I don't know....doesn't seem like he's making excuses though.

I think it’s just Shields’ style that gassed him out, not necessarily him not being in shape. He just needs to stick to 205 since he’s getting old.

...or severely underrating Shields.

I like Dan. If he used that right hand to knock out every one of the big names in Strikeforce until he retires I would be happy. I just think it was the constant ground work that wore him down. I don’t see anybody else doing it quite like that so hopefully he pulls out a couple more big wins.

Dan certainly was not prepared for a full five rounds, and there were times where he didn’t even begin a sprawl before Shields had clinched up the single leg—he looked like ass after the second round.

Dan’s never had good defensive wrestling.This is the same guy who got taken down by Akira Shoji,Ninja Rua,Ricardo Arona,Yuki Kondo,the Nogueira brothers,and Rousimar Palhares,among others.On paper he’s a better wrestler than all those guys,but every one of them was able to put him on his back.I can’t believe everyone is so suprised Shields was able to do it.
