Diaz has ADD for sure…the only time he’s focused is when he fights and when he is high. It sucks he’s reduced to fighting Mach. If it weren’t for his dumbass antics he’d be fighting GSP. I hope SF folds, Diaz is great fighter coming into his prime.
The more you drive, the less intelligent you are.
If it weren’t for his dumbass antics he’d be fighting GSP
No he wouldn’t.
He’d be getting owned by Fitch, Koscheck, and every other wrestler in the WW division.

Uh, no
What exactly are you basing this opinion on?
by Pantherhare on Apr 19, 2010 11:04 AM EDT up reply actions
The fact that he has no takedown defense and can be held down and pounded on for 15 minutes by anyone with decent wrestling and adequate submission defense.

GSP would kill him…you know
Who is talking about him fighting GSP…you know
Was he high during this video….you know
Playing the game would not be what he did after the Shields vs Hendo fight. Playing the game would mean stop smoking weed when you have a fight coming up. I don’t think this guy could play the game if he wanted to. Seems like he doesnt have alot of control over himself. Should take some lessons from his little brother.
Yes, his little brother who was in so much control Saturday night!

Wrong..
Playing the game would mean stop smoking weed “altogether” and owning up to his responsibilities as an athlete, person, and adult..
This kid shit is what got him booted from the UFC.. His actions in and out of the ring (majority around the ring) are his biggest flaws.. If he would just grow up and act like a responsible adult and carry himself in a manner in which reflects that, he would be able to make the most of potential.. Sadly, his character traits severely limit his full potential in terms of what he should be and could be doing in the sport..
Either way.. GSP>Nick Diaz all day long on all levels..

We can just say that the UFC was willing to part ways..
So in a sense… He was cut because they didn’t really jump at the chance to resign the guy either..
He was on a losing streak and Dana had the take it or leave it attitude.. He was just beat by their budding and rising star and Winner of TUF 1.. Diaz’s popularity wasn’t exactly at an all time high.. The kid has got loads of talent.. Sadly he waste’s the majority of it on things that don’t pertain to his talent.

I agree he should stop smoking weed completely as long as he is a professional athlete, but said prior to upcoming fights because it is legal in California and he does have a prescription for it. If it does help him with his ADD its ok, but not during training camps because he knows it is banned by the athletic commissions.
Actually I would say no. If Nick did get high before the event he definitely would have sobered up by the time the Shields fight was over. Hell I bet the boring fights alone would be enough to kill his high.
If he smokes before fights, there is not reason to believe he wouldn't smoke after that mess to calm his nerves.
I was basing my judgement more on his action, movements and his train of thought.
Where’s he gonna smoke it at? It’s not exactly the kind of recreational activity you can just start doing in the middle of a public place. Hell I would say he probably didn’t even have any weed on him, do you know how hard it is to travel with an illegal plant that has a very strong aroma?

In a locker room or a bathroom man or somewhere amigo...
A vaporizer could severely limit the smell… I know things are a lot more strict in the US, but people smoke everywhere here.
I love how everyone here is an expert on every fucking subject known to man
I’m sure by now Diaz has stumbled upon INGESTING his marijuana, which keeps you high for 6-8 hours and eliminates the need to try to find a “locker or a bathroom or somewhere.” Come on, seriously?

You know that Cali weed must be the shit if he thinks GSP is afraid to step in the cage and face off with him after a fight.

Well if you really break it down and think about it he’d really be GSPs toughest fight to date. Im not saying he would win but he’d be a harder fight than anyones hes fought in the UFC. Nick canand will beat you from anywhere. He has a great stance and sprawl. I think it would be an entertaining fight.

Nick's Sprawl?
I don’t think Diaz brothers can sprawl very well at all. I think their lack of wrestling is their biggest flaw and will always keep them from reaching their potential in the sport.
The Smokin’ and Stompin’ ain’t helping either.
by asa on Apr 19, 2010 9:38 AM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
Not at all
You do realize that Nick Diaz has lost to Sherk, Parisyan and Diego Sanchez, none of whom is close to the wrestler and grappler that GSP is. I like Diaz, but he needs to fight non-wrestlers. He should go to, and stay at, MW.
by The Darkness on Apr 19, 2010 10:03 AM EDT up reply actions
Did you watch those fights?
I still think GSP would likely win a fight against Diaz, but those fights that you named (which happened 4 years ago) are hardly evidence.
by Pantherhare on Apr 19, 2010 11:06 AM EDT up reply actions
What has changed since then?
He hasn’t shown any improved skills in terms of takedown defense or the ability to get back up since leaving the UFC, mainly because he hasn’t fought any wrestlers since leaving the UFC. I see no reason to believe that the same thing won’t happen to him now that happened to him then.
he was a kid!
he was a 21 yr. old kid when those guys beat him, his body hadn’t even fully matured yet. Diaz is a 27 yr. old full grown man now! none of those guys could beat scott smith the way diaz did, he owned him. he destroys all of those guys now, no controversial decisions! he has the best boxing in the game today, and his jits has always been incredible. he KO’s any ww standing, and subs any ww off his back. sure gsp takes him down, but he could keep gsp off him by going for subs, then with his long limbs he would give gsp fits when he postured up
diaz
i am a big a fan of the diaz brothers but he is too high right here. 1st how can someone be ducking you when you don’t fight in the same promotion then secondly as much as i would like to see that fight GSP would more than likely handle him easily with his legendary wrestling
by Dr Tyronious on Apr 19, 2010 3:41 PM EDT up reply actions
LOL at Nick’s sprawl.
GSP would wrestlerape him.
by Steve4192 on Apr 19, 2010 10:03 AM EDT up reply actions 1 recs
Sprawl? Really?
GSP took down Hardy at will. He put BJ on the floor. Alves, on the ground, all day long.
Diaz could sprawl with inspector gadget legs – GSP would simply pick him up and drop him on his hiney.
Diaz is a non-entity, because he can’t function without weed, and seemingly can’t function like a human being with it either, if Saturday night is any indication.

It would be a massacre, Nick is just another fighter that has been outside the UFC too long and has gotten some wins over below average fighters that make him think he is the best. He would get murdered by GSP. How do you go from fighting guys like Scott Smith, Frank Shamrock, and Zeromskis to calling out GSP???? That is a UFC wash out, an Old ass man, and a very small overrated welterweight.
If he did want a fight with GSP, he needs to get his shit straight and sign a contract. If he can get past guys like Alves, Fitch, Koscheck, Daley, Rumble, Paulo, Yoshida, and Diego then he can get a shot. Don’t win a bunch of bullshit fights and think your the best thing ever. Almost all of the worlds top welterweights reside in the UFC.

Thank you. That’s basically the sentiment that I get every time I hear someone start comparing fighters that left the UFC in the middle of the pack to be the top competition on another promotion against the top competition in the UFC. Yeah I may sound like a UFC nuthugger but there is a much more diverse pool of fighters in the UFC where its hard to make it to the top without fighting against a majority of the styles of fighters there are.
There are a few exceptions from Strikeforce that I think would be competitive. Gilbert is one but I think he’d lose to Pen, Florian, Edgar, and Maynard. Shields would be competitive but will probably lose against the ATT crew or GSP. In the middle weight I would be interested to see him against Maia, Marquart, and Sonnen. I think he’d come out 50/50. He’d pose about the same threat Sonnen does to A Silva. Maybe even more so since he is much better at submission defense.
Nick Diaz would have about as much success as his brother is having in the UFC. He’d be competitive but lose to the best of the wrestlers. I think he is craftier then his brother and if given the same competition I think he would have won some of the split decisions his brother lost.
God, drives me crazy trying to listen to him talk.
Though I think GSP would destroy him.
And he said “Dana just needs to tell him what to do or not to do” if he wants him…probably pass drug tests would be one big thing. Not start brawls in the arena another.

The Shakespeare of MMA: Nick Diaz
If only someone could do a Chappelle-esque skit in the same vein as the Lil’ Jon skit…have the person playing Nick Diaz ramble on and say you know 147 times only to, at one point, put on a most eloquent speech with perfect grammar, only to blow it all at the end by saying someone is ducking him and calling them a punk bitch.l
....
I used to like the Diaz brothers, but they crossed the line with that mess Sat night.
THAT CRAP HURTS ALL OF MMA!!!
THEY SHOULD BE SUSPENDED FOR 1 YEAR.
I am interested to see if Nate gets any punishment from the UFC. I kinda wonder how Dana feels about it. I am sure he’s laughing at Strikeforce’s misfortune but at the same time may want to put in the self righteous image and make an example of Nate. I wonder if Nate is favored enough by Dana to be protected or if he’d be used to make an example of non-tolerance by the UFC.
A fighter like GSP would have his way with Diaz Standing or on the ground. Nick might survive but he would come out of that fight looking worse then Fitch did when he fought GSP So the hell with fighting GSP I think all these UFC WW’s beat Nick – Alves. Fitch, Kos, Hardy, I even think Swick, Hughes, Daley and even Marcus Davis all have a great chance also.I did not mention Diego or Karo becasue both fighters already beat him. His wrestling and take down def is just horrible really really bad. So anyone with a half way decent shot and wrestling back ground will just take him down and if they can stay on top and defend subs which I think his guard is so overrated buy people to begin with you can ride out a one sideed decision. Just look at the success a mid size to small LW in Sean Sherk had when fighting Nick and Diego just smashed Nick with GNP from inside his guard same with Riggs. I do belive that Nicks Stand up is much improved but still any fighter with good stand up will destroy him and just see all the holes in his def on the feet just like KJ Noons and Gomi did until he gassed. I do think Nick is a solid fighter and will always be inside to top 15 at WW but he is not a Elite WW fighter and I don’t think ever will be ?
Lol I heart Diaz but that was funny. I thought he was gonna end the interview with Forrest Gump line.

Here's the cold hard facts..
Diego Sanchez’s wrestling> Nick Diaz’s wrestling
GSP wrestling>Diego Sanchez’s wrestling
GSP> NIck Diaz in every category, every day of the week and twice on Sundays..
People often times compare Nick’s success to GSP’s.. Well here is the truth and the difference.. Nick is fighting far inferior level of competition than GSP.. Strikeforce, Dream, etc.. None of them house the best LW’s or WW in the world..
As evident, look how both Gomi and Ayoki faired against legit competition.. Sure Nick Diaz looks good beating up Frank Shamrock (who was relevant in the 90’s).. Nick got worked in the UFC by far less talent than current just 5 short years ago.. Nick is a great talent and would do well in the LW division.. But the WW’s would pretty much over power him in the UFC..
Penn vs. Nick Diaz would be a better more suited matchup than GSP.. GSP is too strong and to much for Nick Diaz..

Sorry but Nick Diaz has better BJJ than GSP. You will never see Nick Diaz fail to submit a guy with locked in subs.
Also when was the last time you saw GSP pulling off gogos against MMA legends?
When was the last time Diaz was fighting a great wrestler ??
The question goes both ways..
Nick’s BJJ is really good.. But you act as if that means anything when you can be dropped on your back and held down while being pounded on??
Did the Diego Sanchez fight not show you enough of that ?? Or how about Lesnar overpowering Mir and holding him down ??
GSP would maul Diaz in every sense of the word.. GSP.. a guy that ran through both Fitch and Alves.. would have trouble with a guy half their strength ?? lol

I didn’t say anything about Diaz being able to do anything to GSP. You said GSP is better in every single area and I disagree.
Sure.. You make a valid point..
:)
I’ll just say that GSP’s defensive BJJ is better than Diaz’s offensive BJJ.. So it likely would be a none issue in the fight..
Unless Diaz threw a hail mary heel hook ala Chonan.. I don’t think his BJJ is enough to do anything to GSP in an MMA fight, leaving GSP better in all areas of the fight in that regard..

He may have better BJJ submissions than GSP but not better BJJ, where positional dominance counts for just as much as great submissions. GSP would easily be a contender at ADCC. As good as his BJJ is, Diaz would likely not be.
by The Darkness on Apr 19, 2010 10:06 AM EDT up reply actions
I have a hard time believing the guy who fails to finish locked in armbars and kimuras would easily be a contender at ADCC, but if you’re saying he can lay on top of dudes until he wins I probably wouldn’t disagree with you.

If following up a spit decision win over Mike Aina and a loss to KJ Noons with SIX consecutive victories, capped off with back-to-back-to-back wins over Frank Shamrock, Scott Smith, and Marius Zaromskis, isn’t enough to be top 10 p4p and earn the right to call out GSP, then I don’t know what is.
haha.
not sure if i read that right. did you just say beating scott smith (he’s ok), frank shamrock (old spice), and marius zaromskis (who?) earns a spot in the top 10 pound for pound category? please. if you’re barely in the top 10 in your weight class, you’re definitely not in the top 10 pound for pound. no doubt he’s good, but he ain’t that good.

Is he stupid?
He knows what Dana means.
How about this. Stop smoking weed. You dicked SF by not showing up for a drug test.
Imagine that happening if the UFC set up a huge GSP vs Diaz fight and it didnt happen?
Stop doign dumb shit, jumping Miller, yeah that looked good.
He can talk shit and could hype fights, and he is a good fighter, but he is a risk.
Frankly why would anyone talk about him vs GSP now, he hasnt beaten anyone. Zaromskis?
Come on. I’m not even sure he could beat Fitch, Alves, Kos.
I think Daley would knock him out.
And lets be honest what he is saying about Dream.
WHat he means is, in Dream you dont have wrestlers that can take you down and pound on me, they are smaller fighters from Japan who will fight him and who he is bigger, has bigger reach and is better at boxing.
In the US, guys like Fitch, Kos, GSP, they are bigger, stronger and great wrestlers, who could take him down and pound on him.
Yeah the shit about taking your money in Japan I like.
But really we saw it with Aoki, he got dominated by being taken down etc. in the US, in the UFC you have guys that are big, strong wrestlers, in Dream you have guys that arent wrestlers, arent bigger than him etc.
Thats probably why he likes it.
That and no drug testing.
