Bellator XX - Live Results and Commentary
As with every major show, BloodyElbow.com will be here to bring you live results and commentary for Bellator XX. The live blog will start with the beginning of the FSN broadcast (at 8PM ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.
As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.
So again, join us for the show and share your thoughts as the event unfolds.
A note: Results are below the fold. Please be aware that while I'll not spoil the live results on the front page, we will not be waiting to talk about the results on the front page. There will likely be multiple articles on the night's action up by tomorrow.
The event is live. First fight up shortly.
Eddie Sanchez vs. Marcus Sursa - Round 1 - Leg kick by Sursa and he tries for a takedown. Sanchez was on top for a second but went for an armbar and now is on bottom with Sursa in his guard. Sanchez scoots back to the cage and uses it to stand up. Sanchez with a flurry of punches and a right hand gets through. Takedown from Sursa and Eddie stands right back up. Sanchez leaning on him against the cage then separates and lands a flurry of punches. Sursa again with the takedown and he ends up on top in mount. Sanchez manages to get to the feet using the cage and now he's the one that gets the takedown. Sanchez landing punches now and avoids a triangle choke to get to side control. Nice punches and elbows from Sanchez finish out the round. 10-9 Sanchez on my card. Round 2 - Right hand from Sursa and Sanchez goes down. Sursa pounces and he's landing bombs. Sanchez working to get some control but he's eating shots. Sursa keeps firing and Sanchez is hurting. Sursa goes for a guillotine and Sanchez uses it to end up on top. Eddie is landing punches now and just trying to recover. Sursa briefly gives his back and Eddie passes to half guard as he turns. Sanchez landing elbows and punches now. He's into full mount, Sursa gives up his back. Back to full mount. Sursa looks to have punched himself out. Sanchez is trying to pour it on and the round comes to a close. What a solid round. Could go either way but I'd actually go 10-9 Sanchez which is incredible when he was so close to getting finished early. Round 3 - Sanchez comes out landing a body shot, getting a takedown into mount and pounding him out. Wow, really fun fight. Eddie Sanchez wins by TKO (punches), round 3.
Alexander Shlemenko vs. Jared Hess - Round 1 - Hess looks much bigger here. Shlemenko is hesitant here with the desire to not get put on his back. Knee from Shlemenko as Hess shoots in and Hess gets the quick, easy takedown into side control. Hess takes his back in a scramble. Brief opportunity for a twister for Hess but instead he's back to regular back control. Shlemenko tries to stand up but can't as Hess has control of his body. Rear naked choke attempt and Shlemenko escapes. Shlemenko back to his feet but Hess still has his body locked up. Hess finally gets the takedown again and again takes the back. Shlemenko manages to get up and just misses a big knee. Spinning back fist from Shlemenko and Hess takes him right back down. 10-9 round for Hess. Round 2 - Hess with a quick takedown and Shlemenko goes for the guillotine but can't finish the submission and now Hess is in his guard. Hess working ground and pound while Shlemenko keeps trying to catch a triangle. Deep triangle is locked in by Shlemenko, now trying to switch to an armbar and Hess escapes. Now Shlemenko with a leg lock and again Hess escapes. Hess back on top in the guard and Shlemenko deserves credit for trying to be active off his back. 10-9 Hess. Round 3 - Right away Hess gets another takedown avoiding the knee that Shlemenko tries to throw. Shlemenko manages to stand up. KNEE FROM SHLEMENKO AND HESS IS OUT! Wait, they aren't stopping it, the fight is still going and now Shlemenko is on top in the guard of Hess. Shlemenko stands back up and Hess can't get back to his feet, he's wobbly and can't stand up correctly. Hess's knee is badly dislocated. The fight is over. Alexander Shlemenko wins by TKO (injury), round 3.
Bryan Baker vs. Eric Schambari - Round 1 - Baker circling away from the power of Schambari. Baker with a nice uppercut. They exchange punches and Schambari drives through a takedown. Baker locks up a triangle right away. Schambari trying to defend, it's a long time before finally Schambari is forced to tap out. Wow, that was quick. Bryan Baker wins by submission (triangle choke), round 1.
Nik Mamalis vs. Mark Oshiro - Round 1 - Oshiro stalking, lands a leg kick and a few punches. Mamalis looking for a takedown and he gets it. Oshiro working rubber guard and now a high guard trying to catch an arm. Mamalis doing a good job of posturing up. Mamalis landing some punches now. More solid punches from the top by Mamalis. Rubber guard by Oshiro and he gets slammed. 10-9 round for Mamalis. Round 2- Takedown by Mamalis, he's into mount and then takes the back of Oshiro. Choke sunk in and Oshiro has to tap out. That's a huge upset! Nick Mamalis wins by submission (rear naked choke), round 2.

Well thanks to Comcast once again i’ll be missing out on Bellator and not for anything important no for Lacrosse yeah seriously? Lacrosse.
God hate you Comcast.
I live in Canada and we don't get it till Friday nights.
Even then it has been pushed bach further to make room for WWE shows. Watching it super late is annoying, but at least it is aired in its entirety a few times a week.
no doubt, this is one of those shows that doesn’t bother me to not see live. I’ll prolly check the results than decide whether I want to watch it or not.

I’m scared to even get into Career Mode as I think it’ll burn me out on the game entirely. UFC 2009’s career mode was a total slog and from what I hear 2010’s isn’t any better.

Eddie Sanchez actually has a resume that would have predicted solid success in the UFC when you look at record pre-UFC, finish rate, finish time, opponent records…etc.
Turns out he isn’t a top level fighter but he’s still pretty good for the non-UFC level.

pretty respectable. It was losing to Justin McCully that really did him in.

Shlemenko landed a huge knee and Hess looked like he went out, as he fell he dislocated his knee BADLY. I fear for either guy against Lombard. But Baker should take this fairly easy.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

Overall a really great show every week.
Great fights and great production!

Nice. Won money on both Sanchez and Baker tonight so far.
Was going to put money on Schlemenko, but figured he was a lock to lose.
OOPS.
Interim Championship?
they were saying that fight was to get to the championship. Hope it is so we can get 5 rounds
Keep on Coker, Bjorn! Alvarez/Melendez is the best non-UFC fight out there right now. Make the deal!

I see Alvarez getting the W but. It would be close.

Your style's like garbage cans meant to be taken out on a weekly basis
Ever since your first record you've been in a state of suspended animation
You look like Snuffleuffagus and Australopithecus

Used my money from tonight to throw more on Dong Hyun Kim.
Have about $30 on him so far. Maybe I should put even more down on him.
Mamalis looks pretty decent.

Loved the crackhead control. Still lost the round.

and I bet joe rogan is pissed he isnt announcing, he loves pointing out the different steps of rubber guard. no one in the UFC really displays it all. and jimmy smith couldnt care less.

I know we've moved on
but does anyone else think that the leg lock Shlemenko attempted earlier in the fight may have weakened Hess’ knee? On the replay, Hess didn’t look that stable on his leg before he went down from the punch. Maybe his leg was already messed up.

never seen this before, but I’d rather this than nothing for the final 12 minutes of the show.
