2 Years Late
Why FEG wouldn’t do this fight in 2008 I’ll never know.
We finally get the fight we’ve all been waiting for, but now the DREAM promotion has lost its allure. DREAM is now the 4th best promotion in the world behind the UFC, WEC, Strikeforce, (and arguably Bellator).
Arguably Bellator?
Their best fighter was beaten by Aoki.
DREAM has the deeper Roster.
DREAM has the more skilled fighters.
Bellator is still far away from the big 3.
How many tickets are they selling?
What kind of TV ratings do they pull exactly?
What’s their FSN contract worth?
There’s nothing to indicate that Bellator is a better promotion.

Numbers coming out from the Massachusetts Athletic Commission after their Boston show pegged the audience at just over 1,000 paid. Their debut in Kansas City hit somewhere in the 2000-2500 range. While there are other revenue streams like the UB and Everlast sponsorships and International TV packages, the low gates are a troubling sign for the traction that Bellator are looking to get on its path towards financial viability.
At least they no longer have to pay Huerta a ridiculous amount of money.

I really don’t think Dream or any other org in Japan cares where us fans in North america rank them. This fight is actually perfect.in timing. They need eyeballs sence MMA in Japan is not all that popular right now and this fight should do just that ? Its not theB iggest fight they could make that will have say mothers and grandparents watching like old school pride and Dynamite cards but it should be a pretty BIG fight for FEG to thorw.
Not sure how you put the WEC above dream either. WEC has very few divisions and they aren’t very deep in those that they do have. Sure the WEC can pull in good money when it pretends it is the UFC but other than that I am not sure how you put the WEC above Dream.
Id say
Dream and Strikeforce are pretty much Tied for #2 due to the fighters they share. Sengoku can be after the WEC

No TBA jokes yet? WHAT IS THIS PLACE COMING TO?
"Ten more seconds is all I ever ask. That's the good thing I learned about being KO'd twice. You don't see it coming -it's like death- you don't plan for it so don't wait for it. So many people are afraid of getting Ko'd that their hands stay home, but not me. I got to go out there and shoot the lights out and fall down" Jens Pulver
WAR CRUSHER.
Tough first fight back for Aoki. I have to give props to DREAM on this matchup; I fully expected Aoki to fight a can during this event.
"Referees, be sure to step in and stop the fight on time tomorrow, because I might get carried away in the moment and my many punches may end up destroying my opponent." - Tatsuya "CRUSHER" Kawajiri
Yup
and to think TBA fights 4 times in 1 night!

I really dout it and I totaly expect a can for the killing but I would love to see Dream line up eather Tim Syvlia,Sergei Kharitonov, or even a Jeff Monson would do.
I forgot all about those shows running downunder on what it is 4 back to back weekends or 4 shows in 6 weeks something like that. I am still skeptical though we will see all those names or that org will even run those shows ? I really do hope though those shows come threw becasue what a nice little org for fighters outside the UFC or trying to work there way back. Another MMA show who will pay top fighters and put together good fights is always a good thing for the fighters and us fans.
As for a opponent for Overeem even Arlovski would be nice, Its a win/win for him. I woukd not mind seeing him or BIG Tim fight Overeem that night. I really hope FEG finds a half way decent HW but like I said above I really dout that.
Tim is injured. He broke his big toe kicking Pudz. He had to pull out of a fight with Rizzo because of it.

Overeem-Kharitonov III would be nice
But I think Ubereem would take that fight because Kharitonov has looked out of shape his last few fights.
I didn't think he looked that bad.
But he was out of his league in the K1 fight and Ubereem is a different beast than the Overeem he fought in the other fights. Ubereem would snack on him.

Finally, but this isn’t as big as it could have been a year or two ago. Aoki has lost a lot of his mystique thanks to Gilbert Melendez, and the glaring holes in his game were made painfully obvious. Crusher could get caught while trying to ground and pound, but I think he takes this fairly easily if he fights smart and doesn’t get too aggressive on the ground.
Lemonade was a popular drink, and it still is. I get more stunts and props than Bruce Willis- Guru
With that being said Aoki could Redeem his Mistique with a win over Crusher.

I think Melendez/Aoki already gave Kawajiri the blueprint to win this one. I think a Kawajiri win will get people on board for a Melendez/Kawajiri rematch.
But it is in japan, and Aoki can Butscoott :D
