Vitor "Shaolin" Ribeiro to appeal the loss to Lyle Beerbohm:
André Pederneiras, Nova União’s leader and the manager Alex Davis will file a lawsuit along with the Athletic Commission, asking them to change the result. "They can’t do that, is absurd, it’s not right. Even if I have to ask the help of a lawyer, I will change this outcome", says André.
Despite being a hard mission to accomplish, Pederneiras hopes make the result a No Contest, at least. And he has done that before when he cancelled the loss of Róbson Moura against Mamoru Yamaguchi in 2004.

They are spinning their wheels.
There is no chance whatsoever that the result gets changed. The only times I can think of where commissions overturned a result is when there was malfeasance involved (Hoffman’s steroids, Diaz’s weed) or a major screwup by the ref (Herb Dean in Aina-Evangelista). I have never seen a fight result overturned because of judge incompetence, and even if it were possible, this fight was far too close to be able to make any kind of case.
exaclt right. They will not get this decision overturned. There was no Controversy at all like a illegal blow, Head but, eye poke, A fighter cheating, etc Even then its almost impossible to get a decision changed. The bottom line is it was the Judges decision, and no matter how absurd or horrible that decision may be its the way they saw the fight. And no commision will over turn a decision. Shaolin should just accept the loss and move on.
Shaolin was robbed
But I seriously doubt that they will change the outcome.
Correction
Robbed is overused, in my opinion Shaolin clearly deserved to win 30-28!!
Is that you Jordan Breen ? He has been going on all week on his radio show and twitter about how the fiht should of been this score. I usally don’t disagree with Breen but in this case I do I myself saw it as a close fight that could of went eather way.
Definitely not
BE and one other site are my source for MMA, the one time I did goto Breen’s Twitter page he ruined the Soko/MINOWAMAN!!! fight for me…
You can watch the fight and clearly see the wrong man was awarded the decision.
Don't see what makes the fight a robbery
I scored it for Fancy Pants in a close decision. Control is key, and it’s something overlooked by fighters. When Fancy Pants was holding Shaolin down and up against the cage, he was controlling where the fight took place. It might be a shitty rule, but the right guy won under the current criteria.
WHAT?
I’m pretty sure the entire first round was LB grabbing for a single leg against the fence. If VR is stuffing it, isn’t he controlling the fight?

I agree
If BJ didn’t get lucky and cut Diego. Sanchez would have won that fight by total control of one of Penn’s legs.

let’s just change the rule so that if it goes to decision, both fighters automatically lose. maybe then fighters would stop this trend of treating MMA like point-fighting and go for broke

Or they could add a shotout of sorts
Let the fighters stand in the middle of the ring and go shot for shot until someone falls…
…are you not entertained?!?!?

Make those nut shots and you've got a deal.
That way it’s athletic AND punitive.

I really don’t think that Jose Aldo in any way lost his fight against Urijah Faber among other examples. However, if you are being sarcastic though, then my sarcasm meter must be off.

am i missing something here?
is it just because hes unsatisfied with the decision? Or did something happen?
just another one of those decisions where neither guy did a whole lot of damage and ended up being decided by largely-useless takedowns. Beerbohm, like many wrestlers (as much as it pains me to say), was pretty much just point-fighting, and it worked. Close fight, could be argued either way, zero chance it gets changed
Like many wrestlers ? Beerbohm is not from a wrestling background. If anything his background is penal system based. Beerbohm finishes fights, out of 14 wins this is his second decision. He said his game plan from the get go was to fight in the clinch with Shaolin and not take it to the ground becasue how dangerous shaolin can be. To me it was kind of like the Couture vs Vera fight a decision that could of went eather way one fighter controlled the fight and the other had for offense. Even thouigh Shaolin did not nearly half the offense output that Vera had.
Fancy Pants
is totally ham stringed fighting without elbows.

Beerbohm does come from a successful high school wrestling backround. started wrestling when he was real young. maybe he learned how to throw some hands and some killer instinct while locked up, for one year.
10 years wrestling versus 1 year fighting off buttsex means his instinct when stuff aint working still is to wrestle
He said in a video interview I think it was on Fanhouse that he got into something like 3 fights in prison and 2 fights in jail while he was locked up. He talked about double legging some huge guy and smashing his face in.
i’m glad u changed your tune. yes, Beerbohm only has 2 decision wins, but most of those TKO’s are via wrestling and bashing guys faces on the ground. i never said he doesn’t finish fights, but in this fight, he was fighting by far the best bjj-player he ever faced, and resorted to a lot of positional wrestling because Ribeiro posed a threat off his back, unlike most of Lyle’s previous opponents.
Changes my tune ? I still don’t think Berrbohm is from a wrestling background as much as you say, Sence the first thing he talks about learning all the time is bjj. I would call him a classic jack of all trades type of fighter. Surehe has good MMA wrestling but that does not mean he is from a classic wrestling background. Sence he really had no background befroe getting out of prison.
2 judges gave beerbohn ALL 3 rounds
when most media scored it 30-28 for shaolin

That's why there are three judges...
So when one messes up, the other two can get it right…
