fun card here
neers a tough fighter and if he keeps it standing things could get interesting vs alvarez whos standup game ive been particularly critical about, however alvarez’ wrestlings too good he’ll frustrate neer the entire fight the same way we saw pellegrino beat him, alvarez by decision
really wanna see huerta vs alvarez though an extremely interesting fight there
Damn lol
Ok that was a quick fix lol

I'm interested to see
if the struggles Huerta had with Guida and Maynard carry over into this fight with Pat.
Not to mentioned
seemingly getting muscled around by a very strong Hinton early on.
(sorry for the double post)
Best Bellator card yet this season.

There have been a few good ones already...
This one is the ebst on paper, but it seems like most Bellator fight end up being solid.
I think that it helps, as far as entertaining fights go, that these fighters are mainly prospects because I get the impression that they fight a lot less conservatively since they are so new to MMA, which makes for more exciting fights. However, these fighters look to me like a step up from fighters on TUF, so they have some pretty good skill AND fight less conservatively.
Matchmaking is part of it too...
They are usually pretty good with the matchmaking, altghough I believe the next round of the MW tourney might be a little dull.
i hope so
there is some good talk going around about Konrad…
I'm looking for the chicken and the rice. Please for you give me the chicken then you come with the rice or then you give me the rice and the chicken, I don't care.
I've been watchin his wrastlin
and he was very talented in the NCAA, His MMA matches show he has great strength and Cardio, but his technique leaves something to be desired…
I know nothing about Pat Bennett ...
… but I already feel sorry for him.
Konrad is a monster.
Konrad=BabyBrock?
I'm looking for the chicken and the rice. Please for you give me the chicken then you come with the rice or then you give me the rice and the chicken, I don't care.
Goddamn "Non-Title" Fights!

should be a title fight, but i guess it would demean the tournament if neer just got a title shot w/out having a win in Bellator
Yeah, I think that is the only reason...
I am surprised Neer isn’t a bigger underdog. I guess the Aoki loss really did a number on MMA outside of the UFC… I like Neer, but he wouldn’t be that close against almost anyone at the top of the UFC’s LW division.
It is at a catchweight to prevent the title holder from suffering a loss in his weight class...
It is a double safe incase of a loss. there is no other reason for a catchweight. Neer even said there was no good reason for a catchweight.
Yes
It is. I wasn’t really implying anythin with my statement, only the stated reason for the belt not being on the line.

Wow Neer’s at +190. Either Alvarez sucks or, in the brief moment when I turned away from the TV during his past couple fights, Neer must have done something other than look horrible.
I don't think Neer has made a habit of looking horrible...
He does have wins over Joe Stevenson, Melvin Guillard and Din Thomas and has always be game. This fight should be a fun standup battle…
As for the odds:
It looks to me like Alvarez was seriously downgraded due to Aoki’s loss to Melendez… If Neer pulls this off, expect pretty much every non UFC fighter to take a hit.
I think
Alvarez might have been downgraded a bit too because the fight’s at 160, which gives Neer a bit of a size advantage, and let’s face it…Alvarez didn’t look like a top 5 LW in the last Bellator tourney, or against Kikuno.

if alvarez keeps this standing i think hes in trouble
his standup while explosive has massive holes and neer could pop him and end this fight rather quickly
his best strategy would be to just take neer down control him and work ground and pound, neers takedown defense is pretty bad and alvarez will win this by decision
I agree with your analysis...
I don’t know that Alvarez will shoot right away though. He fights a very risky style…
Neer’s takedown and sub defense have been pretty bad, but they seem to have improved over recent years. Neither Diaz or Batman could submit him and a massive Tibau presents problems that Alvarez does not. I don’t think the takedowns will come super easy. This will be a really tough fight for Alvarez.
On another note, it is very possible we see Neer ranked in the top 10 if he wins…
I think that might be a little nutso, but some people will do it.
When has Neer ever demonstrated anything approaching a decent stand up game or power? From what I’ve seen of Neer it seems like: he’s generally good at maintaining guard but he’s unlikely to sub anyone with decent BJJ (or who could be characterized as a wrestler, and Eddie has decent wrestling); he has below average take down defense; his cardio seems below average compared with other LW “UFC” caliber fighters; his stand up cannot fairly be characterized as “precise”, “technically sound” or “dangerous”; and I believe he’s been experiencing some sort of domestic strife and recently left Militech’s camp. While I’m somewhat skeptical of Alvarez’s current ranking and wonder just how well he’d fare against the elite in the UFC’s LW division, in the few fights I’ve seen, Alvarez’s shown enough wrestling, striking, heart, conditioning and submission savvy to demonstrate he’s out of Neer’s league and the current line doesn’t reflect that.
You’re vastly underestimating Neer, if he shows up on his game he can beat Alvarez it just depens what frame of mind he’s in. I’ve never seen a guy be so hot and cold from fight to fight it doesn’t matter the opponent one fight he’ll look great the other he’ll look horrible which is the only reason i’m calling this fight 50/50 right now.
