Min’s head until he tapped.

Against Mir the first time, he took him down again and his GnP was rudimentary at best. He showed a little standup skills knocking Mir down with pawing right straights and showed the ability to power out of subs until he messed up and gt caught.

Against Herring, he showed much improved stand up utilizing punches, knees and leg kicks. His control on the ground was a lot better. He learned pacing and timing.

Against Randy, he took what he had in the Herring fight and used it to finish his opponent. Again, he displayed good standup (for an MMA rookie) utilizing knees, elbows, punches (jabs, straights, hooks, uppercuts), and leg kicks. He showed that his clinch game was strong controlling Randy who is a master at the clinch. He got cut and didn’t panic at the first sign of blood. He showed great head movement (for a rookie and a HW) and was light on his feet. Most importantly, he showed that he knew how to finish someone once they were on the ground.

And finally against Mir the second time, he took all that he learned against his previous opponents and put them to work here. He showed great gameplanning by training to keep someone with active hips like Mir flat to the ground where he couldn’t move, isolating the arm to prevent him from blocking the punches. He showed good recovery skills after the knee and finished Mir off a minute later.

Carwin is a large fighter with good wrestling skills, so I’m sure Marty Morgan and Brock are coming up with a gameplan to minimize risk and exploit Carwin’s weaknesses.

Yeahhhh…. kinda look at evolution as say, GSP becoming an incredible wrestler. Using a little bit of dirty boxing skills and using your 280 lb body to control guys and hold them against the cage doesn’t exactly scream evolution. Now when he starts looking to change position to go for the submital, then we can maybe talk about evolution. But I’m not holding my breath waiting for Rogan to scream “Lesnar by D’arce choke!!!!!”

prays Lesnar doesn’t beat Carwin by D’arce choke
