Hamill: The Movie Teaser Trailer

This Fan Post was promoted to the front page by Nick Thomas.
Trailer for the upcoming film based on the life of deaf UFC fighter Matt Hamill:
Hamill is a sports drama depicting the struggles and successes Matt faces on the way to becoming a champion. Raised among those with the ability to hear, Matt later finds himself no less an outsider amidst the Deaf Community. Through sheer determination, he uses his perceived disability as an asset, and becomes both the first deaf wrestler to win a National Collegiate Championship and an inspirational force to the hearing and deaf alike.
Directed by Oren Kaplan. Starring Rusell Harvard, Shoshannah Stern and Rich "Ace" Franklin; the two leads are both deaf actors. It's supposed to be out in 2010.

Forgot about this project

legitimately interested in it, which is something I’ve never said about any movie involving mixed martial artists in any way, or any movie involving mixed martial arts for that matter.

Wondering if he’s gonna walk around saying “WOOOOOOOOO!” for two hours…..

Wiw, I didn’t know about this thing, what a good idea… Not only for Matt, but also for the sport aswell.

lol at Rich Franklin just standing there shaking his head, I wonder what he was thinking about? Cyborg Solider or whatever the hell that movie was called?

uuuh yeah I write for the Cincinnati Enquirer. Thanks?

There isn’t a more worthy story to make a movie about. Is there a book?

I’d bet 90% of this movie is sentimental horseshit pulled out of thin air, tacked on to the general timeline of Hamill’s life.

If they got the Rock to do an inspirational speech in American Sign Language, complete with all his neck/head/eyebrow twitches……..I’d watch it.

Exactly

did he really lay in a fountain in a tuxedo, that shit better not have been a rental.

Agreed. I don’t think it looks good at all, to be honest. Is this straight-to-DVD?

Rich is playing his high school wrestling coach, not his coach at Purdue.

So who will play Rich body-kicking Matt into oblivion?

Jim Carey.

As I recall, the movie is mostly about his childhood and collegiate/international wrestling career. His arrival in the UFC is a very small part of the film and comes at the tail end.

Because Fitch would certainly be a more interesting and charismatic actor than Franklin.

Also, Rich is in it because him and Hamill used to train together and are supposedly good friends, not because they needed an MMA fighter cameo.

I have asthma and still play sports....

same kind of thing, right? I want a movie deal….

by MauiPimpin on Jun 17, 2010 8:18 PM EDT reply actions

Were you a national champion wrestler?

Matt Hamill was a 3x NCAA Div. III National Champion at the Rochester Institute of Technology besides being the first deaf fighter to compete in the UFC. Have you done anything close to that?

by KahilBS_Marshal on Jun 17, 2010 8:35 PM EDT up reply actions

See?

Thanks bro. If I ever get the funding it’ll surely be worth it.

sorry guys but this........

just looks horrible. Dont get me wrong, Hamills story is great and I am really happy for him but I just see no need for a movie about him at this point. Now the guy with no arms or legs that wrestled and had a MMA fight….. thats a fucking movie!

by b2tharad on Jun 17, 2010 9:37 PM EDT reply actions

I like that the actor playing Hamill is deaf.

I wonder how close the movie will be to his real life?

by J_Maddux on Jun 17, 2010 9:40 PM EDT reply actions

Ending

Is the movie gonna end with him getting his ass handed to him by Jon Jones? or will that only be released in the director’s cut?

by DCJon. on Jun 17, 2010 10:51 PM EDT reply actions

Alternate Ending

you know, since he won the fight.

by seanerk88 on Jun 21, 2010 1:19 AM EDT via mobile up reply actions

I’m pretty sure the movie is primarily about childhood through his collegiate wrestling career. His MMA career is a very small part of the film.

by Steve4192 on Jun 17, 2010 11:14 PM EDT up reply actions

It should end with him either getting robbed in the Bisping fight,or kicking Munoz into a living death and jumping about like he just won the Publisher’s Clearing House sweepstakes.
