Rumina Sato vs. Ryota Matsune Added to May 30th Shooto Mega-Card

With three world titles on the line, Shooto's May 30th show in JCB Hall was already shaping up to be something special. At last night's Gig Tokyo 4, it got a little bit special-er.

Previously announced as a participant for the May event - the third in Sustain's "Way of Shooto" series - Rumina Sato took to the ring during an intermission. A video package then revealed Sato's opponent, who few would have predicted: none other than the "Shooto Junkie," Ryota Matsune.

The former Shooto world featherweight (132 lbs.) champion, Matsune was forced to relinquish the belt in 2006 after a serious knee injury left him unable to defend. The status of his Shooting career has been in limbo ever since, and he was long-considered to be retired from the sport.

The bout between the two Shooto legends will take place at a 62kg (136.6 lbs) catchweight and is scheduled for three five-minute rounds.

Also announced for the same event was the return of dethroned 132-pound ace Masakatsu Ueda. He'll face "Ironman" Akitoshi Tamura, who was recently handed his walking papers by the WEC. In a 154-pound scrap, Krazy Bee's Kotetsu Boku will meet ex-Cage Force lightweight champ Yoshihiro Koyama.
