I thought Filho was out because of Visa issues

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail." - Jack Burton

I guess it hasn’t been officially announced? Because it’s strange that they’d still post odds for the fight for sure.

It’s still a go as of saturday.

Bellator CEO says Paulo Filho vs. Hector Lombard is still a go for Bellator 18

“I’ve been on the phone with all the appropriate people and we’ve got everything in line.”

Rebney today spoke to Filho’s representatives, who said that Filho is traveling from Brazil to the U.S.on Monday and will have his pre-fight medical paperwork completed the next day. But there is a Plan B if Filho fails to materialize.

“We’ve backed ourselves up; we’ve done everything we needed to do in protecting the sanctity of that event, but my hope is that he shows up,” Rebney said. “I think Hector Lombard deserves this fight.”

If Filho shows up sane and actually fights this is an easy money maker.

Guess they didn’t want to match Joe Warren up with the two Jiu Jitsu guys… wonder why…

Those were some juicy odds for Filho, Haley Joel Osment or not.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.

I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.

And although Warren will probably make it to the final, he isn’t getting past either Reis or Frerierierereretc.

questionable move for jay silva

he has some potential, but doing this last minute against a killer like lombard probably means he’ll now have dropped 3 in a row and be 5-4. not a good way to get career momentum back.

Yeah, you’ve got to admire his spirit but I’m not sure it’s the wisest career move.

two things

1 – I love pibbles as much as the next guy, but can we please place a moratorium on the nickname ‘Pitbull’?

2 – Can we please place a moratorium on acting like nicknames are actual names? This doesn’t happen much, mostly just “Mirko Crocop” and “Patricio Pitbull” but it seems insulting to the audience’s intelligence, and we get plenty of that already.

In Brazil it’s fairly common for guys to be referred to in that way. It has nothing to do with insulting anyone’s intelligence.

okay but...

is Mr Filipovic Brazilian? Is this event being promoted in Brazil?

I totally admit its only a pet peeve and not an actual issue.

the brazillian guy should change what he is called because he’s leaving his home country?

Turn on a soccer game and look at the names. In Brazil lots of people go by one name or nicknames.

don't mean to be culturally insensitive

I guess a lot of my issue here is the way it looks more like showbiz than spot. Again, not a big deal, just something I find irritiating personally. I don’t mind some, or even a lot of showbiz in the production, but still think the emphasis should finally be on sport.

Should’ve mentioned “King Mo” in the original post, too.
