Kimbo Slice Will Not Be Fighting Minowaman in DREAM.14

Could this be the next face of MMA in Japan?

MMA Fighting reports on the latest DREAM press conference:

DREAM Event Producer Keiichi Sasaharaand FEG President Sadaharu Tanikawatoday announced the half of the last fight for May 29th's DREAM.14 and also revealed that on July 10 we will see DREAM.15 at the Saitama Super Arena where "Fated Rivals" will clash and the opening round of a four man light heavyweight tournament will get under way.

Ikuhisa "Minowaman" Minowa is return to the cage at DREAM.14 against a yet to be named opponent who has been dubbed "X". When quizzed as to whether "X" was Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson, Tanikawa commented that while Kimbo is the perfect oppenent for the "Super Hulk" champion, it is impossible for DREAM.14.

Head Kick Legend has more on the press conference.

Japan is calling out to Kimbo. It's the perfect place for him to score a few more big pay days in MMA if that's what he wants to do. And considering the history of African-American fighters becoming mega-stars in Japan -- see Sapp, Bob -- Kimbo might be just the ticket to kick start an MMA revival in Japan. Here's hoping.

Kimbo could be good for Japan but if he faces any of the k1 strikers there just gonna chop his legs and get the KO. If his legs were good I would say k1 would be the place for him.

He can’t face grapplers either because they would humilliate him on the ground.

Boxing would be the best for him

He has a bad chin, he's slow and has bad footwork...

boxing is an awful route for him.

He also is not a technically sound striker and lacks big KO power, but you know what, I still want to see him fight in Dream.

How did I end up on this bandwagon and why does everything say property of Chael Sonnen?

by Day Man on May 20, 2010 5:30 PM EDT up reply actions

really?

i’d be happy never to see him fight again

It’s not hating to be opposed to seeing someone who can’t fight professionally, fighting professionally. please see the above posts about all the things that Kimbo can’t do. I don’t see one about what he can do. Next step…Kimbo’s Steakhouse.

What’s wrong with barbeque’s? He whipped everyone’s ass there. I think I liked him the most on that stage.

Did you see the size of that chicken?

by Heenan on May 20, 2010 6:42 PM EDT up reply actions

Honestly, I think one of the best fits for Kimbo would to go into professional wrestling, but even that is very hard to do.

But Franklen McNeal said he’d do well as a heavyweight boxer…………

He really isn’t that great of a fighter.

There is good freakshow fight in Dream. Sapp, Jan the Giant, Jose canseco, and if he gets by them give him Hong Man Choi.

Who cares

Who cares if Kimbo can fight. I like the guy and hope he makes his bread in Japan….. WAR KIMBO

by Red Dragons on May 20, 2010 9:26 PM EDT reply actions

Kimbo would be huge in Japan if he could find ppl to win.....

Given the way the match ppl up over there I’m sure that wouldn’t be a problem. Do it big Kimbo. Give Bob Sapp a call, he’ll give you the manual on how to do it big.

by JimJoe on May 20, 2010 9:30 PM EDT reply actions

I'm sure Dream can find some people for Kimbo to beat

If EliteXC did it, Dream can.
