So, this Airport Hilton isn’t going to let them videotape these weigh ins?

Pretty weak
How aren’t they airing their weigh ins? Just about anybody can live stream anything these days and Strikeforce can’t air this? Pretty strange..

Just shows
the lack of effort on their part, I would say the weigh-ins are a huge part of the event. You never know what crazy stuff will go down, maybe a fight, crazy entrances, etc… see UFC for the correct way to run a MMA promotion.
I told you not to f*ck with me.
Strikeforce number one problem – by far – is production. My theory is that since neither CBS or Showtime are paying to put them on, Strikeforce is not going to spend a dime to air them. Without an incentive, like ppv sales, there is no motivation to make the weigh-ins a Zuffa-like event. A shame.
You don’t need PPV to generate more fan interest in your product, and to satisfy your loyal viewers. This is just lazy, honestly.

It's not lazy; it's cheap.
There is really not much of an incentive for Strikeforce to air the weigh-ins besides hardcore fan interest, and we all know they don’t mean squat. Showtime isn’t paying for the weigh-ins, and won’t give them any more money if they do. If they were airing a ppv, it would make sense because the promoting would lead to more sales which would find its’ way back into their coffers. This is Strikeforce being as bare bones as possible. We should be used to it by now: this is how they operate.
- They spend little to nothing outside of what advertising they get from Showtime or CBS.
- They put what should be their prelims on Challenger cards so they can get paid to broadcast another event. In place of their prelims they book a bunch of cheap local fighters who can help out with the gate.
- They don’t even tape the prelims because Showtime doesn’t want to pay for something they won’t even be airing, and Strikeforce doesn’t want to pick up the tab.
Having a viable second promotion is a double-edged sword: they have to be frugal enough to stay in business, but when they don’t have deep pockets that also means you have to put up with what we’ve been getting,
I’ve got Arlvoski, Jacare, Rogers, Cavalcante, and Beerbohm. Still having made up my mind on Rogers/Overeem.
You're really great at powdering Coker's hindquarters
It’s cheap? They’re running an international MMA organization. I can live-stream myself taking a shit and typing this reply and I don’t even run a local MMA organization.

Can I ask where someone can view that live-stream of you shitting?
Purely for educational reasons, of course.
Well, you do work in Hollywood. Your experience probably prices you out of his range. And the live-stream of me shitting is on HDNet right now. I outbid Coker for the time slot (two backrubs for Mark Cuban).

Eh…Really the fact is that there is no incentive. Who would watch it? Us? Is anyone not going to watch the fights that would if they had seen the weigh in? Would anyone watch the fights if they did see the weigh in that would not have otherwise?
I mean, I’d enjoy to see them take that step, but in terms of important advances Strikeforce needs to make I’d put “stream weigh-ins” very low.

What does priority have to do with this?
It’s do or don’t. You can’t make up the terms as you go along. You do it or you don’t do it, you don’t pick and choose. Did you receive a press release that said Steve had to go buy cups or something? And if you’re seriously writing this up to whether or not someone will watch tomorrow, you have a lot to learn about building equity in a company and how to properly develop a quality reputation with consumers. Because that came out of thin air.

just pointing out, though, how Zuffa has changed everyone’s expectations and set the bar higher and higher for what is expected out of a show. sucks to be competing with them.

That's true
I mean, I called off my work day early to watch this before I have to prepare for an art festival, but I sit down at 4:00 to see the feed and there’s nothing available. Almost seems like they didn’t decide until today, because I hadn’t heard a thing about them not doing this.
More than that, they’ve long had the issue of not recording undercard fights, which is a lot harder to believe than this. That’s downright lunacy.

He is in better shape...
I’ve got that on pretty good authority. He took the Fedor fight very seriously and had his best ever camp before it. And rather than crumble after the loss he went and started working even harder to get better. His camp was supposedly insane.
