Strikeforce Los Angeles Results: Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos Destroys Marius Zaromskis
DREAM champion Marius Zaromskis took a beating from Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos that was merciful only in its brevity, getting the TKO win in the first round.
Santos caught Zaromskis with a punch to the chin as Marius was coming in on a flying knee and followed with hard shots on the ground.
There was a lot of speculation going into this fight that the legendary brawler Cyborg might not handle the huge weight cut to make welterweight. He showed at the expense of Marius Zaromskis that he might have found his ideal fighting weight at 170 pounds.
This marks Zaromskis second consecutive loss in Strikeforce, both brutal TKO stoppages. He should really consider cutting down to lightweight as he was dwarfed by both Cyborg and Nick Diaz, his previous opponent.
Santos has made a huge step towards revitalizing his career with this high profile win. Strikeforce's thin welterweight division means its a short step to contention for Cyborg. But many fans will be tempted by a fantasy Cyborg vs Melvin Manhoef rematch. Their first match is seen by many as the greatest brawl in MMA history.

This is why I like Strikeforce
Put together entertaining fights with what they have. Who cares about a belt? Seeing Cyborg fight again will be worth it.
DAMN....
Cyborg won…. I guess his wife must be brushing up off him! Bwahahahahaha!!!!!!

Great showing for Cyborg, shitty showing for dream. The partiner ship with SF is killing their champions cred. If Aoki came over and fought Josh Thompson there is a good chance he would lose again as well.
It was one thing for the Dream champ to loose bad to the SF champ. But it is really bad for him to loose to some one that hasn’t even been in the hunt.
Note from office of the Dream Chaiman – “Hey Coker FU!!!”
If Kawajiri takes Aoki's title
He could very well come over and beat Melendez.

Melendez is a better version of Kawajiri. (In fact, IMO, there are like 7 better versions of Kawajiri in America.)
Kawajiri is a product of being the best wrestler in Japan. In America, he wouldn’t be close. Kawajiri’s only great wins of his entire career are Vitor and JZ. JZ’s only great win was Vitor as well. IMO, he’s one of the most overrated fighters out there and his record is padded. He is not a BAD fighter by any means, he’s just a product of a fairly easy road and a style that is suited to win in a place without wrestlers.

Zaromskis was dropped like names at a Hollywood party
Fire Mauro.
Marius has got miserable defense. For all of his power he just doesn’t have enough good defense. I remember earlier this year before he fought Diaz some users clamored for GSP vs. Zaromskis. It would be over in the 1st round.
Entertaining as always by Cyborg.

I was just kidding with my earlier comment. But I agree 100% with Nate. Cyborg’s old match with Melvin a few years ago is a thing of beauty!

The tattoos made him win.
I will get more as well.
Zaromskis is a dumb fighter, he does not fight smart, both in the Diaz fight and this one, the flying knee was absurd at that point. He really should think more about game plan, etc
That...
and drop to lightweight.

Does anyone know the story behind Cyborgs face?
is that acne scarring or did he get burned or what?

He sets people on fire and eats them while they’re burning? It’s my only guess…

Perhaps being the best of DREAM's brand new welterweight division
Might not be the ranking device we thought it was?
The Zaromskis hype is now OFFICIALLY dead
I’ll still enjoy watching him in Japan though.
