Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery - Live Results and Commentary
As with every major show, BloodyElbow.com will be here to bring you live results and commentary for Strikeforce: Heavy Artillery. The live blog will start with the beginning of the Showtime broadcast (at 10PM ET) so make sure to make Bloody Elbow your home for this event.
As always we have our one rule: NO SPOILERS! In the interest of not ruining anything from the undercard that may make the broadcast we ask that you do not discuss the results of the undercard in the comments until either the broadcast ends or the fight makes the air.
The broadcast is live. First fight up shortly.
Antwain Britt vs. Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante - Round 1 - Feijao with a left hand counter early and Britt jabs in return. Britt wading in with power shots and they lock up. Both men landing some shots in the clinch with Feijao getting the better of it with some knees. Britt throwing some heavy shots but they're mostly blocked. Now a one-two lands for him. Britt misses with some uppercuts and now Feijao with a nice knee from the clinch. Right hand from Feijao and Britt's legs go rubbery, a flurry of follow up shots and Britt goes down! The fight is over! Rafael "Feijao" Cavalcante wins by TKO (punches), round 1.
Kevin Randleman vs. Roger Gracie - Round 1 - Leg kick from Randleman. Randleman winging some heavy punches but missing. Right hand from Gracie lands. He's throwing really plodding strikes. Knee lands by Gracie. Jab from Gracie lands. Right hand by Gracie lands hard and he's actually the one landing the better punches so far. As they work the clinch Gracie lands a few knees and starts looking for the guillotine choke. They almost go to the ground but Randleman scrambles back up. Gracie using his reach to work the jab. Randleman throws three power shots but doesn't really land and the round ends. 10-9 Gracie on my card. Round 2 - Pair of body shots from Randleman land very hard. Gracie landing some hard jabs and Randleman starts trying to get away and eats a few more punches. Again as they clinch Gracie is looking for the guillotine. Knee from Gracie puts Randleman down! Gracie jumps on top of him in mount. Randleman trying to spin and they're in north-south, back to mount, arm triangle is escaped by Randleman and he gives his back. Body triangle from Gracie and he's looking for the rear naked choke. The choke is in and Randleman taps. Roger Gracie wins by submission (rear naked choke), round 2.
Ronaldo "Jacare" de Souza vs. Joey Villasenor - Round 1 - Jacare shoots and Villasenor sprawls. Jacare with the takedown. Now some ground and pound from half-guard. Jacare in mount landing brutal punches but Villasenor escapes out the back door. Back to standing and it's Jacare landing the better strikes before getting another takedown. Jacare with some huge ground and pound now. They're back to standing and Jacare with big strikes before a slam takedown back to half guard. Villasenor is getting completely outclassed here. Villasenor escapes the kimura attempt and the round ends. Easy 10-9 for Jacare. Round 2 - Right hand counter by Jacare lands hard. Jacare with a power double and he's right back on top.http://www.sbnation.com/admin/entries/edit/1237440?community_id=117&type=Story Villasenor explodes back to standing and lands an uppercut counter to a takedown. Jacare does get it back to the ground and lands some punches. Villasenor escapes again and is back to standing. Villasenor starting to land some punches now. Left hand lands for Jacare and a double leg to get back to the ground. Back to standing again and Villasenor trying to do some work but the round ends. Closer round but I'd still go 10-9 Jacare. Round 3 - Right hand lands solid from Villasenor. Jacare bleeding from the nose now but he lands a hard punch and then can't complete the takedown. Villasenor is starting to land a little more as Jacare gets tired. Right hand from Villasenor. Jacare can't get the takedown again. Right hand from Jacare and a takedown. Jacare doing damage from the top and this fight is very one sided yet the announcers are calling it close. Awful stand-up from the ref, Villasenor tries to land a few strikes but gets taken back down. The round ends and it should be a lopsided decision win for Villasenor. 30-27 on my card, I could even see 30-26. Official Scorecards: 30-27, 29-28, 29-28 all for Jacare Souza.
Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva vs. Andrei Arlovski - Round 1 - Silva with an inside leg kick and Arlovski with a clean right hand. Leg kick lands again. Left hand lands for Silva. Jab by Arlovski lands now. Left hook lands for Silva and Andrei takes it. More leg kicks from Silva. Nice counter by Silva and he's winning the exchanges early. Right hand and a left both land flush for Silva and Arlovski is still standing. Silva lands as they break from a clinch. Silva with a single leg. Diving punch lands for Silva. Arlovski just doesn't look right. He's flat and throwing much wider punches than normal. The round ends and it was a clear 10-9 for Silva. Round 2 - Silva continues to counter whenever Arlovski throws. Right hand for Andrei lands finally. Right hand by Silva lands hard. Arlovski trying to work some dirty boxing and they're restarted in the center of the cage. Arlovski prevents the takedown. Again as they're clinched up they're restarted in the center of the cage. High kick from Arlovski blocked and Andrei with a low kick and three solid punches. Arlovski with a right hand and an uppercut. Left hand for Arlovski again, I feel like with the announcers ignoring it that he's not actually doing any work. I actually think Arlovski may have won that round given Silva only landing one sharp punch. Round 3 - Two jabs from Arlovski and a low kick. They clinch up against the cage and Silva lands a few short body shots. They trade right hands. Right hand lands for Andrei. A few punches land for Silva and that makes Andrei back up. WIth half a round left they're restarted in the center of the ring. Two punches land for Arlovski. Takedown from Silva and that may win him the fight. Silva posturing up and landing a few punches. Arlovski stands back up and with 20 seconds he's likely on his way to a loss. The round ends and I scored it for Silva to give him the 29-28 scorecard. Official Scorecards: 29-28 across the board for Antonio Silva. Antonio Silva wins by unanimous decision.
Brett Rogers vs. Alistair Overeem - Round 1 - Overeem misses a couple punches, they briefly clinch with no damage for either man. Leg kick from Overeem. And another. And another. Left hand from Rogers. He goes off balance and goes down. Overeem gets on top of him and is in side control. Overeem with some elbows to the body. Rogers tries to get up but almost ends up in a guillotine. Overeem opending up and Rogers is trying to get up. Overeem landing a huge flurry here and the fight is over. Overeem was just far too strong for him and once Rogers was on his back he had no way to get back up. Alistair Overeem wins by TKO (strikes), round 1.
For those interested, I will be on Sporting News Radio to talk about the evening's action at 12:25am ET.

What the hell is the Art-a-Whirl?
At least you won’t have to worry about recording the Shine Fights tonight.
It’s the annual Arts Festival in NE Minneapolis. Shit is getting really big. All sorts of concerts, art exhibits, free food and wine. It’s really awesome.

I’m headed for the boundary waters in 10 days, hows the weather been? it’s a long drive from Dallas, but totally worth every second of it
It was terrible for about ten days straight (cold, rainy) but this weekend has been amazing. Just in time for Art-a-Whirl and the fishing opener. I think I’m heading up North next week, myself.

Ever been to Portland Oregon? Art, wine, music, it’s pretty amazing you can find a decent event to zero in on year round.
You know--
I had some clients in from Seattle just this week (Woodland Park Zoo) and they were telling me how much I’d love it there, and in Portland. I’ve always wanted to go, but that’s the remaining part of the country I’ve never been to. Have you been to NE Minneapolis? Apparently the cultures have a lot in common.

I’ve never been to Minny, but the Pacific Northwest is just a great area. Great culture there, great music and art scene. Everything just feels more intimate.

That’s how NE is. No chains whatsoever. I’ve been told it’s pretty much the same. With any luck, I’ll be out there in a couple months to attend a prebid meeting for Seattle Experience.

Does this really need to be said for a Strikeforce card, when is the last time they aired an undercard fight?
Does anyone know if they’re taping the Beerbohm/Riberio fight? I’ve heard conflicting reports that they may or may nor broadcast it.
I would assume
that would be the first undercard they would play…. I hope

Why must you always reduce these things to this? People can not like something without simultaneously stroking Dana’s ego. I’ll be pissed if they don’t air Shaolin/Beerbohm if there’s available airtime.

I’m not reducing anything to anything. All I’m saying is that it takes promotions and networks time to get their shit together when it comes to broadcasting. I will be disappointed if they don’t air Shaolin/Beerbohm if they have time, and I’ll call them on it just like I did when they didn’t air the Cormier fight when they had plenty of time to do so.
But seriously, it takes time.

Yeah...too bad SF doesn't have a good example to look up to...
What really makes SF stupid in some of these cases is their intention to learn all the hard lessons themselves rather than learning from other’s mistakes / growning pains.
A couple things
1) Their production does suck. They should fire the TD and get a new production crew. Production is their number one problem. Followed by not getting their fighters bouts,
2) they have the misfortune of always being compared to the UFC. From ppv and gate alone last year, the UFC had $250 million in revenue. Strikeforce will be lucky to make $25 million this year from gate and tv license fees.
3) People complain about how bad the Strikeforce prelims are, when actually they are very good and they are always aired. They are called Challengers.
4) I’ll be upset if the don’t air that fight as well,
5) I don’t even know if this reply is even for you. I am trying to type while watching the Katsidis/Mitchell fight.
Exactly
If they are still doing the half ass production deal at Strikeforce 114 then I’m going to be pissed. Really does Strikeforce ever get cut some slack. Did Scott Coker run over everybodies dogs?

If someone makes a shitty montage— it’s just that, a shitty montage. People aren’t allowed to dislike anything non-UFC or they’re being bullies. Strikeforce is a multi-million dollar organization, not a runaway teen. Give me a break..

You criticize the UFC and you are a Zuffa hater who wants the sport to fail. You criticize Strikeforce’s production (which had some fucking obvious flaws) and you’re a bully who only appreciates the Zuffa product. Its funny that I can make opinion based value judgements on SF that has nothing to do with the UFC and vice versa.
"I am a man who pisses largely and frequently, which they say is a sign of great mental activity" -Henry Miller-
Obviously those things should not be true.
Strikeforce’s production has a long way to go. The montage wasn’t great, their commentary sucks more times than not, their time usage sucks. But I still just don’t expect everything to go swimmingly for a promotion pretty new to this type of broadcast situation.

It’s still okay to criticize the product, in my estimation. Something that is not good yet is still plainly not good. If someone else wants to provide a disclaimer that, hey, these guys should improve in time, fine, but one should not have to do so each time they mention Strikeforce doing something substandard.

As consumers we should criticize the product. We should be selective. Its the only way to maintain quality. Strikeforce is still a quality product, they just have some things to shore up.
"I am a man who pisses largely and frequently, which they say is a sign of great mental activity" -Henry Miller-
Additionally
Being a creative director and having been in marketing/creative services for many years, I’m not just throwing stones when I criticize their production values. I’ve worked in television in the past (granted, not in sports) and have loads of experience with consumer relationships. Some of the things they’re doing seem, to me, like they could be remedied without rehearsing. And some of those little things could combine to mean the death of their promotion if they don’t address them now. They don’t have UFC time because they don’t have UFC money.

My main thing is that I don’t think the handling of undercard fights in a subpar montage is the biggest deal. Would I love if they fixed it? Absolutely.
I don’t think not streaming weigh-ins matters…at all.
There are legitimate, pressing things going on with Strikeforce that need to be remedied NOW, but I don’t think those things fall into that category. Time management is a much more pressing concern for me. There never should have BEEN a montage of the Mayhem fight because there was no reason it couldn’t make the air.
Criticizing them is fine, but at the same time, some aspects are seemingly overblown because of the UFC’s ultra-refined product.

But most of those production problems are not Strikeforce’s to fix. Showtime handles the television broadcast. Strikeforce is stuck in the unenviable place where to actually make money and have their product distributed to a wider audience they have to depend on Showtime and and CBS to do their job. And when they don’t (which I don’t think they’ve been doing) they get the blame because it’s their name and their events we’re watching. It doesn’t help when the only other promotion anyone is familiar with is light years ahead of you in the presentation department.
Personally, I expect a little less production value from a company who is working on the free – or at least reduced price – business model as compared to a ppv juggernaut.
I still don't understand what you're getting at
I plainly stated that I left work early yesterday to watch the weigh ins. That’s why I (that’s me; a guy) thought it was stupid that they didn’t air them. And it is stupid that they didn’t air them. It turns out they didn’t because their host suspended their account, presumably for a lack of payment. It’s not like they said “Hey, we’ve got more important things to do”— they fucked up. Little thing, maybe— but it’s a reflection of a lot that they’ve been doing. The little things matter. All of them.

Supposedly, because of an issue with viruses, they switched servers but were overloaded. According to the host’s (singlehop.com) FAQ:
1. A site has gone beyond the resource limits of the shared hosting account. Now I’m a Luddite, so you tell me how likely that scenario sounds?
This is one of the obvious times when someone needs to upgrade. If someone’s business exploded quickly and their shared accounts were overwhelmed because they had not planned on such growth. Every shared hosting account, no matter how "unlimited" will have resource limits that one’s site cannot breach on a regular basis. Generally, this is the reason for the "account suspended" pages one so often sees when browsing reddit, Digg, Slashdot, etc.
That's possible
I got seriously butt fucked by a host two weeks ago that changed all of their access data due to hacking. Problem being, they decided not to tell me for four days.

Criticizing them is fine, but at the same time, some aspects are seemingly overblown because of the UFC’s ultra-refined product.
If anything, too much is underplayed. People in the media seriously took issue with the WEC being thrown under the UFC rug from a broadcast point of view (to be fair, I don’t believe you were one of them). Casual viewers being confused over a great card was a big issue, apparently.
Strikeforce can’t find contenders for their champs, nor are their champs even getting proper contracts: an issue that is almost certainly related to their undercard woes. Where are the editorials for Sarah Kaufman, Erin Toughill, Beerbohm, and Shaolin? Let that sink in: their own champs don’t even know when their next fights will be. That is not a problem of inexperience, nor is it highlighted by the bar Zuffa has set on MMA. That is straight up incompetence.

The UFC is a self-produced product that blazed its own trail, so they needed time to learn this stuff.
Strikeforce has Showtime and CBS producing their broadcast and they are very experienced in producing live sports presentations. You can’t cut them the same slack precisely because of that and the fact that they already have the UFC as an example to go by.
They just treat these events like they don’t really give much of a shit, or at least it comes off that way.

To be fair, I think your basic point is right, but I think criticism over bad production is justifiable. They also get a lot of kudos when awesome production values are shown, such as the opening for Strikeforce: Nashville.
It’s when they get criticised for not having streaming weigh-ins, or when people bitch that Brett Rogers is getting a title shot after a loss that it goes over the top. Frankly so long as any organisation is putting on good fights at either a good price or free they have my support, but I think it’s not an unfair point to note when said good fights get detracted from by bad fights.
And I still make fun of the UFC’s extended preview clips!
Yeah but prior to the event it was announced that they would try to to air as much of it as possible with time permitting.
Nothing has been said about this fight.

They can’t even do a proper fadeout, though. You can see where the noise stops and the white starts. That’s like one of the easiest things to do.

some people are directionless burnouts with so little going on in their personal lives that they can direct a large chunk of their days to lurking around combat sports sites and shunning even the slightest bit of interaction with the outside world.

So credit the photographer
I hate that about a lot of creatives/graphic designers— they take a photo and put some mediocre effects on it and now they’re artists. Funny, that.

It’s only my opinion— I’m saying, it looks “cool”, but I wouldn’t give the designer a lot of credit. Then again, I laugh at a lot of the stuff people cheer on from a design perspective. I can show anyone where to find a load of free high res textures, stock photos and AI brushes and they can all have a go.

haha.
no it’s cool. I get your point, and I’m not really proud of some of the stuff I do, especially if it includes stock photos. It’s kind of a cheat really. :)
I’m doing really simple hobby-level stuff, and I’m not delusional to think that the stuff I do, (even those on my DA, which aren’t as rushed as these haha) are quality graphic-artist level.
by Anton Tabuena on May 15, 2010 10:45 PM EDT up reply actions
Keep it up, man. And be more confident in what you do— it’ll improve the quality. Also, everyone uses stock photos and the other things I mentioned. My point was that anyone could use those three things in unison without training and people will go “ooh— pretty pictures!” even though there’s no real substance. You can bring up a star in AI and hold down the tild key (~) and make some shit that would make a kid giggle with joy (go ahead, try it), but you’re not really doing anything.

No hockey games, no Mayorga/Din spectacle to flip back to, now I can devote 100% of my attention to Silva knocking out Arlovski.
I want Overeem to win just because Overeem vs Fedor would be amazing, but I can see Rogers surprising a lot of people, albeit probably not standing and trading.
Picks:
Megareem – KO R1 (a brutal leg kick will signal the end for Rogers)
Bigfoot Silva – TKO R2
Jacare – Sub R1 (Alligator Roll)
Randleman – UD
Feijao – TKO R1 BEEEEEEAAAAAAAANNNNNSSSS!!!!

Check out the YouTube videos; dunno if it’s getting an official US release (though supposedly the EU version and hypothetical US version will be more graphic), but BestSKU has Hokuto Musou for $69.99 with free business card holder (with logo) and Koei Tecmo phone pouch.
Chinese-language “back of the box,” Japanese manual and in-game text, but will work on a US PS3.
Not sure that I can find images of the figures
But I got a set about eight or nine years ago. They’re totally awesome.
And I think the game comes stateside no matter what.

If you really don’t like it, though, don’t watch it. I loved the first 2 seasons of Battlestar Galactica, but after the 3rd season finale, I hated it. If I don’t like Lost, I’ll stop watching it. Don’t waste your time if you don’t like it, but I do suggest trying again.

I've got Overeem here, but to explain it as if I were Shamrock
I have trained with Overeem before and he can hit and grapple/wrestle like no other heavyweight I’ve seen in Strikeforce besides Fedor. Brett Rogers sucks. I’m not a Brett Rogers fan. I heard he has a passionate relationship with farm animals. Go Alistair Overeem.

The guys they want to win are winning and the fights are pretty entertaining. Definitely going more their way than Nashville, just too bad it’s on Showtime instead of CBS.

It’s not just technique with BJJ that is impressive with him
I believe I read that Jacare beat Maia two out of three times in BJJ competition…is that right?

If thats 10-9 then they need to re-evaluate judging criteria (obv. they need to anyway). The whole boxing 10-8 round if you get a knockdown is irrelevent to MMA. That was one of the more one-sided rounds in every phase of the fight I’ve seen this year.

Why is it 10-9?
Do you need one fighter to be closer to a finish (either by sub or knockdown) for it to be 10-8? Jacare dominated but wasn’t ever that close to a finish. I’d call it 10-8 though.

This would be my scoring; I know the first is 10-9 for some people, but there is such a difference between Round 1 and the last 2 rounds. Round one was totally lopsided, the last two were won by Jacare, but not nearly as dominantly. There needs to be a difference between a dominant round and a close-yet-clear round.

Arlovski's chin is underrated
Yea I said it, Silva, Fedor, Rogers don’t exactly hit softly. He doesn’t have a good chin but its not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. His chin wasn’t the problem vs Rogers or Fedor, he left himself open for some monster shots from two strong guys.
Bigfoot isn’t anywhere near those other guys in the striking dept.

the cabbage fight? that guy from lions den with one pectoral muscle that had to be carried out in a stretcher? be fair the guy hits hard.
He can still deliver a shot
And between all their fights, its not clear either has a “bad” chin. Yet Arlovski’s KO loss is part of the evidence of his bad chin.
Silva is going to wake up thinking he had just fought Pele again.

You only need one Play by Play guy, which would be Rogan. Bas is the best in color for the “flavor” he brings to a broadcast, and Mezger/KenFlo (who I like) are both good technical color commentary.
I think he’d be better than Goldie in pbp. He is left doing a half play-by-play for the UFC because of how bad Goldie is. He’d be just fine in the role.

He was fighting a much worse striker in that match. A GIF of Arlovski beating up Rothwell who is 100% just covering up and not moving stuck in a corner isn’t really meaningful.
The gif is supposed to represent his career not just that specific fight.
If you think the guy who was just in the ring is the same hungry guy back from that gif…I don’t know what you were watching.
Just cause somebody is no longer a world beater doesn’t always mean that they should retire. This is how the man makes his bread. If he wants to keep it up, then so be it.
Obviously some guys get to a point where they really should hang up the gloves, but every time somebody falls off, we needn’t request that they quit.
Well he really should take a step down in comp. He’s putting himself in danger.

all we really learned is that Rogers is completely clueless off his back.
And that AO’s GNP is fucking lethal

Well, that was more massive strength advantage
than technique. With equal strength, he was completely lost.
Dude, the fight wasn’t even competitive. He beat Rogers on the feat and on the ground. Rogers had a very even first round against Fedor even going so far as GnP Fedor.
Overeem is undefeated in his last 9 fights, and other than the NC versus CroCop (he should have won), he has pretty finished all of his opponents in the first round except for one. Overeem has been very impressive.
I didn't say Overeem didn't a very good job
but, ultimately, Rogers was beat because he was totally lost on his back. All he was doing was pushing with his legs. That was his only attempt to get up. Leg pushing. That isn’t technique, that’s lack of technique.
Holding a guy’s leg to not get up kicked, while keeping the opponent from getting up, and maneuvering for GnP is pure technique. Rogers escaped Fedor’s top position, don’t forget that. Fedor must be pretty bad at MMA t allow a lack of technique Rogers in getting up.
Fedor is also a natural middleweight
Rodgers is definitely bigger and probably stronger. That can help a lot
This might be the stupidest excuse I’ve heard. How the fuck 234 lbs man is a natural MW?
"...ride life straight to perfect laughter,

He has at least 20 pounds of fat laying around
Cutting that out would put him at 210-215 walking around and he could cut to 185 without too much trouble.
Not afraid to nitpick
But how is that “being natural MW”? Being natural MW and being able to go down to MW are two different things.
Natural MW is a guy who weighs around 185 lbs.
"...ride life straight to perfect laughter,

by dancingChicken on May 16, 2010 1:29 PM EDT up reply actions
As I said earlier
Because of the massive strength edge Rogers had over Fedor, the pushing like a trapped jackrabbit worked. Against an opponent with equal strength he had no technique whatsoever. He didn’t try to recover guard or do anything but cover up and push with his legs. He’s got no skills off his back whatsoever. That was abundantly clear.
oh pls AO….pls piss off Fedor…do us a favor and go punch his bro

Even stranger because they don’t have ads on their other shows and have complete control of their lineup. That being said, I assume they have some consultants advising them on what to air and why, and they are definitely doing it for a reason. I wouldn’t be surprised if the number of people who tune out after the headliners are over is higher than most would think.

I like how you say ‘fed’ to Fedor when Overeem just demolished a fighter Fedor almost lost to.
"Referees, be sure to step in and stop the fight on time tomorrow, because I might get carried away in the moment and my many punches may end up destroying my opponent." - Tatsuya "CRUSHER" Kawajiri
Im a fedor fan, but...
Absorb punishment until he lands a massive overhand or swings the hips out for an armbar?
To me, that’s not game planning, that’s an ability to capitalize on small mistakes. Fighters with impeccable game plans don’t often get caught in bad situations. See: Rua, Shogun in his two outings against Machida.
It works
But its not a gameplan.
Its impeccable timing, confidence, and a decent amount of technique.
I still think
Wandys run in PRIDE was more impressive that Fedors career. I know I will get flamed but that is my opinion.
Like I said,
in my opinion it is more impressive than Fedors run.
I think he meant that
Fedor hasn’t always fought the best either. So, moot point
He sure does, and one day it will catch up to him. I’m saying that day will be when he fights Ubereem.

I dunno about that
Lesnar’s shot is vicious and he’d have a ~25 pound weight advantage (which isn’t Rogers’ fat)
Not afraid to nitpick
That's what I'm saying.
Standing, Overeem would feed Lesnar his teeth in a brown paper bag. If Lesnar shoots a big power double without eating the knee of destiny, its a completely different fight.
I wouldn’t say easy, but Alistair could compete at the top of the UFC that’s for sure.

Poor Lyle Beerbohm gets hosed again. This from and interview with Strikeforce’s Rich Chou after the Lyle fiasco the other day:
Rich told me he was sad and disappointed that it had gone this far as he was the one that signed Lyle to the Elite contract and has watched him grow as a person and as a fighter. When asked why this fight was not televised when many fans consider it to be a "Fight of the Night" candidate he told me it was just a stacked card and many of the fights had major implications in their respective divisions. As of right now Strikeforce is still working on trying to secure a live stream for this fight so that the hardcore fans can watch it on the computer as it happens. One needs to remember that all fights are taped and if one of the main event fights does not go as planned then there is always a chance we could see this fight on TV.
Can be found here: http://www.fighters.com/05/07/lyle-beerbohm-versus-strikeforce-exclusive-press-release-and-story?submit_foot=f
In the comments section I questioned the chance of that fight making the broadcast and even questioned whether Showtime would tape the undercard.
Here is the response I got:
This was told to me directly by Rich Chou, the matchmaker for Strikeforce, in one of two of our conversations today.
Sounds like maybe Rich Chou was caught spinning things a bit or maybe just flat out telling a lie. I don’t expect anyone to call Rich Chou or Strikeforce out on it though.
Just BE.

Am I the only one that hated this show as a whole? Am I just a little bit tired? Gracie Randleman was like driving a car with little kids making up jokes. AA and Silva felt like a big clinch-a-thon. Overeem looked like a professional fighter and Rogers looked like some guy they found at a tire changing station. Jacare and the first fight was decent, but Jacare looked gassed to me and barely eaked out a decision through takedowns.
But Brent, did you really score that fight a possible 30-26?? That seems a little bit crazy to me. I think I need to get some sleep. Nighty night.
