Noteable exclusions: Lil Nog and Semtex. I hope THQ isn’t blamed for leaving them out. It’s likely that the fighters didn’t want to sign their rights over.

That or time constraints just didn’t allow them to pick up fighters who, at the time, weren’t making any waves. Regardless, this roster is great, and I can’t WAIT to play the demo. I’m pumped.

I haven't played Metal Gear,
but I have tried Mass Effect 2 on PC, and it is really good.
(note: I’m not much of a PS guy, so…)
by Anton Tabuena on Apr 28, 2010 1:16 AM EDT up reply actions
And that's saying something
because Mass Effect 2’s PC port was awful compared to the excellent PC port they did for Mass Effect.
By all accounts, ME PC > ME 360, but ME2 360 > ME2 PC
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
beat Mass Effect 2. Everyone loves it. Count me as the one guy that thinks it’s way overrated.
MGS4 was all around great minus the overly long cutscenes (which you should expect from an MGS game) and the ending as absolutely terrible. Step down from MGS3 imo tho.
and since God of War 3 is in the conversation. Had a couple great fights; probably 2 of the kewlest boss fights I’ve ever seen. But largely the game is forgettable. I traded it in already. I’m not sure why but nothing made me want to come back and play it again. Maybe hack n slash games just aren’t for me.
What else…Uncharted 2. Great game. Another horrible ending tho. Boss was just plain stupid. Still great tho overall.
Man, I must be jaded…

It’s way overrated if you thought it would be not just the greatest game in history (which it is) but also the greatest game that will ever be created and ever could be created. The latter statement is justified only to the extent you believe that ME 3 may be better.

I agree and I haven’t even played Mass Effect.

I loved last years game...
I’ve no doubt I’ll love this years too, for what I’ve seen EAs effort doesnt look too hot, but surely most people will buy both anyway? Just to fight as Fedor! :-D

by Michael Warren on Apr 27, 2010 8:29 PM EDT up reply actions
I won't
just like 2009 create your own Fedor template will be there. The mistake is that EA is banking on people getting both but it will not work. This year is saturated with great game releases (not a complaint at all) so I do not see that many people picking up a game with half as many fighters and twice as many that they have no idea who they are. Gaming and MMA are my only real hobbies and I won’t be buying EA MMA or whatever they call it.
last years game was great
extremely fun if not somewhat flawed
excited to see how this one is
And Clay Guida...
…being in this year also warms my cockles, God bless you THQ for figuring out how to animate his hair without clipping!

If anyone with time on their hands wants an idea for a Undisputed related fanpost, how about finding and making before and after pictures for the character designs that have been touched up? Soooooooooo much better than last year. Can’t believe they actually made some fighters with the character creator for last years game. Glad they corrected that.

by Michael Warren on Apr 27, 2010 8:34 PM EDT up reply actions
The devs admitted in last years game they made a lot of the fighters in their own CAF system (and probably touched em up a bit). They say they scanned everyone this time…and it looks like it is true based on all the fighters I’ve seen. In the last game, Arlovski definitely didn’t look right. Thiago Alves looked completely off too….just to name a couple.
Amir was probably the worst case.

I think that’d be a brilliant way to introduce them, if licensing allows for it. I’d pay 9.99-12.99 for a new division, no question. Maybe more.

i could see them charging 20 bucks for it
it’d def be worth it though adding another 25-30 playable charcters
it’d be a huge hit too im jsut wondering if the WEC has the fighters image rights the way the UFC does with their guys, i could imagine urijah keeping his seperate like randy does
Yeah, I’d pay a full 29.99 for additional lightweights and two new divisions.

That would be a smart way to breathe some life in the game when sales eventually starts to flatline. Release an expansion pack with a whole new weight division and at the same time get the WEC guys’ names out there…maybe a counter for EA’s release?

what i wanna see in the online matches is the ability to set it up so u can choose guys by ratings
make 3 modes 90+, 85-90 and 85 and under
essentially half the fighters on the roster are never used since everybody plays as the same fighters in the online mode if ur a ww u play as gsp, mw silva, hw brock etc
make it so in an online fight i can choose chris leben and not be a complete dumbass
That's a great idea!
And very true, online you always end up fighting against BJ, GSP, Anderson, Rampage, Brock & CAFs, and we hardly ever get to have any good mid-level fights.
You should suggest that on the official THQ page.

Middleweight: 23
Welterweight: 24
Lightweight: 22
Catchweight: 1

I bet someone will create a main card of
Jon Fitch vs. Karo Parisyan
Gray Maynard vs. Nate Diaz II
Andrei Arlovski vs. Fabricio Werdum II
Mustapha Al-Turk vs. Justin McCully
Stephan Bonnar vs. Brandon Vera
All of those fights will end up not making the distance, thus ruining game realism.
The Seahawks have traded my signature to the Detroit Lions for a 6th round draft pick.
1 Karo won’t show up
2 Nate will mean mug his way to a sub win
3 Werdum will yawn at Arlovski, knocking him out
4 Al-Turk by DQ (groin pokes)
5 Vera can actually beat this guy

There's a bug in the game where a UK card at The O2 Arena looks like this:
Anderson Silva vs. Nate Marquardt II (main event)
Junior Dos Santos vs. Cain Velasquez
Diego Sanchez vs. Thiago Alves
Dan Hardy vs. Dustin Hazelett
Martin Kampmann vs. Chris Lytle
Turns into this….
Michael Bisping vs. Ryan Bader (main event)
Martin Kampmann vs. Chris Lytle
Matt Hamill vs. Krzysztof Soszynski
Ross Pearson vs. Cole Miller
James Wilks vs. Amir Sadollah

Plenty of those in the heavyweight division….
The Seahawks have traded my signature to the Detroit Lions for a 6th round draft pick.
Hendo?
Along with Andrei and Werdum, does that mean that they can’t be in EA MMA?
Did EA make Hendo just to promote their game for the CBS show, knowing that they won’t be able to actually use him when the game releases?
hendo has confirmed he is in the ea mma game… so is arlovski, dunno about werdum. these guys signed their likeness to ufc, but it wasn’t an exclusive deal like some fighters did.

As long as I can do the following things via cheat code I will be happy:
1. Nate Diaz triangle choke / double Stockton HeyBuddy combo.
2. Ride to the Octagon on a very high horse when I play as Shane Carwin.
3. Lecture my opponent into submission like Shane Carwin.
4. Kill Brock Lesnar when I play as Frank Mir.
That, I think, is all I need.

Nice to see the HW roster beefed up so much, I very rarely played HW in 2009 because there weren’t any compelling match-ups that I even wanted to play, but I have a feeling that’s a thing of the past now with all these great additions.
I think LW will be the best division to play there’s really a lot of great fighters and a lot of great styles to utilize now, would have liked to see Sotiropoulos in there though :(
And with the much improved CAF mode It won’t be long before there’s tutorials out to create all the great fighters that weren’t included in the game (and maybe some not-so-great guilty pleasure ones too).

I guess the developers had a cap on the number of explosive athletes in the game before your game system explodes in to 1,000 pieces.

Can someone please explain to me why referring to an MMA fighter as an explosive athlete is racist? Is this some running joke I missed out on?
Yeah, you see son, this joke comes from the UFC commentary team incessantly referring to any black fighter (Rashad, Melvin, Bones, Phil Davis etc..) as "explosive" or "athletic" or "explosively athletic" or "athletically explosive".

nah….once you understand what you are doing it is pretty easy. It did seem overwhelming complicated at first. This sequel sounds more complicated tho with the cage work, being able to do double and single leg takedowns, submission switching, etc. They way they described it in the Gamestop vid, tho, it all sounds like you pretty much use the same movements on the controller.

There was an option to move up or down in weight classes…. I’d love to fight as BJ, wipe out the whole LW division and then move up to fight as a WW. It would be cool if you had to go through an extensive training camp, or if your fighter would show effects (less/more striking power, less/more cardio)
Good news for you then....
They have include weight class changes this year, once you become champion of a division, you can move up or down one weight class.
