The Ultimate Fighter 11: Team Liddell vs. Team Ortiz Live Discussion (Episode 8)

OK, this is taking reality TV a little too seriously for my taste, but was anyone else slightly irked that both wild cards (what a titillating new addition to the show, by the way!) came from Team Punishortiz? This conveniently guarantees the second round will feature four Ortiz fighters match up with four Liddell fighters. The whole format is absurd anyway, but that doesn't mean I have to sit idly by and let injustice go unnoticed.
The rigged wild card draws mean "Mr. .500" Kyacey Uscola will do battle with Bloody Elbow super hero Kris McCray. Maybe we brought him on well after the show was taped, but I think it's safe to say he was fighting with Bloody Elbow in his heart on the show. Go Kris (from six months ago)!
Tito's still on the show. I'm starting to think we're getting Vince Russo double swerved. Tito doesn't leave. He's still fighting Chuck at 115. The whole Jenna thing was an elaborate media stunt. But probably not.
So join Bloody Elbow and discuss this show while you wait for The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights 2: UFC Primetime: Rampage vs. Evans. At least that's what I'll be doing.

I was going to bash you for calling the format absurd, but that saved it. Kudos, Mike Fagan.

But if Vince Russo wrote this, Tank Abbott will be dancing at the end.

The fact that team Liddell won more fights and already had one guy stepping in for an injured teammate was probably part of the reason too. That said, I didn’t think McCray and Uscola were gonna be the picks..

wake me up when tito leaves
or if yager fights, i honestly hope he has some kinda ground game and wins the show cause i think hes got a future
and while the fights have been pretty good im still hoping we can get a relevant TUF star like back in the old days of forrest, diego, rashad, and joe daddy and this current crop of fighters has somewhat disapointed it doesnt look like theres anything more than a gatekeeper level guy here

uscola not bad
but i dont wanna see a guy with a 18-15 record in the ufc, unless ur randy couture losing 10 fights to the absolute best fighters a near 500 record isnt a good thing to have
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
if you look at his record he fought alot of tough dudes like mousasi etc on a couple weeks notice.

omigawas doing a nice job of stinging wins together
his record sucks but his recent streaks dont he won 6 outta his past 7 and only lost to kanehara whos pretty damn good plus omigawas record at fw is great many of the top fws are failed lws like gamburyan, brown and faber
uscola is now 3-4 in his last 7 and lost to some true no names, theres no comparison between these 2

Kyacey with the stomp kicks to the knee. That’s some dirty shit. I don’t care if it’s legal, it’s fucking dirty.

i have a bad knee
and seeing that shit just makes me wince in pain, those shots really shouldnt be legal
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
No way it's "Dirty"
dirty? Dirty?? DIRTY? DIRTY?? What in the world is dirty about kicking out someone’s knee? Hell, in my classes we actually PRACTICE front snap kicks and side kicks to the knees (Matsubayashi Shorin-Ryu under J. Santamaria if anyone cares). Besides, as my Sifu (Thomas Sotis, again, if anyone cares) would say, the only people who complain about something being “dirty” are the losers. They’ve already taken out downward elbows (stupid), digit manipulation, and even pretty much have made it so striking with the tricep area of your elbow is illegal… Pretty much anything which gives guys with a stocky, short arm, short leg type of body an advantage has been made illegal. Just about anything which gives the guy on the bottom the advantage has been made illegal.
It’s very hard to actually kick a person in the exact right spot where it would hyper extend the knee, never mind having to do it precisely when the person puts maximum pressure on the leg. Side Kicks and front snap kicks to the knee dissuade people from wanting to stand and fight with you which is exactly what you want to do to an opponent. It’s not DIRTY and it’s certainly not EASY… make it illegal… geesh! Go watch a boxing match or something.
gah, just got home; fight already on… damn

it seems like he was starting to go off, and then either stopped or they cut it out because someone realized how serious it was.
It really makes no sense for him to continue. What if he makes it to the finals? Are they going to delay the championship fight for him to get his knee fixed? Is he going to have go for a few months without an acl?

Ain't got shit on this beauty

Walking the line between intelligence and ignorance since 1985
@deowade
Well my small body of running water died. Someone fill me in on what happens.
Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
OOOH! my directv says they’re going to 11:06

Standing Guillotine? Must’ve wrenched his back pretty bad.

i want best of pride
fuck these primetime shows
We have a saying back home that if your coming on, COME ON!!!!
Dana punkin' out
Thank You! So I’m not the only one who thought D Dubya’s actions were more than a bit sketchy when he picked 2 Ortiz fighters. Puh-lease! As if! and all those other L.A. terms (okay, they were LA terms back in the 90s). I’m honestly sad to say the more D Dubya ages, the more suspect his actions become. The fairest method of picking the wild cards would have been to have the coaches of each team pick one of their “losers” and then throw them in, not to have Dana pick ‘em. But Dana’s fight selections, when HE has the control, have always been ridiculously biased either one way or another since TUF began its run, what? 6,7,8 years ago?
he's gotta do his job
he is looking for who he thinks are the most marketable fighters. I don’t trust Dana to do whats fair, I trust him to do whatever it takes to deliver a good product. the UFC may not be perfect but it is the archetype for mma. I’m sure he didn’t choose the biggest can’s either.
Not to mention it had already been noted most of the fighters were injured.
