- What's next for Jose Aldo? Ben Henderson?
We'll also have Jordan Breen, host of The Jordan Breen Show on Sherdog.com, lend his thoughts on last night's affair.
"MMA Nation" will air tonight 9:00pm EST to 11:00pm EST on 106.7 The Fan. To listen live over the Internet, go to The Fan's website and click "Listen Live".

I shall be there like always, making stupid comments in the UStream while everyone ignores me. Maybe today will be the day we can actually hear the callers?
So how many rounds did you score for Jung? All 3? Why do the judges suck so bad? Are they influenced by the crowd’s chanting GARCIA the entire fight. Even they booed the decision.
Cerrone tapped pretty quick to that.
Suddenly Varner’s quick tap seems vindicated. Tough to shine any light on that performance when there are people running around claiming that Garcia vs Jung was one of the greatest fights in the history of MMA.
"Stop smiling you are about to be punched in the face !"
it wasn't, though.
i mean, it was a great fight … but to be “one of the greatest fights in the history of MMA” there needs to be some perspective, IMO. and frankly, it was just a couple of guys winging it, going 110 percent. i respect that, but Garcia-Zombie was simply one great fight on a night of great fights.
i don’t mean to take away from anyone’s performance, because i loved the whole dang card — but what Henderson did needs more than a passing mention.

Why do people watch Ustream instead of listening to the radio stream and then complain about not being able to hear callers?
because I prefer not to miss a second of that magnificent beard.

he does look like Tom Cruise from Collateral doesn’t he….+ a beard. King Leonidas, sure that’ll work.
Luke is approximately 4 feet taller than Tom Cruise.

I missed the show tonight. so I can’t answer for today, but last week the radio stream was not working for several people. Other stations worked fine, but theirs was dead air to me.

Mr. Thomas,
Who would you put Jake Shields up against for his first fight in the UFC, if he indeed does sign with them. Don’t pick GSP.
One love,

mike brown
What do you think about the rumors surrounding mike Brown? Dana white stated that Mike Brown went into the fight with a lot of issues and he missed 2 weeks of training? Does it take any credibility away from Manny Gamburyan?

Luke,
Who does Benson Henderson fight next? Shane Roller has already lost and beat the only contender I see in the near future. What do you think?

WEC and UFC
BE had a video of Dana clearing up the rumor of the LW’s mergining w/ the UFC. Because we shouldn’t beleive a word Dana says anymore, should we be prepared for them to merge or the UFC bringing in lighter weights on their card?
Dana didnt clear up anything...
if you guys actually read the quote, he said “eventually”, when they already have more weightclasses, they plan to move the LWs to the UFC.
That is not a rumor that Dana started then refuted, that is really his plans for the future of the WEC. People just assumed that eventually=a few days or so…

triple over-time was brutal I know.
You got us back last night. We won Friday night, not Saturday. And I’m not even a real hockey fan (blasphemy I know! )
Our Next Great one is Canadian though and that’s why you won! ;)
Forget it…just realized you’re talking Habs, not Sens.
I'm not a Hockey fan either but I've been jumpin on.
And I was referring to the Caps-Canadiens. We were supposed to lock that series up…(sighs)
But lets not get deeper into this cause of your "Next Great One " comment. Let’s keep it clean and stick to MMA for tonight. :p
address for the actual stream?
Anyone got an address for the actual stream so I can listen on my phone? Or any other ways to listen on an iphone?
Thanks
LUKE
Now that Manny Gamburyan has gone from a middle-of-the-road LW to possibly a Top-5 FW, make some sort of statement on the quality of the FW division?
Please dont yell at me!
Manny has looked a lot better lately – not nearly the wild striker he was, plus he’s no longer at a size disadvantage.

If the UFC absorbs the WEC, then how will they adjust to their much-larger roster? Will they have even more PPV shows at the risk of overtaxing the fanbase? Will more active champs mean more hyped cards for the casuals? Will they begin ruthlessly cutting more of their roster?

they say that the WEC
will do 2 to 3 PPV’s a year.
they could easily use the headliners of those cards to beef up the more than 3 weak PPV’s we’ve had already this year.

Mercy is for the...
Luke: Did you get the sense that Aldo was being merciful in the last couple rounds? (brutal leg kicks notwithstaning). I don’t think he wanted to smash the WEC posterboy’s face too badly in front of his hometown crowd
One more thing
Furthermore, Aldo had already proven his superiority – the fight was basically won – and the champ didn’t feel compelled to put an exclamation point on it unnecessarily and further damage WEC’s greatest commodity. So, Aldo didn’t really pull the trigger. This is, by the way, how I viewed Anderson Silva’s lack of a finish against Maia.
I agree with you on this as far as Aldo goes. What he said in the post fight about hating seeing fighters go to the hospital backs it pretty strongly. A lot of people will flame Jose for that, but it makes me like him all the more. If you’re no longer a threat, he’s kinda done with you.
I’ve thought similarly about Anderson in the Cote and Leites fights, but I can’t square that with him taunting and talking shit to Maia, clowning, dancing behind the ref, etc. There’s no accounting for Anderson, and I’m not giving him grief here either.

Fitch and Shields have done a grappling match or something. Shields won I believe. Given, I dunno how long ago that was and of course that takes away all the striking and stuff.
Shields choked Fitch out and pretty much outclassed him the whole time.
MMA is much different, but it was pretty one sided. I’d love to see the MMA version.

Could Faber have done better if he had a Roller-style gameplan? (ie stood for about 3 seconds and shot for takedowns over and over)

Luke,
What are the odds that a challenger for Aldo emerges from the Bellator 145lb tournament? Seems like after Manny (if he counts) that there are no challenges for Aldo in the WEC.
Or what if Edgar loses the rematch to Penn? One time PPV Aldo vs Edgar with no WEC label?
In short, no.
Joe Warren might be able to get Aldo down, but he’s so one-dimensional that it likely wouldn’t matter. Warren is nowhere near as good at finishing guys from top control as Faber, and I can’t imagine him doing well standing or on the ground.
Reis has already shown difficulty if he can’t get guys down, and I can’t imagine he’d be able to succeed where Faber and Brown failed. If he got top control I imagine he could do alright, but I think it would look like Silva/any BJJ guy.
Karakhanyan and Freire are too inexperienced.

Luke,
The UFC had to downplay the WEC brand for promotional reasons, appeasing both Versus and Spike TV. Will this association with the UFC carryover to future PPVs, and where does the WEC go from here?
