Bellator LW semi-finals announced for Boston show

At today’s press conference for the upcoming Bellator 17 show to be held on May 6th at Boston’s Citi Performing Arts Center’s Wang Theatre, the promotion announced the pairings for the semi-final round of its season two lightweight tournament. Former UFC stand-out Roger Huerta will be facing off against the 10-3 Pat Curran, while the 8-2 Carey Vanier will face season one finalist Toby Imada. Tapology’s Steven Kelliher was on hand at the press conference to learn of the matchups and how the organization is setting up its plans for the lightweight division. Headlining the Boston card will be a non-title bout between season one champion Eddie Alvarez and Josh Neer, who signed with Bellator following a run of five fights in the UFC. The winner of the lightweight tournament is expected to challenge Alvarez for the lightweight title later this year.
