No Nick Ring? Probably would have been one of the finalists if not for the injury. Maybe that’s still bothering him?

Other then that this card is pretty much… bad.

Was about to post the same thing

Uscola/Noke/Ring were the favorites going in.

Kind of suprised that so many people want to see Uscola. In addition to his very mediocre record before the show, he didnt even win a single fight on the show.

I think they would be stupid not to sign Noke though. Hes a quality guy that they could have signed outright without putting him on the show.

by Rabbit915 on Jun 10, 2010 8:33 AM EDT up reply actions

Agreed, EXCEPT...

I want to see him vs Yager!!!

I think we will see Noke at some point.

by BJJDenver on Jun 10, 2010 10:38 AM EDT up reply actions

I think they should just tape Yager to a bed, let everyone beat him with socks full of quarters, and just get it all over with.

amen! Including all of us who endured him this season and the chosyn one twitter account as well!

I’d rather see uscola and noke over hammortree or baczynski

Forgot to mention the chosyn one

he doesn’t deserve his spot after quitting in his last fight, but since all his drama his automatically in

If they were gonna put Yager in I would’ve really preferred them to match him up with one of the guys he had a serious beef with, to me that would justify having him on the card despite giving up on his stool.

Yea I would have rather ...

… seen him fight Uscola . They’ve had beef all season long . And props to Brad Tavares for not giving up . Hell that man had every right to tap but he didn’t and all Yager had to do was get up off a stool ….. sad . Beat Yeagers ass Richie !

not taping when you are getting choked is silly

Convulsing on national tv. Serves no purpose. IMHO tapping when you’re caught shows respect.

"When i get in there, in his face ,pressin the action,I'm RUFF NECKIN'EM,I'm throwin him around,I'm punchin him,hes punchin me, I'm eatin his shots and I'm Blastin him back in the face he's not goin to be able to handle it ." - Chris Leben on how his fight with Anderson Silva is gonna go.

I just think it shows ...

… heart by not tapping and it displays the never give up attuide . I can see your respect angle though .

He was out REALLY quick, though, dude.

I don’t even know if he had a chance to think about tapping. That choke was in and he was out almost right after.

by Jonathan. on Jun 10, 2010 7:42 AM EDT up reply actions

In competition

I do not tap to chokes. Joint locks absolutely, but a choke? in the gym I’m the first to tap, but this isn’t the gym. Either put me to sleep or get ready for when I stand back up. Every fighter I train with would have done the same thing.

by JaeeJaee on Jun 10, 2010 9:49 AM EDT up reply actions

I am

the same exact way. In the gym, I’ll tap to a choke all day. But NOT in competition. Keep fighting until you go out

by esquilinho on Jun 10, 2010 10:07 AM EDT up reply actions

Unless it’s a locked rear naked, then you are screwed. Otherwise, get past the fear and fight your way out of it.

On another note, I’ll confirm that a lot of chokes are just too quick to tap out to. Some guys just go out before they even know they are in trouble. I’ve seen guys tap out AFTER passing out, like a muscle reflex—then they are snoring and gurgling.

by judonerd on Jun 10, 2010 10:18 AM EDT up reply actions

I've done that one

last thing I remembered was moving my had to tap (we were drilling the RNC and I had a pretty green partners who couldn’t lock it in, then magically got it and got it tight). I woke up and I could tell that I had never made it to tapping from the look on everyones face. lol. It happens.

by JaeeJaee on Jun 10, 2010 10:29 AM EDT up reply actions

Thankfully, I’ve never gone out. YET. But the first time I got someone with a choke (in guard, overhooked their arm, then reached under for the collar), I was a white belt and it was a purple belt. I slapped on the other hand really quick and I think they went “hey, this isn’t supposed to happen ohshitbettertapsnoregurgle”. Then he just went out on my chest. It was super creepy.

by judonerd on Jun 10, 2010 11:09 AM EDT up reply actions

I too ...

…. will not tap in competition to any type of choke , but in the gym yea I’ll tap theres nothing at stake there . Now joint locks are a different story . I’ve fubared me knee , ankle and shoulder ( in different sports ) so going through rehab again ain’t on my to do list anytime soon . Luckily I’ve never been in a tapping situation , in competition anyway .

Not true.

You never know when a guy is going to adjust or something, maybe even give up on the choke. And the time from when you think you aree ok, to when you are out, is very, very small.

by BJJDenver on Jun 10, 2010 10:40 AM EDT up reply actions

Yup. The best blood chokes are super quick and even let you still keep breathing sometimes. Just hits the artery just right.

well, lets be honest…Woodbridge is a hell hole but the rest of northern VA is great. saw him fight at the UWC events in fairfax and im sized that Va is being represented again. Can we actually have two Virginia Ultimate Fighters? First Amir Sadollah and now Kris McCray? we will put VA on the map!

Don’t see anything weak about this card at all, Jardine vs. Hammill should be action packed so will Siver vs. Fisher plus we’ll see how the TUF guys have improved since the show ended. Not much more you can ask for in a TUF finale considering how many shows the UFC has coming up i’m pretty happy with what we’re getting here.

I’m disappointed Noke isn’t on the card, and surprised Yager got another chance to fight after his last effort.

by brad23 on Jun 10, 2010 1:51 AM EDT reply actions

I was under the impression that Dana is not a fan of having someone like Yager, who quit on the stool in the middle of an MMA bout during TUF, being invited to fight in the UFC. Someone like Brian Bowles had an injury, BJ Penn’s corner threw in the towel, and while Yager claimed he was “rocked,” I have seen UFC fighters like when Jason MacDonald quit on the stool against Rich Franklin who was seriously “rocked” and believably could not continue. Yager just looked like he quit even though he looked like he could continue, and his personality and behavior on TUF reinforced that he is not that strong mentally.

by chrisbboy82 on Jun 10, 2010 3:38 AM EDT up reply actions

There’s still most likely two more fights to be added. UFC cards typically have 11 fights on them these days so there should be a fifth main card fight and another prelim fight. My guess is Ring (due to injury) and Blanchard (got steamrolled in the first round) won’t fight and we’ll get two fights out of Noke, Bryant, McKinney and Uscola.

by rabrown on Jun 10, 2010 1:57 AM EDT reply actions

not 5…PPVs have 5 main card fights.

We might see another prelim added though.

I am going with Jardine to win the main event. I see potential in Brad Tavares, so I am glad that he is getting a fight at the Finale. I have to wonder how many TUF 11 castoffs that the UFC will keep besides the winners of the their respective fights? I guess that the UFC needs Middleweights.

by chrisbboy82 on Jun 10, 2010 2:48 AM EDT reply actions

No they just need ...

If it even happens, by the time that any of these TUF 11 fighters get into Title contention (like I said, if it even happens), then Anderson will be in his late 30’s and could potentially be retired.

Silva

will be moving up to Light Heavyweight after the Sonnen fight, if he wins, at least Dana says it’s a possibility. Maybe Vitor gets the shot that they wanted to give him and then he goes up after that. 2 Middleweight fights left and nothing more.

came from a sketchy site suggesting that Yager fight Uscola because of their beef, but then they titled the post "Yager vs. Uscola at TUF 11 Finale" as if it were actually happening. Several other sites just read the title and ran with it.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.

Court McGee (8-1) vs. Kris McCray (5-0)

It’s gotta be the first time ever that both fighteres in the finale lost during the season…

I don’t know what I think of this fight. Even after yesterdays fights, I still think Tavares and McGee were the 2 best fighters…

by truck on Jun 10, 2010 9:23 AM EDT reply actions

I hate to be that guy

But IMO they dropped the ball on this card. Tavares should be on the Main card, opening bout. Noke not fighting, Nick Ring not on (perhaps due to injury) Josh Bryant absent. Yager fighting Rich Attonito (the only dude to not confront him “I’m not in this gimme my shoes back” Should be Yager vs. Hammertree since Uscala got his junk mauled. They had legit beef, and Tree didn’t bend.

i agree about tavares, he should be on main card. other than mcgee, tavares is probably the most promising guy on the show…especially since he is only like 22. the kid has skills, a ton of heart and his head seems to be in the right place.

I’d like to see Ring fight again… never really say him fight at 100% Think he’s retiring due to knee injuries? I’m also pretty annoyed to see Yager on this card not fighting Hammortree Uscola or even Ring…

Anyone know how long Uscola will be out?
