Looks a bit like Megareem there.

Excuse me, but there seems to be some BROCK in my LESNAR.
Maybe he accidentally drank Overeem’s urine sample.

If he had accidentally imbibed Overeem's urine
He would probably have put on 50 lbs of pure muscle from the steroids.

That last pick almost looks like they're holding him back from somebody.
It’s good to see he got a warm reception. I’m very curious as to what he’ll say in the press conference.
haha
it did kinda look like that, the other guy that’s pulling him is probably trying to get him away from the airport fast though, Machida is a really cool headed guy.

Good to see he's still in high spirits after his first loss. Lyoto will still be a huge force in the division for many years to come!

agreed
the look on his face as eh left the arena made me worry he’d gotten on that Crocop suicidal tip, or the Griffin crybaby thing.

Nice to see a fighter not covering his shit up with dark glasses.
Sure glad Lesnar got his shit straightened out.

Never understood
why they do that. That’s a badge of honor and you should wear it with pride.
I know, BJ was wearing glasses in all his interviews after the Edgar loss.
But maybe he scratched his eye or something like that and couldn’t have light on them.
Man. I love Machida. It was a bad loss, but not something career breaking. There is no shame in losing to Shogun, especially when he’s looking as good as he is. Just gotta heal up and get back in the gym. I don’t think there are many people that can beat Machida, even if Shogun has his number. If 9/10 guys attempt to fight like Shogun against Machida, they’ll get punished.

I think you touched on a very interesting point. Machida is probably the toughest match-up for everyone at LHW (except for Shogun). I would even go so far as to say other fighters are going to have a better chance of beating Shogun than they are of beating Machida. It’s not a dig on Shogun and no one is going to have anywhere close to an easy time fighting Shogun. It just so happens that Shogun is a very bad match-up for Machida and he proved it in both of their fights.
Yep. Strong wrestlers will have an easier time with Shogun than any striker would. We saw where Lyoto took him down with relative ease, but couldn’t keep position. A decent wrestler will be a different story. I dunno, if Machida tears through a few guys, I’m not opposed to another fight with Shogun. I think it’s rather sad that so many say they don’t want to see another fight, when it’ll likely come down to Shogun being number 1 (if he stays champ) and Lyoto being number 2. And this is disregarding Anderson Silva for the time being.
We’ll just have to see how it plays out.

I think the reason why so many don’t want to see another fight is because it’s too soon to talk about it. Machida was brutally finished a couple of days ago. Shogun’s finish was definitive. I’m sure people didn’t want Rampage to fight Wanderlei after they fought for the second time. Machida just has to make sure he doesn’t become irrelevant and get this loss out of his mind quickly.
Yeah, the majority of people don’t bother looking at the big picture. I have no problem saying that if Lyoto can look good against the other contenders, he deserves another shot at Shogun.
I don’t think Machida will be defeated by his mind, he seems to have a strong will. Hope he gets back in the octagon quick.

Agreed.
Until Machida loses a couple more fights, I’d say the division has yet to go before they “figure” him out. Shogun is just Machida’s kryptonite. Sometimes that’s just the way it goes.
I still think it’s Lyoto’s fight to lose, he needs more tweeking to do, and training, but he had the right idea to beat Shogun. But this is MMA, you get into a gunfight with a guy like Shogun, you’re getting hit.

I don’t think Shogun is aftraid of getting hit by Machida anymore. If Machida doesn’t get KOed quick again, we’ll see a repeat of rounds 3,4,5 right from the start if we get Machida/Shogun 3.
Keep Firing, Assholes!
Excuse me, but there seems to be some BROCK in my LESNAR.
Well, thats a terrible thing if Shogun isn’t careful about being hit. Machida might not be the most physically powerful guy, but he knows how to get into position and work angles that allow him to hit the right spots, rather than just going for power shots till the guy drops.
I thought Machida was winning round one of this fight, so long as he keeps working, and winning, I think in the rematch he might be able to work his plan far better. Once again though, Shogun’s power will cut the fight short if he makes it happen.

See, I thought Machida could best Shogun with some simple changes to his game plan. But watching both fights again, it is clear that Shogun clearly has Machida’s timing down. That right hand he hit Machida with, he’s hit him numerous times before in the first fight. It’s just that this time it hit him perfectly. When you see Machida pounce, Shogun is there to hit him. Even though Machida was the aggressor, there was a couple times before he got KO’d where Shogun hit him flush in the mouth when he was trying to attack.
IMO, the big mistake Machida made was being the aggressor. He’s been so careful in the past, but by being the aggressor, it opened him up for Shogun to hit him. It was supposed to be the other way around, with Shogun’s aggressiveness leaving him open for Machida. I just think Shogun has his number.
Disagree
The round was fairly even until Shogun clipped him and did a great job capitalizing. With the two takedowns one could even give it to Machida. I’m also not convinced that Shogun’s cardio problems are a thing of the past, rather than a product of being worn down by grappling. Machida obviously took him down effortlessly but Shogun is great at getting back to his feet. Shogun clearly has the power edge so sharpening his grappling and wearing him out on the ground might be a better strategy for Lyoto. I’d love to see a third fight down the road.

i agree… for a LHW, Machida is low on the spectrum of power in his hands. He has to hit you perfectly, and in the Rashad fight, it was many shots to the chin. His kicks have good power tho. For me an interesting question about the Coleman fight is: was Shogun gassed from defending the takedowns and all that wrestling, and that’s why he looked “mediocre”, or was it because he was still recovering from the knee surgeries? Or a bit of both? If Rashad beats Rampage through wrestling/takedowns/laynpray in a 3 round fight, you know he will try and wrestle the hell out of shogun.
It seems like in several of the Machida fights, he weighs in at 204, and despite some posters saying how much more muscled he looks, to me the guy is a small LHW without a lot of power. Obviously his speed and technique have more than made up for that.
Last random point- the icebags on legs in the first fight with Shogun were a TERRIBLE idea… the last thing you want in a fight/game is ice, then the vasculature (blood vessels) tightens up- you want good blood flow to your muscles to deliver oxygen and remove carbon dioxide and other waste products…ice is for after the fight.
I am with you on Shogun’s cardio question marks. I see Rashad taking him down relatively easily but question if he can hold him there. Rashad has better top control than Machida but I don’t see him doing much damage or threatening unless Shogun gasses in the later rounds. I can see this happening and that’s why Rashad is a much tougher fight for Shogun than Rampage.
Someone was saying Machida was super cut and weighing like 196 a week or two before the fight. If that’s true 185 sounds like a possibility, but who knows if that’s accurate. I think Machida beats almost everyone at 205 given the paucity of wrestling talent in the UFC’s division. Until Phil Davis, Jon Jones, and hopefully King Mo make their way up the ladder, Machida and Shogun should be able take care of most comers. Lil Nog might give Shogun problems on the ground if he can take him there.
Interesting point about the ice.

To me, it looked like Machida just gave up his style Saturday night. I mean, when has he ever just given a guy range to hit him like that?
That, or Shogun was just so good that Machida’s game just fell apart. A really good fighter can make someone say after the fact that they just weren’t executing their game plan right, when in reality, they were being taken out of their game.
Opinions?
He seems in good spirits after the loss. That’s the first step towards recovering your fighting mojo.

Glad Machida hasnt lost his heart.
I am a fan of both Machida and Shogun but Im glad to see Shogun won mostly because I thought he won the first fight. I must agree though I think Rashad (as much as I cant stand the guy) would be a terrible match up for Shogun yet machida’s in and out strike and get out style gave Shad fits. Cant wait to see how the Lhw picture pans out
Rashad is wrestling again, and Shogun’s a lot easier to take down than Machida. Can Rashad hold him down and does Shogun gas after 3-4 rounds of wrestling. Those are the questions. I don’t see Rampage giving Shogun too much trouble.

How hasn’t he already had medical exams, the fight was 5 days ago?
Keep Firing, Assholes!
Excuse me, but there seems to be some BROCK in my LESNAR.
He has
Ed Soares said had a hairline orbital fracture and may need surgery to repair it in an interview a few days ago.
his wife said he won't need surgery
but this is all before any medical exams, they should know tomorrow for sure.

That’s awesome to see a fighter in high spirts after a loss, especially when it was the first of his career. He could have just sulked and disappeared, but met his fans, great to see
