There's nothing more irratating then listening to a "disgusted" play-by-play guy announce.
See: Buck, Joe
just 'cause you pour syrup on shit, don't make it pancakes
I didn’t even think of that. Ranallo’s little rant is reminiscent of Buck’s Randy Moss mooning tirade. Tiresome.

Mauro Ranallo’s my least favorite part of every Strikeforce event, I try to take note of how many mistakes he makes on each broadcast, but i quickly lose count…

I can't stand Ranallo
This guy has been a part of MMA for how long now? Somebody needs to show him his “game film” and teach him when to shut his mouth. He is the king of hyperbole, but he doesn’t just say it once, he repeats himself over and over as if Gus and Frank didn’t hear him…They’re just trying to ignore it and hope the people at home do too.
If you ask him, he’ll tell you he not only knows every strategy that would make a fighter successful (constantly shouting what fighters should do “oh, I need to get off my back right here? Thanks for the tip Maruo.”)
Mauro constantly sees things differently than they actually happen, and spends the rest of the fight trying to massage it into reality, rather than just letting his mistakes go.
Gus does his job, Frank knows the sport, but he knows the fighters a little too personally to be objective, but Mauro is just an idiot.

The highlight for me was when Mo really needed to turn it on because he was running out of time with just the Championship Rounds left. Of a fight he was winning 29-28 on pretty much everyone anywhere’s score cards.
Mauro is honestly one of the worst in the business.

Mo was gassed, Mousasi was biding his time.
I love Mauro’s assessment that Mo was gassed after the first 3 minutes and Gegard was just waiting for his moment. Sure that might have been Mousasi’s game plan, but you don’t dominate a guy for 22 minutes after you’re completely gassed out. Did Mousasi think this was a 10 round fight? I think Mauro needs to add words like “might be” or “could be” when he’s making assessments . Say it once, move on. If he would do that, it wouldn’t seem nearly as bad when the fight contradicts what he’s saying.

UFC on Versus was pretty weird.

Not that I condone facism or any ism for that matter. Isms are in my opinion, not good. A person shouldn't believe in an ism, he should believe in himself.
I quote John Lennon, "I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me". Good point there, after all he was the walrus. I could be the walrus. Wouldn't change the fact I have to bum rides off of people.
lol thankyou. Someone got it.

mauro normally annoys the shit out of me but last night, espeically during the main event, he gets a pass (albeit by default) because of how shitty gus/shamrock were. Between shamrock slighting shields every move and bad mouthing him through the first half of the fight & gus explained that hendo – a life long wrestler and 30+ fight/10+ year mma vet is getting spanked because of a big weight cut. It was obvious they were trying to slight jake incase he leaves the ORG and mauro seemed to be the only one to not have an agenda for once.
Looks like Mauro had a ticket to the gun show.

Is this one of those “Jake Shield’s is hot” things or is Mauro Ranallo pushing the boundaries of sexual harassment in the workplace here?
So now the money-question is: Is it a really smart or a really stupid move to sexually harass someone who you know can dry hump anyone for at least 25 minutes without getting tired?

mauro
Mauros a great play by play guy IMO. Since the pride days its his voice that I remember during all those big “fewdor” fights. I think if they had mauro and shammy only, it would be a good team. But Gus and mauro are doing the same job. @ least mauro loves the sport and does know what he’s talking about. I think he’s better than goldy. It seems no matte who is commentating someones gonna hate them. All I know, is like I said, mauro is part of the business, knows how to cut a promo and know what he’s talking about for the most part. Its not his fault he’s constantly saddled with half wits like Gus Johnson and bill Goldberg, and whoever else the flavor of the month is. And he is unbiased 95% of the time, which is hard for any of the others to say. Also, he always gives HIS opinion, whether its popular, or right, or not. Just my opinion.

I actually like Mauro on play-by-play. He’s got his flaws, but he’s better than Gus (for MMA anyway). But you’re absolutely right about them doing the same job, which is causing conflict.

I will never understand why these guys think it’s beneficial to fill every second with commentary. It makes the things they say distracting and thoughtless, and it helps nothing. I really enjoy the sounds of the crowd and of the actual fight, but I’m forced to mute it every time. Maybe it’s just amplified because Strikeforce has two ‘play-by-play’ guys, but I think they’re both vacuous and relentless. I don’t like Goldberg either, but the combo in Strikeforce is the worst.

You must be out of your mind
Mauro is a toolbag in the highest degree. You’re looking at Mauro’s past fondly like an 80’s song, you can’t call it good, can’t really explain why you like it so much…you just had to be there.
Mauro is constantly getting things wrong, constantly overstating things, constantly stating the obvious with a passion.
Gus does the play by play much better than Mauro. Mauro can’t decide if he’s play by play or color. He bounces back and forth between the two and can’t seem to get either one right.
The King Mo vs Gegard fight was some of the worst commentary I’ve ever heard. Mauro kind of backed it off for the Shields vs Hendo fight, and it was a MUCH better call.

bi polar rock n roller
Maybe some of mauro rubbed off on me, I dunno. I don’t think he’s that bad, unfortunately he probably thinks he has to act like a tool and be over the top to get noticed in the over crowded commentary booth. I’m sure the only reason mauro spoke up at the end is to try and put an exclamation point on the fact that brawls like that have no place in mma. Its meaningless coming from Gus, who had already butchered that segment, and the previous one. If only mauro was interviewing shields in the cage, he could have took a “bump” and really made a spectacle out of it, lol.

It's kinda amusing...
…watching Frank and Mauro do commentary on a Cung Le fight. Frank gets plenty of time to spew his haterade, and Mauro would counter it all, but it’s kinda difficult to talk with Cung Le’s dick in your mouth.

Mauro is awful
Didn’t he essentially do what Miller did? Interrupt Shields so he could say something? Then the disgusting part for him was what Miller did, not that 8 guys jumped him.
At one point he was commenting on Shields improved striking because of how many punches he landed….it was GnP you moron!
I take it that you’re a pre-teen

Commentatin'
First off, three guys in the booth is way too many. Usually I like Frank “JAWS” Shamrock, but his antics during the Sheilds fight was way over the top. To me it seemed like he was trying to book his own angle w/ Sheilds in the hopes of creating interest for a fight. I actually don’t mind Mauro to be honest, but I agree with whoever said he can’t decide if he’s supposed to be the colors commentator. Gus can almost fake his way through a brodcast, but its when he does the post fight interview w/ a fighter in a cage (which should be easy compared to commentating) he completley flubs up. I still have no idea what the hell he wa trying to ask Fedor on the last CBS show.
One more thing… Mauro does a show in Canada called “The Score on MMA.” Its a decent show, but there is a comercial for it that has Mauro on a street corner. He’s plugging the show, and a guy bumps in to him. The guy apologizes, but Mauro won’t have it, so he chokes him out on the street. He then finishes plgging the show. I HATE THAT $&*@$ing COMERCIAL!!! It’s not the level of of Gus’ “these things happen in MMA” but nonethelessshows MMA in a bad light. Plus he looks like a dork in an Afliction shirt and suit jacket.
It looks like he is getting off!

Don’t forget during the intros when Gus told Shamrock to “watch out and don’t poke me with that thing!” WTF, gus? You don’t like MMA di%k? LOL!

Hanging On His Balls
That’s why Ranallo was hating on Miller saying what he did was disgusting when it was Melendez and Shields that initiated shit.
schiavello, bas and rogan
can an organzation please make this happen
i loved it
he called every one of mo’s punches weak and all of mousasi punches were power punches in his mind

Strikeforce needs something else…maybe three title fights in one night that all go to lopsided five-round decisions!
