Ratings Are in for UFC Fight Night 21 and The Ultimate Fighter Season 11 Debut

Photo via UFC.com

MMA Mania has the skinny on UFN 21:

(Spike TV) today announced that the event drew an average of 1.6 million viewers, with the viewership peak coming in at two million for the main event between Kenny "KenFlo" Florian and Takanori "The Fireball Kid" Gomi.

Those numbers are right on par with the previous Fight Night offering, UFN 20: Maynard vs. Diaz, which averaged 1.7 million viewers while also peaking at two million.

And MMA Payout has the numbers on TUF 11:

MMAPayout.com has learned that Wednesday's debut episode of The Ultimate Fighter 11 earned a 1.5 HH rating with an average audience of 1.9 million viewers on Spike TV. The debut was the #2 rated program in the country amongst the M18-34 (2.1) and M18-49 (1.9).

If you recall, the debut of TUF 10 earned a 2.9HH with a 5.3 in the M18-34 and 4.3 in the M18-49. Thus the Kimbo Effect is in full effect. It remains to be seen whether the ratings will dip down to the 1.0 mark that TUF 9 experienced throughout much of the season, but it probably wouldn't surprise anyone.

All signs continue to indicate that the UFC is doing banner business on Spike TV but they are also holding steady at a plateau they reached in the middle of last year. The kind of ratings that Kimbo Slice brought to The Ultimate Fighter are clearly a one-time deal. It remains to be seen how many of the people who tuned in to watch Mr. Slice for free on Spike TV will follow him to PPV at UFC 113.

i'm not so much interested in the numbers

Its funny I wasn’t really interested in last season. I watched the end of the show fights. But didn’t really tune in to see the promotion of Kimbo slice. I though the quality of the heavyweight fights was terrible and it really turned me off from watching s10.
S11 I have my pvr set. I will likely skim thru the episodes and watch the fights mainly. But I am a lot more interested to see if they can deliver some quality matchups and perhaps future contenders.

who is nest for kenny?

His loss to BJ does not get many excited for a rematch. Kenny is like Fitch at 170 in that he has kind of beaten everyone but the champ. Maybe a fight with Diego? Who will he fight next?

Any news on Vitor? Will he get a title shot when he gets back or will Sonnen get a shot first?

GSP vs ??? next
Dos Santos vs Big Country? Damn Dana just doesn’t like Roy and wants to see him get KO’d. I

Good lord, man, you want answers to any more of the biggest questions for the UFC in 2010?
I agree, though, that these are the real questions with such dominant champs. I say Kenny vs. Gray has to happen for #1 contender. Even if Kenny can’t beat BJ, well, he’s still the best we got.
Fitch vs. Kos still needs to happen if Daley loses.
No idea about Vitor. I think he’s more intriguing than Chael… and more marketable.
Dos Santos vs. Cain should be next for #1 contender after Carwin. Big Country needs one more win to get into the mix IMO.

oops

If somehow Roy beat Dos Santos he’d be an instant star but I do not see that happening. Santos, Brock, Carwin and Cain are on another level and really so is Mir still. The drop off after that is pretty steep.
