UFC 116 Preview: Shane Carwin Apologizes for Boring Interview With Brock Lesnar
On the UG:
Shane Carwin - "I wanted to tell you that I am now sponsored by the Night Time Nyquill. The interview during the TUF Finale was our attempt at gorilla marketing. If you were sleepy or felt "bored" by my interview then we hit our mark. Imagine what the actual product will do for you if I was able to put you to sleep with my words. Nyquill it helps you sleep like my right hand. Available at fine Pharmacies everywhere."
"Man what a boring interview. They should have played the part where Goldberg was talking about going hunting with Brock."
"No excuse but it was a lazy day and I had just been in a epic water balloon fight with my son and I was trying to keep a straight face. I will do better if they ever have me back."

Epic water balloon fights also make me tired. You know how much hard work goes into filling those damn balloons?

Isn't this the guy that said he could go 7 rounds?
He got gassed by a water balloon fight.

Oh god..Memories
In HS my buddy had one of those. I had a S-10 and he would sit in the back while me and my friend were up front, he would lay flat and we would creep by the movie theater while all the littl emiddle school kids were out, stop and act like we are looking at movie times, knock on the window and he would pop up and just spray EVERYONE down.. GOD I miss those days..
LOL we also went through the McDonald’s drive thru and he was just laying there with the watergun cocked and pointed at the window.. As soon as she opened the window I left off the brake just enough to give him a shot and boom high pressure water gun to the face! All you could hear was a “what the ?? ahhhh”

Such a contrast.
Brock is all macho bluster, hunting, and the myth of the great American man.
Shane is just a normal guy with lots of heart who works hard for his kids.
Yes
Brock doesn’t care about his family and has no heart. Spends all his money on submachine guns and cocaine.

I think its just about perception. Brock is sold as the kind of guy that hunts the most dangerous game in his spare time, and Carwin is sold as the provider. Obviously neither are one hundred percent true. At least I hope not, I really don’t want to be hunted by Lesnar.

They’re probably more alike than we realize. Carwin wears white gloves and Lesnar acts defiant, but they’re both hard working family guys with the same flaws and weaknesses as the rest of us. It’s just funny that people see them the way they’re portrayed publicly.

Fighters are people, media spins story lines, and fight fans are marks for drama. Totally agree. I admit I’m guilty of it sometimes.

Carwin is really into hunting, fishing, guns, and the outdoors as well.Lesnar and Carwin would probably get along pretty well if they were about to engage in a cage fight.

My point is...
I don’t like Brocks politics, his attitude, or his outlook.
And honestly I don’t like his style of fighting either.
Media spin or not but I’d much rather hang out with Shane than Brock. He seems like the kind of violent prick who would sell you down the river, rather than help you out.

Hey
when he goes on ESPN with Dana White and starts spewing garbage about how Canada’s Health Care sucks, that’s all on him.
Nobody was asking him that shit on a sports show.

“I love Canada,” said Lesnar. “Some of the best people and best hunting in the world, but I wasn’t in the right facility.”
“They couldn’t do nothing for me,” he added. “It was like I was in a Third World country, I just looked at my wife and she saved my life and I had to get out of there.”
Not flattering but not dripping with hate, either. He went from a small town hospital to the Mayo Clinic. It’s a world of difference.
Brock actually seems like he would be extremely loyal to those close to him.

All I care about is whether he entertains in the cage when he fights, not during interviews. Chuck Liddell certainly didn’t become the biggest star in MMA because of his interviews.

Chuck is pretty entertaining out of the octagon. Intentional or not.

Chuck was also a fighter who handled his image very well. Mohawk, head tat, painted toe nails, chihuaha, he was the tough guy you loved because he was sensitive. The knockouts made him a star, but the public persona didn’t hurt.

The interviews that Rogan or Goldberg do during a show are so bizarre. The fighters never say (or are asked) anything interesting or compelling. Especially when they do those awkward interviews when Rogan sits in between the two guys. I don’t think they’ve ever done an in-show interview that’s increased my want to see a fight.

I haven’ really talked to any casual fan who has said they wanted to see this fight because of something Brock or Carwin has said. The ones I’ve spoken to can’t wait to see this fight because both guys are beast and they want to see them go at it because they are so big and devastating.

Carwin is going to have a hard time knocking brock out when he spends majority of the fight on his back
"I’m the UFC heavyweight champion and I will be until the day I decide I don’t want to be. And that isn’t anytime soon." - Brock Lesnar
Exactly
Unless Lesnar is foolish enough to try to stand with Carwin to prove some sort of idiotic point.
The first time Carwin connects with Brock will be the last – Lesnar will either be KTFO, or he will take Carwin down and start his GnP. Repeat as needed.

Pressing him against the cage, then sitting on top of his back completely flattened out?
I would say that those aren’t especially difficult positions to get a stoppage.
Here is what we should all get out of this
That fucking Fedor and Werdum had a more interesting joint interview than Brock and Carwin. Fedor and Werdum!
he should apologize for putting that lameass interim belt on a mantle behind him

LMAO @ Robert Downey !!!
NICE !!!
I guess it would behoove people to know that he has "UFC Heavywieght Champion already labels on his website header..
It would be a shame if or when he loses to Brock.. Because the “interim title” was a modest joke..

Directly after UFC 100 I hated Lesnar...
but so much time has passed I almost forget why. For some reason I find myself wanting him to crush Carwin and I don’t really know why? I think that his “no media” tour made him look kinda dooshy and pretentious. I think that I would rather Brock remain the champion for many years because he is all caveman/viking-like and is a great heel. A great heel = entertainment.
