Anderson Silva says "I don't think a fight with GSP [George St. Pierre] will ever happen. It's not a fight I want to have and I don't think GSP wants it either."

Silva doesn't want to fight someone?
Shocking.

I really don't think he has any interest in dropping weight.
What ever he’ d tool GSP anyway.

Actually at the end of the day
it doesn’t matter whether he wants it to happen. If Dana decides it’s the best business decision then they’re going to fight.
only way dana can force him is if GSP moves up in weight.
that’s all GSP’s choice. Dana can’t force either of them to fight up or down in weight.
This must be a guy who either
…isn’t getting a percentage of the PPV dollars or isn’t good at math. A fight at GSP would sell better than any other fight of his career and would – win or lose – raise his standing immeasurably.

At this point, after the Maia fight...
I seriously wonder if we understand what motivates Anderson and if money is one of those factors?
Dude. It's Anderson Silva.
If he gives a damn he will end Sonnen’s night by either sub or KO.

didn’t he say either before or after the maia fight that he was interested in testing himself at 170 again? not that he isn’t prone to making conflicting statements, just sayin…
here's the older quote:
http://www.bloodyelbow.com/2010/4/7/1409835/anderson-silva-seriously
“I’d like to test myself and I always love to take on new challenges,” Silva said. “It’s not that I want to go fight Georges St. Pierre for his title. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s the reigning champion, the absolute champion, in that weight category. But I just want to test myself and see how I’d do at that weight.”
i suppose he could be trying to say that he just wants to fight at 170 occassionally, and not go after the belt. who knows.
Personally
The GSP vs Silva fight sounds exciting but I’m not pressed to see it. Anderson is just too big Rush. However I am intrigued by Anderson moving up to 205 and contending for the title. Hopefully Shogun will have a speedy and successful recovery. If GSP takes fights at MW, there are matches that would tickle me fancy….Sonnen, Okami, I’d even buy into a Damien Maia match up.

Agreed...
For some reason a fight with GSP doesn’t do much for me, whoever moves to the other’s weight class will be at an extreme disadvantage…and frankly I think Anderson could have a really exciting future at 205, instead of becoming a skeleton to fight at 170.

anderson is afraid of gsp
people make a stink about fedor not signing with ufc
saying he’s afraid to fight the best
well gsp is the best the ufc has to offer and anderson is afraid to fight him
at least with fedor it’s an issue of contracts and business
with anderson gsp it’s just a matter of anderson not wanting to fight gsp. anderson doesn’t want to fight the best.

i must say
i don’t think any fighter is afraid of any other fighter and if they are then they’re in the wrong sport
i used the word “afraid” in jest because of the widespread use of the word in regards to fedor not signing with the ufc.

…and you deliberately skipped the part where GSP is uninterested in fighting AS.

anderson silva is a rich man he doesnt have to fight gsp for payperview % points,, plus i totally agree with him that gsp doesnt want that fight.. everyone hates on anderson but deep down they know silva would rock gsp
disagree
i think gsp is not only a better champ and a better fighter but he’s fought tougher competition
anderson hasn’t really fought anyone of merit since hendo imo

He’s playing games. Dana says that GSP is too small for AS, AS says that he want to test himself at 170. Dana says that fans want to see AS fight GSP, AS is uninterested. People want KO, AS dances. People are expecting dance from him and pulls off matrix shit.
It must be amusing for him.

That's idiotic...
who exactly has he ducked? Who has he refused to fight, regardless of whether or not you liked HOW he fought them. He has fought everyone the UFC has told him to as well as moved up to fight at 205 while the UFC built a contender at 185…how is that like how Fedor avoided signing with the UFC repeatedly to fight lesser competition in Bodog, Affliction and Strikeforce?

He pissed and moaned about both Hendo and Marqurdt
and wouldn’t fight either again until they fought each other. He then talked shit about Vitor not deserving a shot, being unworthy, and railed on him for accepting the fight. That was after doing the same thing about Wanderlei (before he lost to Rich) and Anderson claimed he wouldn’t fight a former training partner and it was disgraceful for Wandy to want to. And to be fair, he did avoid Demian for two whole rounds a la Kalib Starnes, which I’d say is even more pathetic than picking fights.

So he didn't want to fight...
Hendo and Marquardt again who lasted a total of 2 and 1/2 rounds against him total. And despite voicing opposition to fighting certain fighters, he always does so in the end whether or not we like his tactics during those fights. Frankly most of the time the “complaining” that is attributed to him in the media later comes out to be poor translation by Ed Soares (you’d think he would be better) and selective quoting by our loving MMA media.
Again, I don’t see how it is even close to Fedor’s time in Bodog, Affliction and now Strikeforce.
I’d love for Anderson to shut up and just make his points about UFC matchmaking by humiliating the competition they put in front of him though quick destruction, however that still doesn’t make it on par with the competition ducking that Fedor (or more to the point, M1…but I’m not the one who started the comparison with Fedor) has done since Pride.

I was implying
that he was kinda stringing us along about what Anderson wants to do with is career, not his level of competition.
