Gina Carano's film is now titled, "Haywire" and has been set for a January 2011 release:
The film centers on a black ops soldier (Carano) who seeks revenge after she is betrayed and set up during a mission.
Steven Soderbergh's spy thriller supporting cast includes Ewan McGregor, Michael Douglas, Michael Fassbender, Channing Tatum, Antonio Banderas, Bill Paxton, Michael Angarano and Mathieu Kassovitz.

I seriously have my doubts.
It’s not this directors MO, he has a taste for actual actors. Second, I doubt that talented of a cast would sign up for a film where they play 2nd fiddle to an MMA fighter in her acting premier. Part of the cast but not lead role.
The guy goes off to produce one small independent film and you think that’s the norm and not the exception. Doesn’t every director take that foray once in their career?
Sounds like money is actually behind this movie, I bet he goes to his formula.
If you believe this is a small budget film scheduled for Amazon Video on Demand release than Gina Carano is your lead actress.

I’ve never seen a film center around someone that wasn’t the lead…. (and I’m a huge movie nerd, been following this for months, she is definitely the lead)
The should have called it Generic Action Movie. Sounds like one of those movies that will be on DVD a couple months after it flops in theaters.

A lot of those movies weren’t directed by soderbergh (dangerous mind and good night good luck were by clooney, insomnia by Nolan, Darkly by Linklater), but yeah the last thing anyone who knows anything would say about his films is that they’re generic. It was a stupid knee jerk reply by a stupid poster.

It should be mentioned that Soderburgh did Bubble,
a film with an entirely unknown cast. In fact, none of the actors used had any acting experience.
The amount of nudity will determine whether I watch this or not

I can’t wait to see the trailer. At first I was worried that she wouldn’t be able to pull it off but word on the street is that the movie was awesome and Gina was badass.
This plot has been done over and over
But I’ll go see it just to see Carano do what she does best, which is look good and kick butt. She will bring the MMA fans to the movie; the “Supporting Cast” will bring everyone else, and add some credibility and acting chops to the movie. Carano probably won’t have many lines here. I think she’ll do well with the stunts and the action stuff, but I don’t think Gina Carano will be replacing Angelina Jolie as Hollywoods go to girl for spy/action thrillers in the near future.
