Dana White reacts to the end of Strikeforce: Nashville

What a dunce. This looks bad on MMA, not just Strikeforce or CBS.

Just like he did after the last EliteXC fight/debacle. Heck White will probably end up on tv talking about how bad the brawl was himself and then he will point out that it wasn’t his company that allowed it to happen.
Well, antics like this are part of the reason why Nick Diaz isn’t with the UFC.

And I think we can stop wringing our hands about the future of MMA in North America. It’s here to stay, and a shitty card here and there isn’t going to end the party.

MMA in the USA is just fine
Strikeforce, however, better be able to survive on what Shotime is willing to pay and a gate of 6K per event, because they won’t be on CBS again.

Come on now…. so your just going to call him a dunce because he tweets a smiley face.
Maybe it was a smiley face for Jake Shields beating Dan Henderson and knowing he is going to do everything in his power to sign Jake Shields. But yeah I know it’s Dana White so all assumptions of anything he does has to be the most negative thought you can have.
Just BE.

Maybe his wife tweeted him she loved him and he tweeted her a smiley face. Hell he could have been tweeting a smiley face to all the UFC fans thanking him for the UFC 110 PPV on Spike.
I was just throwing something out there as a possibility. At least I’m not automatically assuming something and then slinging names. Now granted it may come out he was smiling about something that was stupid but to pass that judgment without seeing more than just the smiley is what is a stretch.
Just BE.
again this assumes dana cares about "mma" in the grand sense
he doesn’t. this will impact strikeforce far more negatively than the ufc, and maintaining the supremacy of the ufc brand is more important right now that the overall growth of the sport.
Dana cares about The UFC more than he cares about MMA
There’s a difference. And you’re naive if you think this won’t hurt the UFC just as much as it’ll hurt Strikeforce. MMA = UFC in the publics eye. I guarantee the media will refer to it as Ultimate Fighting instead of Strikeforce.

it will impact the ufc, no doubt
but seeing strikeforce fail would have an even bigger impact.
"hurt the UFC as much as itll hurt Strikeforce"
Puh-lease.
Strikeforce is dead in the water. UFC will continue to make bank. This will only stunt growth. for the UFC if anything, it definitely won’t aide in their losing customers. Spike’s still gonna be on board, MMA isn’t going to lose sanctioning anywhere or anything, etc etc.
In the big scheme of things, this is basically nothing but an opportunity for those who already hate or sport to say, “I told you so.”
IMHO, anyways

I don't think this has the potential to hurt the UFC as much at all.
Strikeforce just potentially had it’s last show on CBS, this would be a pretty major step back for them. The UFC may catch some flack by default, but their business is probably going to keep powering along same as usual. The UFC is considerably stronger than Strikeforce plus they have the luxury of this event not technically happening in their organization which people will be pointing out at least somewhat frequently if not all the time. This looked bad yeah, and the typical haters will use this as ammunition but it’s not like this has the ability to shut down MMA in general.
"With great power comes great responsibility" -Spiderman's Uncle
I think this could have a negative impact on the UFC
Zuffa wants the UFC more mainstream, going so far as positioning itself with Versus. Big time networks may be a little more hesitant in agreeing to terms with UFC after this incident. It could even financially impact any potential deal if MMA as a whole takes a hit in the public’s eye (which it undoubtedly will with the not so casual fan).
On Zuffa’s side of the arguement, though, is that they’ve never had anything like this happen; and I wouldn’t doubt it if we saw a little added security around the octogon for future events, just in case.

Those were decision wins but didn’t have street fight break out during the post fight interveiws. That was horrible for strikefoce on national tv. Also Dan is a former ufc middleweight and his loss will not affect the ufc just like arlovski or Tim silvias losses didn’t.

If you honestly think the UFC and MMA is finished because of this situation you aren’t a true MMA fan and shouldn’t even be in this sight. Every sport has fights. Basketball, football, hockey, every sport. It honestly looked a little rigged and CBS could have immediately cut that from the show if they wanted. They even showed replays if it so they couldn’t of that it was that horrible.

I was willing
to let those earlier pics and gameplay videos slide since people were saying it was still in the developing stages, but what I saw tonight looked just awful. Undisputed may look similar to the first, but at least it’s a slightly improved version of the first which was already highly entertaining anyway.

VOTE
I would love to get a vote on who was at pure fault for the physicality post-Shields Fight:
Shields’ camp
OR
Mayhem
I love me some me.
Mayhem was at fault.
Mayhem should have never interrupted Jake Shields. That was the biggest win of his career and he deserved the spotlight to himself.
Just BE.
Sheilds camp where the one’s that threw the first blows, no matter what douchey thing somebody does unless they physically come at you first you cant just have a five guy mugging and expect to be in the right, and no Mayhem putting his arm around Sheilds doesn’t count.
"With great power comes great responsibility" -Spiderman's Uncle
So if it was a one guy mugging that would be ok? How many guys reacted is irrelevant, Miller shouldn’t of been there and Shield’s corner should of just got security to toss Miller out of the cage instead of pushing him(assuming there actually was any security around to keep this kind of stuff from starting).
Blaming Miller for this one is pretty off. He was being a bit of a jackass, but so what? He isn’t responsible for the actions of other people, especially if those people are named Diaz.
and should have (or should’ve) not “should of”
I’m not trying to be a dick, but it’s impossible to not look like a dick when you are correcting someone’s grammar.
Hey Pete
R.I.P.
Yep, Mayhem shouldn’t of been jumped like that but then he shouldn’t of been there to start with either. If he’d not stuck his nose in and made an ass out of himself then there would of been no brawl at all. Both were at fault for the end product but if it wasn’t for Miller’s actions there would of been no brawl at all. Miller had no business being there or sticking his nose into the interview.
First thing
it wouldn’t have been okay if it was one on one but you cant deny the fact that five guys all jumping on one is somewhat worse. Secondly Mayhem does not at all share the same amount of responsibillity for a brawl that he did not initiate, just going in the ring and stealing some thunder should not register as “okay now this guy deserves to be jumped by a group of fighters.” Yeah it was goofy and a stupid thing for him to do, but as far as whos responsible for the violence its the people that reacted violently to a passive situation.
"With great power comes great responsibility" -Spiderman's Uncle
He initiated it just by sticking his nose in and trying to steal the mike from Jake Shields, good grief he had no reason to be there and was looking to cause trouble, he doesn’t get a pass on this crap. It wasn’t a passive situation he pushed Shields out of the way and tried to take the mike in the middle of an interview, it was a guy trying to cause trouble. Yes the brawl shouldn’t of happened but Miller shouldn’t of been in the damn cage to start with and if he wasn’t there would of never been a brawl at all. You can’t give the guy a pass when this entire thing started with him being a dick.
I don't excuse him at all
I said it was a stupid thing for him to do, but it’s the fault of the Shields camp more than anybody since they were the ones throwing. And I also think your exaggerating as far as Mayhem “pushing” Jake out of the way.
"With great power comes great responsibility" -Spiderman's Uncle
Mayhem probably shouldn’t have gone where he wasn’t invited; stuff like that should be planned by the promoters.
But Shields did tap him on the stomach and say “ask this guy”. And I think if they had just told him to “earn his rematch” or whatever he would have just gone away. There was no reason to jump him and start a brawl.

Im calling it. Probably the end of the road for strikeforce. CBS will pull it when the contracts are up and they won’t be able to pay fighters with just Showtimes budget. Strikeforce will collapse like the rest and Dana will pick up the scraps. Now its inevitable.
but then where will fedor sign
where he can avoid juicers AND brock/carwin/velasquez? or maybe m-1 will finally step up and be the big time promotion they keep assuring us they are.

the ufc can weather a storm of 112’s magnitude. it’s not certain strikeforce can survive this.
It helps that Strikeforce just went and made 112 look like the height of professionalism.

i mean, think about it
this event positively showcased two fighters that may soon sign with the ufc, it made hendo look bad and it may have even killed strikeforce, it made it look bad at the very least. AND it knocked ayoki down the lw rankings. there was a lot to make dana happy with this show.
Honestly
it’s almost as if Dana planned it himself. Poor production, mind numbing commentary (when you make people miss Goldie you know you have a problem, weak performance by all the right fighters not associated or to be associated with the UFC, and on top of all that every bit of footage from the new EA game looked super weak. Even without the brawl this was a bad night for Strikeforce and potentially their last show on CBS regardless.

UFC 113 and UFC 114 will do bank. UFC is fine.

That show was a joke on so many levels.
Oh my god, heres my question, where is the outrage?
Where is Kid Nate? I mean had this been in the UFC, that show, like 112, which lets be honest, wasnt as bad as this card, had more fights, and didnt have the most disgusting brawl on network tv happen, and yet you trash 112, UFC, and Dana white for it.
So where is the SF bashing? The show sucked, the matches were boring, Mousasi is the most overrated fighter, and I’ve been saying it forever, I never thought Aoki was shit, guy has nothing but subs, he couldnt beat BJ, Florian, Edgar, probably not Maynard, Tyson, Sototropolis etc.
The main event, Dana must be loving Hendo getting dominated by a WW. SF lost in so many ways, there big hyped Mousasi just resigned, he lost and was exposed, there big new star Hendo, big contract, just, Jake upped his stock and probably and hopefully will come to the UFC.
And then the brawl.
Now if that happened in the UFC, this site would blame Dana white, why you ask, cause they would say Dana and the UFC allows people, other fighters, people who arent in either camp, arent corner men, officials etc, they allowed someone else into the ring, now you can say in the UFC that is planned, they tell Rashad to go confront Page, ok, thats staged shit, not what happens is staged, but it is set up, but then atleast you know its coming and can control it, guys wont go crazy.
This, Miller came in, tried to steal some of Jakes spotlight like a dick and Gilbert started it, and the Diaz brothers started this shit.
Had this been in the UFC, it would be Dana getting slammed for allowing Miller to even get into the cage, but since it happened in SF, seems like it didnt even happen.
Shit, there would be 10 articles about how the UFC is bad for the sport, embarrassed the sport, how Dana should be fired, he caused this etc.
But man.
You have everything go as wrong as possible. Mousasi resigns, lost, was exposed, top LHW my ass. boring fight. Aoki was so overrated, and Gilbert didnt look that good to me, he look solid, but his boxing didnt look that sharp, I think a top LW would have finished that fight.. And the poster boy Hendo, big contract, comes in to be the new champ got dominated big time,
Fights werent good, guys SF wanted to win like Henod and Mousasi lost, and then the brawl.
It made the sport look so bad, and for people who saw that for the first time, its a shame they think this is the UFC, when its clearly not.
Thats why i dont get it, if it wsa the UFC this site woudl be attacking the holy shit out of them for this embarrassment, but it was SF so they get a pass?
Poor announcers, production, brawl, it was a total wreck for SF.
I dont see how CBS puts this back on tv. if they dont, and they only are on showtime, will they survive?
Can they survive the big Fedor and Hendo deals, Diaz making 100k etc fighting only on Showtime?
Maybe a venture into PPV?
Thats the only way.
PUt Fedor, Hendo, Diaz, Mousasi, Mo, everyoen on a PPV and hope 400k people buy it if they stack a card.

I agree with you on most part, but Mousasi did well imho. Oke maybe he is over-hyped but he fought hard and King Mo grinded and rode this match out. Mousasi is also to blame for one dimensional fight, he did the same as he predicted King Mo would do; “fall back into what you know” (and witch King Mo did), up-kicks and triangles, what he did to Manhoef and Jacare :). I more see this fight as a draw (excluding the kick to the face of a downed opponent)
