In a previous interview Alistair said he would stop by Ariel’s radio show, didn’t think he actually would.

That's true..
http://www.cagepotato.com/alistair-overeem-beats-five-nightclub-bouncers-nearly-loses-hand
When it was announced that Alistair Overeem turned down a Strikeforce heavyweight title fight against Brett Rogers due to an injured hand, we thought it was one of those phantom injuries that mysteriously arises when someone asks you to fight a comparatively unknown up-and-comer on a month’s notice. But it turns out Overeem’s injury is very real. And there’s a pretty interesting story behind it. Fighter’s Only has the tale…
In a recent blog posting, Boon told how Overeem (29-11-0-1) had suffered a hand infection following a nightclub brawl earlier this month. According to Boon, Alistair and his brother Valentine (26-22-0) – both heavyweights – had been involved in an altercation that left five security staff needing hospital treatment.
“Alistair attended some famous dance club with his brother Valentine. Went to the toilet and did not have coins to pay the toilet woman. Alistair told her he would pay a euro when he came back, because he did not have change. Then the security guard who was near by started to get involved,” he wrote.
“Brother Valentine saw the incident and also started asking what the problem was. They offered to pay, but by then 6 security guards came over surrounding them. The Overeem brothers were asked to leave, Alistair was already outside when he saw his brother Valentine fighting.
“Valentine still was discussing the situation on his way outside with one of the security guards hit Valentine in the face with a flash light. Three security guards dived onto Valentine and brother Alistair wanted to go back inside to help his brother. This resulted in five security guards in the hospital.”
Boon went on the reveal that one of the security guards involved in the incident was fired afterwards, while a second tried to lay the blame on the Overeem brothers.
In the meantime, Alistair Overeem was complaining of a painful cut on his hand and went to hospital at the urging of Golden Glory team mates.
“It was only because of the management pushing him to go to the hospital that he saved his hand. When he finally got his injury checked, he was advised to stay a few days in the hospital. They told him if he would have come any later he would have lost his hand,” said Boon.
Neither Strikeforce nor Golden Glory have said when Overeem can now be expected to defend his title and a match is unlikely to take place before the end of the summer.
Well, at least it didn’t happen in one of those gay clubs. Now let this be a lesson to every American traveling abroad: When you’re partying in Holland, always keep an extra Euro in your shoe. You do not want to raise the ire of the Toilet Lady.
It disappoints me when some vocal people in cyberspace hide behind a pseudonym and make malicious and baseless attacks against athletes that have never failed a screen for banned substances. These keyboard toxicologists think that they can merely look at an athlete and "know" that so-and-so is a "juicer." There is a term for that. It's called "delusions of grandeur," and medication may help. (Dr. Johnny Benjamin)

Dutch bouncers sound like dicks. Didn’t Bas Rutten get into a very similar bar fight where 5 bouncers decided ‘ya, that looks like a guy we should fuck with?’
Yeah
He has great interviewing skills and knowledge, but somehow he just seems a bit awkward in front of the mic when it comes to monologue delivery. It could just be his relative inexperience showing, however; maybe with a few more years experience he’ll be as smooth as any radio jockey.

ehh the awkwardness is what make his interviewing so effective.
He catches people off guard and comes off as more honest than other media people.
I don't think so
Either he needs to do more preparation or someone needs to bake some weed into his bagel, because is totally frantic in the Overeem interview, cutting him and the callers off constantly and trying to do too many things at once. Overeem, by contrast, loves the camera and is super polished from doing tons of interviews in recent years.
Also, I liked how that caller dropped some bogus 1 million dollar offer for Karo and they just carried on, as if that was a totally plausible scenario that did not warrant any further investigation.
Spencer Pratt, really?
I think having Spencer Pratt on the MMA Hour literally took the show down a huge notch. Sad…sad.

I was thinking the EXACT thing...
wtf???
Day-man! Fighter of the Night-man! Champion of the sun. You're a master of Karate and friendship for everyone!
"Charlie"
Spencer Pratt? What business does he have being on an MMA show. I don’t watch the Hills but I happened to catch one of the latest ones when i was too lazy to change the channel working from home and I never realized how batshit crazy he is, or at least acts on the show. Collecting crystals or some shit to give him good fortune. Also completely lying about how he had a BJJ blackbelt when he was on that celebrity survivor type show and talking about how he would kick everyones ass was pretty sad.
Kevin Casey has a lot of negative energy around him.
He’s had drama with trainers and the fans. And he hangs around Spencer who’s known for nothing but negativity.
The black belt thing was just dumb.

that was funnymy head was hu
rting at the end, Alistair in thaT small hat was funny.
Impressed with Alistair’s comportment. I thought all of the horse meat and stuff he was taking was turing him a lil psycho. Maybe I was taking that bike smashing and reporter molesting videos out of context. Nice job proving the skeptics wrong.
Karo Parasian turned down a 2yr 6 fight $1Million deal?? Hardy freaking har.
Pratt may give the most entertaining interview I’ve ever heard. That guy is on another level of promotion.

My favorite quote...
Was the one about America always being the best and if we don’t win it’s because we sent the wrong guy. Tbh I’ll probably use that every time we lose an individual competition from now on.
Google Ron Paul!
“No, I know who Lindland is. He’s a silver medalist…I usually only care about gold medalists. He failed for America. He didn’t get us the gold medal. He came in second place. I know that America’s the best so we obviously didn’t send our best fighter.”
“I won’t be in Portland for the fight because it isn’t supporting my friend to watch him go bloody some poor, innocent foolio who thinks he’s a fighter because he brawls out with his fellow duckhunters.”
Unbelievable. This is some of the best trash talk and he’s not even the one fighting!
Thanks for writing out the quote
I was kinda busy last night and yeah whoever this guy is he might be the best fake(real) nut on TV today.
Google Ron Paul!
I agree.
I hope he keeps fighting in the states, and Hell if he beats Fedor he should go clean up in the UFC… but we shall see.

Holy shit.
Spencer had better not hit up any clubs in LA now. Mayhem will find him and kick his ASS.
He goes on to say...
People would blow it out of proportion.
No I don’t think it’s sarcasm. He slipped.
by Ave Imperator on May 18, 2010 1:37 AM EDT up reply actions
He has done that very same throw to people in his K-1 fights.
Naysayers said he could only do it to people smaller than him.
lol people who say thats not an impressive throw are fucking crazy. Bretts right shoulder( upper body ) is actualy dipped opposite side of the throw before its happens…just pure strength.
Yeah I don’t see Brett’s foot slip at all. I see his upper body being tossed before his left plant leg leaves the mat. The momentum from Brett’s punch pulled him to his right and Overeem threw him back to his left. Brett may have helped some when he swung with left hand back behind Overeem’s head but he didn’t simply slip.
that is a helluva throw. doesn’t it seem kinda weird that Rogers never even attempted to get to his feet here or the other time he had a chance?
Overeem had good base
Controlled his legs and when Brett tried to get up he got guillotined for a few seconds.
Food goes in here
"King Scott Coker"?
Do you think Scott Coker pays some fighters sometimes while inactive? Just curious.

The birthday surprise was hilarious. He went along with it the entire time, pretty good guy. Glad to see him getting out there and showing people his character, seems to be a genuinely nice guy.
I'm sure Alistair's used to it
I mean, can you imagine what they do in Japan?
I agree with Alistair’s assessment of the 2nd Hari fight. I didn’t think that last knockdown was a real knockdown either.
agreed.
but at the same time, it’s a bit comforting to see guys saved from getting unnecessarily KO’d and this is coming from a guy who got into to MMA by looking up knockout videos on the webbb.

I wish Alistair was a douche bag so I could hate him. Barry Bonds was a steroid pumping ass-hat to everyone he met. Overeem is a genuinely cool guy, and humble for how skilled he is. Its difficult for me to dislike the guy now. He’s winning me over.
There is always that chance that since he hasn’t been proven guilty, and since SF just tested him for steroids, that perhaps he is not a juicer. Just a thought.
Well yeah that too. I hope he didn’t. But being a baseball fan my whole life has caused me to question every athlete I see with muscles, and that’s probably unfair.
I continue to watch this video and more and more like Overeem. He’s smart. He knows a lot about the sport in general. He has a good head on his shoulders. He’s funny too. He cracks a few jokes with Ariel. The deciding factor in fighters (and athletes in general) that I am a fan of is personality. All of the fighters I like have likable personalities and AO is no different.
The AO & Ariel Show!!
These guys are two of mma’s greatest personalities and they feed off each other in a great way, THANKS for the video!

I was hoping that when they said Spencer Pratt
They messed up and meant Pete Sprat.
Being overrated is overrated.
LOL
Yeah AO has probably done some crazy stuff with japanese media but the b-day surprise was still hilarious.. “Alistairs getting an iiipaaad!” LOL!!
That is without a doubt the best MMA interview I’ve ever seen. Not only did it have some legitmatley interesting info (like the stuff about Fedor’s management and the Badr Hari fights),but it has some absolutley hilarious moments.Seeing Alistair Overeem with a little birthday hat on holding a “Birthday King” balloon is one of the funniest things I’ve seen in a LONG time.

Agreed.
Alistair seems like a really nice guy. It looked like he had fun doing the interview. I am on the Reem bandwagon.
Can we get a JPEG of that? That is the new Fedor ice cream pic.
And BRILLIANT inside info on the thugs at M-1 and how they run Fedor (try being a famous rich guy in Russia without protection. Fedor needs them) and Hari. Hari will probably come around to MMA; he’s only 23.

I remember watching clips of Ariel back in the mmarated days and he was just awkward. His broadcast skills have really grown since then.
Damn, that interview did more to make me love this guy than watching him fight did (and that’s after seeing how impressively he beat Rogers). He’s a pretty cool guy. Nice to see someone chill and have a little fun and not have to be a hard-ass.
(Helped make up for having Pratt on the show)

After that interview there's no reason for me to dislike him
He comes across as a genuinely nice guy. Props to Helwani for the interview as well, he’s always good behind the mic.
