UFC 114 Results: Cyrille Diabate Finishes Luis Cane
The UFC chose to show a taped slug fest between Luis Arthur Cane and UFC debutante newcomer Cyrille Diabate on the preliminary card free broadcast on Spike TV.
MMA Weekly reported:
Frenchman Cyrille Diabate nearly saw his UFC dreams go up in smoke when Brazilian fighter Luis Cane dropped him to the mat less than a minute into the fight. He battled back, however, and a minute later unloaded on Cane, dropping him to the mat with a left-right combination and finishing him off with strikes.

We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
Told y'all
If Cane doesn’t get his defense together he’s never going to be a contender.
Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam.

Nice win for Diabate and an exciting fight. He showed good heart and decent ground game to get out of some trouble early.
But like milk72 says above, his hand position is scandalously casual for someone with striking as heralded as his. I know not everyone goes for the rolled shoulders/tucked chin of a conventional boxing stance, but hands wide and below your shoulders with your head straight up and your chin straight out is just asking to get cracked.
He still probably knows more than I ever will about good kickboxing, but I can’t see any advantage to what he was doing there.
I consider myself a softcore fan.
