Looks like Overeem has been taking on all of Lashley dream matchups… just by looking at MMA competition (nevermind k-1) Rogers looks like a much lesser dog.

Super excited for this fight ...

Some great HW matchups in the next few months. Other than Lesnar vs Carwin this is probably the best HW match in terms of top 10 guys going at it. Hopefully Fedor fights the winner for the belt after he easily dispatches Werdum.

We’ve got Overeem vs Rogers, Nelson vs Dos Santos, Lesnar vs Carwin & Arlovski vs Silva before the end of the Summer. Thats going to say a lot about who the best guys are in the division. Now, if we could get a Mir vs Velasquez matchup that’d be pure tits.

I’m with this.

We know Rogers is a big puncher without much technique. However, Overeem is a technical and powerful puncher. I really don’t see Rogers rag-dolling Overeem either. Overeem doesn’t leave his hands down either. So again, barring a lucky punch, how does Rogers win this matchup? If I were Roger’s camp I would be taking this to the ground and try to damage Overeem there. To think Roger’s can stand with someone that has K1 level standup and is as big as Overeem would be very very foolish.

Exactly… they’re both known as knock out punchers, difference is Overeem is 100x the striker Rogers is. Oh, also he actually has a ground game, if it would go there (which I don’t think though). People picking Rogers for the win just do it out of hate for Overeem, either that or they’re just extremely uninformed about these two fighters skills. Rogers could get a lucky punch, but that’s about it really.

alistair has historically had a very questionable chin

rogers has bricks in his hands as well so standing with overreem isnt totally out of the question

In a one-year span Brett will have faced Arlvoski, Fedor, and Overeem. I can’t think of a heavyweight who’s had a harder schedule.

How would a humble Canadian watch this legally? Occasionally some of the Show Time fights are shown on PPv here in Canada (Carano/Cyborg was I think).
