UFC 115 Official for Vancouver
Rumors swirled earlier this week indicating that the UFC could not obtain approval for UFC 115 in June in Vancouver, British Columbia, and that the event would be moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. It now appears that the UFC has instead gotten things to fall into place and has officially announced the event for June 15th at GM Place in Vancouver:
UFC president Dana White commented:
Our Canadian fans are among the most loyal and enthusiastic in the world, and we are thrilled to bring the UFC to Vancouver," said Dana White, UFC President. "We want to thank Mayor Gregor Robertson and our partners at Canucks Sports and Entertainment for helping to make UFC 115 become the first UFC event in British Columbia."
Vancouver mayor Gregor Robertson added:
"Vancouver fans will be thrilled that the UFC is coming here," said Mayor Gregor Robertson. "We've worked hard to bring it to Vancouver and I want to thank UFC and Canucks Sports and Entertainment for making the event possible. Vancouver has some of the most passionate UFC fans in the world, and I have no doubt that General Motors Place will be packed on June 12th."
No fights have been made official for the event, and although it was initially rumored to be headlined by the third meeting of TUF 11 coaches Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, constantly-changing rumors indicate that some combination of Liddell, Ortiz, Randy Couture, and Rich Franklin may be involved. The rest of the rumored card includes:
Mirko Cro Cop vs. Pat Barry
Paulo Thiago vs. Martin Kampmann
Tyson Griffin vs. Evan Dunham
Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald
Ben Rothwell vs. Gilbert Yvel
Mac Danzig vs. Matt Wiman
Mike Pyle vs. Jesse Lennox
James Wilks vs. Peter Sobotta
Claude Patrick vs. TBA
Ticket sale date information has not yet been released, but we will update you when that information, and any other fight news, become available.

This is probably going to sound stupid but I’m kinda getting tired of hearing how the Canadian fans are the best.
It's probably because they are.
Even though Australian fans were really awesome.

I can’t speak for all of America but I was at the Philly show and we showed up early and diffinitly brought the noise. When Forrest came to the ring you could’nt even here yourself yelling as well as when Silva won.

fans that get shows less frequently are going to be more electric when they get their occasional shows. if the U.S. fans weren’t the most loyal, money-throwing fans, there would be less U.S. shows. Wherever the UFC is going next, Dana always lauds the fans so he can get them to be happy and happy fans spend money
You're right, that does sound stupid
There are more fans per capita in Canada than anywhere else in the world. I’m pretty sure i remember one of the staff here saying how BE got more traffic from Canada then anywhere else as well. Our mainstream sports networks carry MMA programming. MMA is mainstream here. We produce tonnes of great talent considering our population. We love MMA, man.
Maybe we are the “best”. What’s wrong with that?

This.
In the Q & A Dana did recently in Canada he said by the numbers they get Canada has the most MMA fans per capita. I believe he said based on PPV buys and on the amount of bars that get the PPVs. So if the numbers say that per capita Canadians spend more on MMA than anywhere else then I got no problem with Dana or anyone else giving them some praise for their love of MMA.
Just BE.
This is the closest the UFC has been to my home town and it would be a quick, cheap flight to make. It really is unfortunate that there isn’t a single fight that piques my interest other than Rory making his debut in the octagon. Condit was a tough draw for his first fight.
Mr. Happy Planet guy makes good.
Nice to see Gregor Robertson do something that I actually care about. (Says the selfish voter, haha). Ever since the success of the Olympics, the politicians here have been trying to figure out how to keep Vancouver a fun city, because apparently people like to have fun – go figure.
As for the fights the only fight that really gets my interest is the Condit – MacDonald fight. Really interested to see what this Rory kid’s got.
