Chael Sonnen Goes Overboard at UFC 115 Weigh Ins, Lies About Twitter Account
Kevin Iole reports from tonight's press conference:
Asked about how the fight would go, Sonnen said he had some ideas but wasn't sure. "I can only attempt to speculate," he said of how Silva would attack him. "He has a black belt from the Nogueira brothers, but to me, a black belt from the Nogueira brothers is like a free toy in a Happy Meal. One [of the Nogueira brothers] is a punching bag. The other, I just ignore."
He had been making similar attacks about Silva and Soares on Twitter, but said on stage Friday that he does not have a Twitter account. However, he told Yahoo! Sports in February that he did, as he also does at the 45:40 mark of a video interview with reporter Ariel Helwani.
This begs the question, why would Sonnen bother lying about a Twitter account? Because it's causing him trouble in his campaign for political office. From Huffington Post:
Sonnen has become famous in the Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) world through a twitter account that has been making increasingly outrageous and sometimes racist statements. On twitter.com/sonnench there are memorable tweets such as: "I'm a gangster from Oregon"... "Anderson, [Chael Sonnen's next MMA opponent] you are going to be on your back more than a pornstar with a mortgage"... and what I find most offensive "Ed [a Brazilian American MMA manager], pray to whatever Demon effigy you prance and dance in front of with your piglet tribe of savages that I decide not to CRUCIFY you."
I see this last tweet as racist and xenophobic and was wondering how a candidate of a major party for the State Legislature was getting away with this. So I reached out to some Oregon press asking them why they haven't challenged this candidate on this type of talk. A reporter I emailed said he would take up the story. A couple of days ago he emailed me and said that Sonnen denied that he ever made the statements and that the twitter account is a fake one.
Ben Fowlkes went to the trouble to utterly depants Sonnen's claims that it's not his Twitter account:
Sonnen did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the Twitter account, but at the very least the UFC seems to be under the impression that it's his account, as @sonnench appears right between @ChuckLiddell and @SugaRashadEvans on the UFC's Twitter follow list.
What's more, an account claiming to be the "Official Campaign Twitter" of Sonnen (Twitter.com/VoteSonnen) is following only one other Twitter user, and you can probably guess which one (hint: it's not the Iron Sheik).
That tends to make one think that either this alleged online impersonator has been very busy creating and then barely maintaining Twitter accounts, or else he's so good that he even fooled Sonnen's campaign.
...
That's one question that springs to mind. Another is, if you were going to create a fake Twitter account for someone, and if that account quickly gained almost 6,000 followers, wouldn't you do more with it? Maybe I don't completely understand the mind of someone who would create a fake Twitter in the first place, but it seems like it's hardly worth the trouble for ten tweets in six months, especially if two of them link to Sonnen's actual campaign website.
Sonnen's trash talking has certainly generated a great deal of attention for him, but in my opinion he's crossed the line when he's disrespecting the Nogueira brothers and lying about his Twitter account. I for one will be rooting for Anderson Silva to actually try against Sonnen, because if he does, that should make for an entertaining and richly deserved beat down.

At first I was neutral, but his attacks of the nog brothers and machida are completely uncalled for.
I actually like Sonnen even more for this bi-polar nutty behavior...
I think that he should start insulting everybody from the president to the cast of the show Yo Gabba Gabba… The nuttier that dude gets, the more that I like him.

I see what your're saying
BUT a lot of this is just completely useless and irrelevant to the fight. I find it interesting how hes at a point where he has insulted folks associated with Anderson more than Anderson.
I guess
I can see what your saying, but he won’t even man up and admit to what he’s said.
That’s not ‘nutty’ that’s pussy.
Shogun lost a close decision! Everyone get crazy!
I wouldn't...
really categorize anything that Sonnen says or does as being “pussy”. Aside from denying the twitter account, he has been very vocal during live interviews about hating on everybody and talking shit on everybody. He has said nuttier shit during those live interviews than was said during those twitter accounts.

I just have an issue with the Huffington Post. It’s a known lib rag that’s had plenty of controversy surrounding it in the past. Lots of people have downloaded hit pieces onto the site and the old dried up hag that has an unpronounceable maiden name (now she’s divorced) enjoys allowing conservatives to be skewered at any time possible. While she eventually likes to distance herself from the comments section, they’re rarely deleted if they are nasty enough toward a conservative. The story may be true but just the Huffandpuff post as a source smells fishy to me. Even if it a s—t talking dude that normally does a bit of s—t talking.

I am glad that someone held him to the fire on that. Pretty much every MMA site stood by and watched.
All this and a bold faced lie as well
Perhaps Chael, you were not meant for the spotlight.
Is it possible that he is also just a little bordeline-y? I’m starting to think he isn’t just going too far with trash talk, but that maybe he is not the most mentally healthy person.
If Silva shuts Sonnen up
and does it decisively, I will never complain about the Maia fight again. Ever. I’ll even compliment his dance moves.

Too bad they don't allow soccer kicks anymore
Because Sonnen would get rolled into the shape of a ball and then get kicked around by Anderson. The referee would allow that because the referee would be Dan Miragliotta.

Racist comments or not,
fake twitter account or not,
cheesy trashtalk or not,
Sonnen is doing a GREAT job on keeping people interested in seeing him fight Anderson Silva. (which is also crucial because of Silva’s last performance)
As true as that is, and it’s good for Chael, he’s doing a lot of long term damage as well. When it starts to hurt your life outside of MMA, like it is his political campaign, that’s not worth it at all.

true,
but that is why he’s starting damage control by denying it’s his. haha… I hope his political career doesn’t get hurt by this though, he’s a pretty smart man, and he’s obviously saying the most shit he could come up with in hopes of hyping up the fight…. I wouldn’t take his statements too seriously. and these people being all hurt about it should learn to see through all of Sonnen’s layers of crap, and see what Chael is obviously trying to do…ruffle some feathers.
by Anton Tabuena on Jun 11, 2010 11:18 PM EDT up reply actions
Yep, I take everything said in fight promotion with a grain of salt. And damage control is good, but obvious lies will not help. Especially with as much coverage him getting busted will get on MMA blogs, what the media might have let slip, will now be one “Chael Sonnen MMA” search away.
I’d just come forward and tell everyone “Hey, I got carried away trying to hype a fight, which is of a great deal of importance (explain PPV sales, and A. Silva’s last fight), and hey, bullshitting is also a key role of a politician…so…it’s just practice!”
Maybe not that last part, but anything is better than getting caught up in an obvious lie. Now all he can do is play ignorant and say he misunderstood the differences between facebook, twitter, myspace, etc. and thought he had a twitter, but didn’t.

this has become standard for Anton
As soon as any fighter makes inappropriate and/or offensive remarks you jump in, telling people to lighten up and asking them to realize the speaker is “just trying to ruffle feathers”. What makes you think we don’t realize what the speaker is doing? Where you’re mistaken is where you assume that makes it OK. It’s not OK to make racist/homophobic/sexist comments “just to ruffle feathers”. And it’s not a matter of “lightening up” either. Enjoying sexist jokes or celebrating racism is not an indicator of having a good sense of humor. When inappropriate comments are by made by a public figure, especially someone who reflects the reputation of the sport, our role is to condemn those remarks, pure and simple. To make excuses, or to go further and celebrate the fighter who are brave enough enough to make offensive comments on Twitter (like that takes a lot of guts!) is shameful, frankly.
The Nogueira disrespect is too much. I met and rolled with the brothers at a seminar and they a couple of the most genuine, likable guys you’ll ever meet. His prior “trash talk” was idiotic, but now I actually dislike the guy. But this isn’t a Koscheck-like dislike… I’m not going to watch his fights hoping to see him get KTFO. I’ve moved into ambivalence. F’ Sonnen.

Yep this isn’t about him getting the “old school religious fundamental Republican” votes it’s about the general election in Oregon’s 37th district. Fundamental Republicans will probably vote for him if he shows up to fight Andserson Silva in black face and a afro wig (of course they may also shun him just based on the fact that he is a MMA fighter and apparantly God doesn’t like MMA), but just getting the hardcore Republican vote won’t win him this election. The question will be how his antics go over with undecided voters and independants not how he holds onto his political base.

the solid Republicans and solid Democrats only get you 20-40% (depending on what district) – you need to get centrists and independant voters to win.

Chael Sonnen seems to have trolled himself

Kind of weak lying about his twitter account, Come on Chael if you are going to say soemthing at least be man enuff to admit it now and don’t hide behind a total lie like that now. On the other hand he’s not 100% off on BIG NOG becoming a punching bag now. He oes take way way to much damage. So the Nog brother comments don’t really bother that much at all. And I really don’t see how the tweet I’m a gangster from Oregon is raciest at all ? The piglet tribe of savages cooment now is border line but still its all on how one interprets the comments. What really gets me I did not see 1/100 the outrage buy MMA fans when someone actually did make racist remarks to another fight only 2 weeks ago, That being Rashad and what he said about Rampage. Damn, do you guys even know what “racist” means?
“Sambo” and “Uncle Tom” are not racist terms, just demeaning.
Who is the last white person Rashad called Sambo? When the demeaning term you choose has extra derrogatory meaning to one race vs. another then we have a “racial slur”. Sorry but to label Rashad’s comments not racist and Cheal’s blatantly racist is hypocricy.
by pwrcartel on Jun 12, 2010 2:42 PM EDT via mobile up reply actions
Do you really not understand the difference?
Rashad was accusing Rampage of acting similarly to how black minstrel performers used to act to please racist whites. Note also that Rashad is black, and was saying that Rampage echoing those performances reflects badly on black people in general.
Chael, on the other hand, basically called a group of people of mixed racial heritage a bunch of savages.
See the difference?
No,? Well, let me say it real slowly: Rashad is calling Rampage out for acting in a racially insulting manner, while Chael is calling people racially insulting things.
You don’t have to agree with what Rashad said about Rampage, but to call it “racist” is patently ridiculous.
If you fight, you fight. If you hope, you hope.

Uncle Tom is not a racist term for the follwoing reason
If a black man calls another black an Uncle Tom it is offensive
If a person of any other race calls a black man an Uncle Tom its just fucking confusing.
Uncle Tom is a racial term but it is not a racist term, I guess most people have been trained not to be able to decipher between the two.
Try this, walk up to the next black man you see and say, “Hey Sambo, would you find it more offensive if I called you a piglet savage or an uncle Tom?” and tell me how it works out for you.
These terms are meant to insult and use something the insultee can’t change; their race. Insulting someone by using their race is…. wait for it… racist.
While don’t find using the term “piglet savage” to be pleasant, the claim was that it is a racist statement but calling someone “Sambo” is not. That is the standard being measured. You want to defend “Sambo” and “Uncle Tom” then you have to defend “piglet savages”. Referring to someone’s race as a way to insult them is being racist.
Maybe it's me
But disrespecting the Nogueira’s like that and their skills is simply insulting. I did write an article earlier on how BJJ belt promotions in MMA are a bit premature but the Nog’s are legit black belts and their pupils are legit belts. I’m sure they don’t just hand them out on the side of the road. As for Chael himself, he doesn’t exactly have a stellar record facing BJJ guys so I wouldn’t mind one bit to see Chael subbed by Andy just to see what he writes next on his twitter.

NOT A CHANCE IT HAPPENS LIKE THAT...
I will qualify this by saying I can’t stand the sort of stupid sh!t he is pulling, but that doesn’t change the reality of how the fight will go.
Sonnen’s functional (mma-centric) wrestling is good enough to take Anderson down repeatedly, even good enough to keep him down for long stretches, but not good enough to finish him. He will, however, remove the illusion of invincibility that has surrounded Silva for some time, and show how a better functional wrestler could defeat him.
The current generation of elite MT / BJJ fighters that have had so much success for the last several years will be overtaken by the elite functional wrestlers. They are already dominant at WW and HW, and you can see them coming at LHW, although there are no elite functional wrestlers on the immediate horizon at MW.
by BigDNotDallas on Jun 12, 2010 2:02 PM EDT up reply actions
There are plenty of wrestlers at 185
they’re just not that good. Matt Lindland was the best wrestler at 185 for years and didn’t even fight in the UFC. Chael Sonnen didn’t either until the WEC’s MW division folded. He wasn’t that good. Look at his record before the UFC. The other thing, the UFC’s MW division has a handful of world class jiu jitsu players, if I was a wrestler I wouldn’t want to fight there either.

Meh. This was more of a stand-up comedy routine than anything else but idc, really. And as much as I like the Nogs, Big Nog is sort of a punching bag and if I’m not mistaken is known for handing out black belts rather easily. But I just want Silva to lose. By the way, it doesn’t matter how “mad” Silva is, it’s not gonna help him from being thrown to the canvas like a child and held there for 5 rounds. Only way I see Silva winning is by triangle choke.
I’m not sure how Sonnen didn’t foresee all these comments backfiring on his political ambitions, though. It doesn’t seem he’s taking the election very seriously, or maybe he thought that the MMA sphere existed completely separate from the real world and no one would ever hear these things or care?
to who?
Who have the Nogueria brothers handed out BJJ Black Belts easily too?
I think there is this idea in mma now that if you dont use your BJJ you dont deserve your Black Belt and so now all of a sudden people are trying to say Anderson, Shogun, Machida, Aldo, and many others are not true BJJ Black Belts just because recently they’ve stayed on the feet and dominated there.

Not sure what you’re talking about you pretty much just set up a strawman argument there. I said nothing about “not using” the ground game as evidence that it doesn’t exist. Anyway, I don’t know/care really about Nog’s blackbelt, I just had a vague recollection of Nog giving an iffy black belt to someone after a relatively short period, By the way, if you are going to go by the times we have seen Silva on the ground he’s never been particularly impressive (i.e. Lutter, Henderson, Marquardt, Leites). It seems like his biggest move on the ground is to do a body triangle from the bottom, which is just him trying to stall and force a standup.
Hmmm....
I’m pretty sure he subbed Hendo (an olympic wrestler), subbed Lutter (the micheal jordan of BJJ! LOL), and avoided Leites’ weak attempts of coaxing Anderson to follow him while he flopped and butt scoot’d till the fight ended.
and I get when you say he got in a few trouble with Hendo and Lutter (even if he subbed both of them), but Leites? Really?
by Anton Tabuena on Jun 12, 2010 12:16 AM EDT up reply actions
Leites got a takedown early, SIlva showed no offense, indicating that he probably does not believe himself capable of competing with an actually high-level black belt, only stalling him out. Not that I hold that against him but talking about pure grappling all he did was try to stall. As for Lutter, an out of shape Lutter easily mounted him and easily could have finished him. He never even submitted lutter it was a submission to strikes. Hendo was basically unconscious when Silva subbed him and it could just have easily been a tko if Silva had punched him instead of taking his back.
Leites got a takedown early, SIlva showed no offense, indicating that he probably does not believe himself capable of competing with an actually high-level black belt, only stalling him out.
cause he didn’t want to stay in the only part where Leites had a remote chance of winning? Poor Silva, for having common sense not to go into unnecessary risks just to prove his black belt is “legit”.

Not that I hold that against him but talking about pure grappling all he did was try to stall
Didn’t say he should have. But he never really threatened Marq or Hendo or Leites wi from the bottom, either. What I’ve been saying is maybe Silva doesn’t have such fantastic offensive capabilities off his back which everyone gives him de facto credit for. Lord knows he’ll need ’em against Sonnen.
Since when was Chael Sonnen this unstoppable wrestling machine?
He has been submitted 8 times and the fighters he has beaten are nowhere remotely close to Anderson Silva. The only chance he has of winning is to stop him and the last time he finished someone was fricking Uscola in a Portland organization. He has little knockout power and Anderson isn’t someone you can just takedown at will.
You are overrating Chael Sonnen vastly and you have not provided one significant piece of evidence that Silva could get wrestled to death. He handled Hendo, Lutter, Maia, and Leites (granted Leites had no Plan B when the BJJ didn’t work)….all great-to-elite level wrestlers and/or BJJ practitioner.
To top it all off Sonnen has been submitted 8 times.
"It's fourth and fifteen and you're looking at a full-court press." - Lt. Frank Drebin, Police Squad
Only Hendo has a wrestling background of that list and he was able to LnP for a round, in the 2nd round he gassed and exchanged and got caught. Sonnen has great cardio and won’t try to exchange. If Anderson isn’t competetive with Sonnen in the wrestling department he is going to lose this fight, imo. We’ll see how his TD has improved since Hendo, I guess.
Make sure to smoke some weed before, otherwise you wont see Hendo gassed.

Yeah I was going to bring that lame ass arm bar attempt up.. I can’t remember Lutter even coming close to finishing Silva at all. People make a big deal out of Silva being mounted. Shit happens. What he did do was get out of the mount and elbow Lutter until he quit.

because it was a straw man argument. He tried to argue against something I wasn’t even arguing (that not showing ur ground game is evidence of not having a ground game). And I never made wanted this to be an argument, as I said I don’t really know/care about Nog’s standards for awarding blackbelts.

How about you chill out? Perhaps someone else would have more specific info to back up the claim? Or to refute it? Or perhaps something would come up about a particular fighter he awarded it to that would spark my memory?
So its someone else's responsibility...
to make the case for your outlandish claim? Someone else needs to find the evidence to support your ridiculous allegation. Someone else needs to find a fact to spark your memeory…seriously?
Here is a thought, know what you are talking about before you comment, or CHOOSE NOT TO COMMENT. Do a bit of research, you have the whole internet at your disposal.
I actually don’t care that you said something stupid, everyone does, but the fact that you can’t see it for the stupid comment that it was is just mind boggling.

the fact that you care so much is mind boggling. No one had a “responsibility,” I actually thought it was common knowledge. Regardless, it is common knowledge that different masters have greatly differing standards for awarding blackbelts, and I still think the Nogs give relatively easy blackbelts. For example, Anderson was awarded his for giving BBs trouble in practice although he hadn’t competed in BJJ tourneys, going through the gi/no gi grappling competetions. I tried googling Nogueira blackbelts to see who he has awarded them to but couldn’t find it.
So chill out. Not the end of the world…and your reaction was far more inappropriate than one off-handed comment.
It if was "common knowledge"...
then you shouldn’t have such trouble backing it up.
Again, know what you are talking about and be able to back it up before making some claim, ESPECIALLY a disparaging remark about someone.
“your reaction was far more inappropriate than one off-handed comment.” The fact that you think that claim was some “off-handed comment” says alot and you simply should stick to the less-is-more philosophy when it comes to comments.

…isn’t taught in US schools anymore, and it certainly isn’t modeled in US media. We’re too concerned about standardized test scores to be bothered with teaching the very basis of both civil debate and scientific inquiry.

Moreover, you be waiting until high school to learn one of the most essential cognitive and discursive practices to life in modern democratic society.

Why do you have to wait untill high school?

I didnt mean you but I’ve heard a lot of people lately saying how a guy like Shogun isnt a true BJJ Black Belt because he only has 1 submission victory.
If he is “known for giving out BJJ Black Belts rather easily” (your words) give me an example. Give me a name.If the Nogueria brothers are “known for giving out black belts” why are guys in their camp like Mark Muonoz or JDS only purple belts.
I just think it’s a bad argument and if you or anyone else can list examples I’ll listen but somebody like Anderson Silva I dont think is a good argument.

If he is, he is doing a terrible job of showing it.
Which would be a very smart thing to differentiate when both promoting a fight (with the tactics he is using) and running for political office at the same time.
Jesse Ventura did the same, but decades apart and well after wrestling had revealed itself to truely be theater instead of reality as it had longly contested, thus setting the stage that individuals involved (even those using their real names) are only playing characters.

FINALLY!! someone here gets it! this is exactly right. the HuffPo—a far left, completely biased, hack “journalism” outfit that never attempts to be fair—is simply trying to take down another Republican. that is as far as their interest goes. as for their allegations of “racism” and “xenophobia”, it’s just the usual leftist accusations about the right being a bunch of racist pigs. all that comes out of a leftist’s mouth sounds to me like “blah blah blah racism blah blah blah”. the left sees everything through the prism of race and therefore always tries to ascribe racist beliefs to any comments they don’t like that are made by right wingers.

I dont see the big deal with Chael's comments.
Well after seeing how the Nogueira’s treated Jason Brilz after his gutsy performance, I don’t care if the “punching bag” or the other one ever wins again. I’m surprised that no one commented on the lack of sportsmanship or respect Lil Nog showed Brilz at the end of their fight. Nog was on top as the 3rd round ended and after the buzzer sounded Brilz extended his hand to be helped up and Minatauru ignored his gesture. Brilz then walked over to Nogueira’s corner to shake hands only to be given a cold shoulder by both brothers. Maybe I’m blowing this out of proportion, but maybe everyone who has posted on Chaels comments being negative or “crossing the line,” are blowing things out of proportion. Sonnen is allowed to have an opinion after all and I for one have enjoyed every bit of it.

If he gives a damn he will end Sonnen’s night by either sub or KO.

By Monday morning Chael Sonnen will be pissing out of his neck.

Wonder if hes getting under anderson's skin
with all these comments? People talk of koscheck as a heel, Chael Sonnen is taking it to a new level
lol, Sonnen crossed the line?
I’ve seen worse in 3 of the last 5 BE blog mainpage postings.

Dana has to be liking this, he knows that Anderson is going to try and knock Chael’s head off his shoulders, I can guarantee you Anderson won’t be dancing around with all the crap Chael has been talking.
You're assuming we understand Anderson's reasoning...
I’m not sure we do.
Maia supposedly insulted him in some way and you see what we got.
Perhaps in Anderson’s world an opponent he doesn’t like or feels insulted by gets clowned for 5 rounds while an opponent he respects gets a respectable effort to finish the fight…who knows. I have been slowly coming to realize that perhaps there is more cultural static between Brazilian and American than we know, or it could just be Anderson.

Yea, the whole "Anderson being horribly offended that Maia said that he would submit him" was such a load of garbage
87% of all pre-fight talk has one fighter claiming he will knockout or submit the other guy.
Anderson probably is mad at Wanderlei or something.

For Anderson / Franklin II
Franklin got what he wanted, which was to have the bout in Cincinnati. However, Anderson said before the bout that he would have preferred that they had not had to fight there. Normally, I could see where a fighter would not want to fight where his opponent would have a hometown advantage…however, based on the look on Anderson’s face after applying another beat down on Franklin I got the sincere impression that he did not want to have to do that to someone he respected in front of their hometown crowd.
Maybe it’s just me.

Atleast when Sonnen gets his ass handed to him he may have a future in comedy.
Maybe Rogan needs a partner on his “comedy tours” selling out at small venues.
Thank Uncle Dana for handing you your death warrant.

Given their respective politics
I can’t see Rogan and Sonnen being roomies or anything.
When you watch the Orioles every night, a beer after dinner turns into a six pack WAY too many times. Stacey
Wow, where to begin.
Does Chael think they speak Spanish in Brazil? The comment about bowing and getting knocked over the head and your wallet stolen in Brazil is right on. Hella funny. The knife in the back comment was really weird. Also bashing the Nog brothers and Muay Thai? I don’ t know about that. Chael sure has found a voice for himself lol.
You know I don’t really care what dumb ass things the guy says to promote the fight but for goodness sake the whole “it isn’t my twitter account” bit is just plain pathetic. Lets see, a lack ofintegrity and the strength of character to take responsibility for his own statements, guess he really is a politician at heart.
lol I’m sorry but I find him hilarious and hope he stirs Anderson’s shit right up. (Dont make that an image in your mind)
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
This is theatre
It’s just trashtalking guys. Even if he did it, I imagine he wants Anderson to come out guns blazing… rather than prance around like in the Maia fight. It’s freaking theatre, nothing more.
- Create hype by saying ‘wrong’ things
- Play mindgames with your opponent
- Cash paycheck
I think you all need to stop freaking worrying about this sort of shit. Plus, let’s stop pretending half of the earth’s population doesn’t make racially sensitive comments at times. Let’s stop pretending we live in a chocolate coated world of sugar. Shit is going to be said, wether one means it or not.
I personally dislike all the bad mouthing that goes on pre fight between fighters. Unnecessary, Now Machida and Shogun are perfect examples of two amazing athletes / fighters (and not sh**t talking comedians) having complete respect for the each other… Hype Hype Hype… Chael got the fight with Silva, no more sh**t talking, just be ready fight night. The comments about the Nog bro’s were TOTALY UN CALLED FOR! But you know what… thats all Chael has at this point, jokes and trash talking. I bought my tickets to this event and i am driving over 600 miles to see it and if Chael’s mission was to hype the fight well not only was successful doing so but he also lost my support.
Anderson Silva via KO!

Chael obviously went to the Kid Nate School of Trolling
by The Omaplatapus on Jun 12, 2010 5:40 AM EDT reply actions
TBH Kid Nate's got nothing.

Silky Johnson is not impressed by Kid Nate’s hating performance. To be fair, I don’t think Nate is really trying.
If you fight, you fight. If you hope, you hope.
Sonnen is an idiot.. I’m mostly trying to just ignore the guy, I don’t find him funny and I see no reason to give him exposure for his trolling (the “MMA media” sadly does though). I think it’s all just very silly and childish, it does not make me more interested in the fight at all. If anything, I wish the guy would’ve never gotten the title shot. I’m glad he got called out on his racist BS by someone outside of MMA media, very weak of Sonnen to try and deny his Twitter account at this point (it’s quite obviously his).
Don’t have any problem with and of his comments. His line about not having a twitter account was just an attempt to set up to following joke. You could see the smirk on his face when he said it. Not a big deal. As far as disprespecting the Nogueiras, all he is doing is trying to get this fight to his world… the ground. Honestly, really not a big deal at all. This was really not worth an article… could have posted just the interviews!

At least Sonnen manages to keep people interested in Anderson's next fight.
Cause Silva needs the attention after he last laid a big fat poo in the ring against Maia. The greatest shit talker taking on the greatest fighter. It’ll be a beatdown of epic proportions. And in the end, everyone will chear Silva for shutting Sonnen up. Probably the best thing for Silva at this point in his career.
I'd laugh for hours
if Sonnen lays and prays Silva.
It would be one of those Eric Cartman laughs that just never end.
I give Sonnen about a 20% chance of winning and an 80% chance of getting KTFO.
Would enjoy both Silva losing or Silva putting on another classic performance like he did against Forrest.
I wouldn't give him 20%.
Maybe 3-5%. We will see how much desire Anderson has left in the tank. If we see a round 1 TKO, we know whats up.
The way that was pieced together I felt like I was watching a stand up comedian but he wasn't all that funny.
Sonnen is doing a lot of talking! I’m surprised Anderson hasn’t said a word about him. Sonnen is trying to get into Anderson’s head and I’m not too sure if it’s working.
Shut up, Tito.

Ah, the old "Love it or Leave it!" crowd
So, does that mean I can tell people who say “Obama shouldn’t even be president!” to leave?

No

How things change after an election
because for 8 years, when I didn’t like the president, that’s certainly the sentiment I was treated to.

Really?
Ask John Stewart how it worked out for him…
I’m not saying that I’m not a fan of the daily show but lets face it Bush made Stewart a ton of money.
Without Bush the Daily show would have been about 2 mins. a night. Cash Cow, that’s what Bush was to Jon Stewart.

And Obama is to Fox News.
Lets not pretend that Right or Left doesn’t have some sort of profit opportunity when they get their turn as the “Opposition” party. Its all the same with the same parties taking turns playing different parts every 4 to 8 years.
