Full Card and Bout Order Announced for UFC 114
With just days to go before this weekend's UFC 112 in Abu Dhabi, UFC staffers are still busy preparing for future events as well. This evening, the UFC confirmed the full card and bout order for May 29th's UFC 114: Rampage vs. Evans, in Las Vegas:
Main Card:
- Quinton "Rampage" Jackson vs. Rashad Evans
- Forrest Griffin vs. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
- Michael Bisping vs. Dan Miller
- Todd Duffee vs. Mike Russow
- Diego Sanchez vs. John HathawayPrelims:
- Amir Sadollah vs. Dong-Hyun Kim
- Efrain Escudero vs. Dan Lauzon
- Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares
- Luiz Cane vs. Cyrille Diabate
- Aaron Riley vs. Joe Brammer
- Jesse Forbes vs. Ryan Jensen
Russow, Duffee, and Hathaway will all be making their first appearance on a PPV main card, while Sadollah and Escudero (both TUF winners) are surprisingly on the preliminary card, along with previous main card mainstays Kim and Cane. Although it hasn't been announced, it's likely that we'll see some of those names on a Spike TV prelims special prior to the PPV portion.

not sure
if russow is an adequate test of “real deal” status or not. hope to see more than 8 seconds worth tho.

Russow is the classic test for a hot prospect: flawed but also good enough to win against someone who has more glaring problems.

the problem with that
is that then said prospect is only at that level of “good but flawed”. Not exactly Real Deal level.

That’s what the next fight is for. That’s why Velasquez fought Stojnic before Kongo before Nog.

yea thats fine
I’ve got no problems with progression, but I suppose the term “real deal” has some more meaning than just that. Semantics I guess and nothing big, but shrug.

There’s only one “Real Deal”, and that’s Ryan Ford.

I just meant if he can hang in the UFC cause if Sokoudjou taught us anything its not to jump the gun on fighters.
I’m sure Sadollah and Escudero will be the Spike TV freebies. Also, war Diabate!

You are probably right, but I really want to see these two:
Melvin Guillard vs. Thiago Tavares
Luiz Cane vs. Cyrille Diabate
Gotta say this is a little underwhelming, but HUGE repercussions for the 205lbs division on this card.
Don't really see how this is "underwhelming" please explain

I think this is about as good and deep as a card can get without a title fight.
I’d rather watch this than the one sided wonders of 112…
Sanchez-Hathaway
THAT is going to be a crazy fight. A dangerous fight for Sanchez because Hathaway isn’t a well-known fighter but a very very good one. He’s dismantled his opposition thus far and its been almost two years since Diego has fought at welterweight. And how does he respond coming back from such an absolute shit-kicking? His two losses where by decision and he did okay in them. Penn dismantled him like I’ve never seen someone that good get dismantled before. How does he come back from that?

TUF winners
I think the spike card is a great place for the TUF winners, best way to convert the casual TUF watcher to a PPV buyer

for some reason I think the Griffin/Nogueira fight is gona get switched around somehow. either its going to get postponed or wont happen at all . idk why I just think that
For some odd reason
I have the same exact feeling you do. I’m going to be in the building for the first time for 114 and I hope it doesn’t change.
It'll be my first live event as well...
So you two quit jinxing my forrest match!!!

I don't mean to be rude but..
The Brothers Nog are the same age(maybe by a couple minutes). He is just smaller.
Kimbo wants to take your caterpiller and do bad things to it.
this is a good card.
I'm like PacMan fightin you silly kids... throw ya Hatton the ring, and get knocked outlike Ricky did.
lol.
really?
Hi, my name is Forrest Griffin and I won the LHW title by standing with Rampage for 5 rounds in a close fight. I’ve also got a win over Shogun.
Clearly he isn’t a world beater, as we’ve seen vs Evans and Silva, but unless you actually rate him as like… top3, I don’t see him as being “overrated”. He’s pretty obviously around the bottom tier of the top10 and if he wins this fight is probably ranked around 5 or 6 behind oh lets say…. Evans, Shogun, Machida, Rampage and Anderson should sites rank him at LHW. He’s got wins over two of those people as well.

Great card. Rampage vs Evans has a ton of built in anticipation.
The casual fans will be all over this card.

Spike Prelims
I’ve got to wonder, especially sponsorship money-wise, if it isn’t better for some up-and-coming fighters to be on the Spike Prelims as opposed to the actual PPV main card? Seems like a chance for better exposure and therefore more sponsorship money.
Good card , doubt i'm gonna get to see Bisping go to sleep again.
Who the hell is Joe Brammer, Riley ’s prolly gonna run him
yeah just looked it up
If he can get Riley to the mat I guess Joe is supposed to be a good grappler but Riley will fuck him up if it stays standing.

So Diego’s head doesn’t still have an axe buried in it?

They actually did a pretty good job stitching him up, there was some twitter pic I saw and it did’nt look to scar too bad.

Rampage
is gonna merk Rashad. he is gonna get in reallll close and put rashad right to sleep. go ahead and get photoshop ready to put the blanket in rampage’s hands.
does anyone else think
that Amir is kinda like a welterweight Forrest?
Great ground game, killer leg kicks with a striking style that wears down opponents rather then koing them. Even their personalities are similar!
Am I putting too much thought into this? Probably :P
yeah, I think he is very similar

I think your'e spot on
I’ve been hearing that ever since he won the TUF, never thougt so myself until his last fight where he told Joe he was hoping he would say something about his kicks so he could say “Roadhouse”. That shit cracked me up.
by doonerthesooner on Apr 7, 2010 10:35 AM EDT up reply actions
Very similar. I’m starting to think that Sodallah might have a higher ceiling as a fighter, though. Maybe I’m being sucked in by the “imagine how good he’ll be after four more fights!” line of thinking.
"I'm AJB and I endorse this nut-puncher."
I doubt Sodallah wil ever hold a belt
by doonerthesooner on Apr 7, 2010 10:49 AM EDT up reply actions
sure he will
how else will he keep his pants up?

Considering that he is only scratching the surface that is a fair assessment,
But Forrest did win a title, so Amir would have to do something pretty impressive to reach higher than that.
Solid Card
Looking forward to the Rampage-Evans fight.
Randy Hahn: "I’ve been referred to as a playa…"
So Aaron Simpson vs. Chris Leben did get moved to the TUF 11 Finale after all
Stacked card.
Sig bet record: 1-0.
Put the Stun gun and amir on the main card! i could care less about diego sanchez and who the heck is john hathaway?! thats rhetorical :P
