Tyson Griffin would rather Anderson Silva punch an unconcious man than showboat.
I like that guy.

I am bothered.
How can one be honestly excited at what Silva did during the first 2 rounds? Silva openly disrespected Maia in rounds 1 and 2, and personally , in no fucking way I was entertained by that.
I am. I think. I will. - Ayn Rand
Imposing his will
Generally requires the displacing of your enemy’s sense of self empowerment. He used it to both draw Maia into attacking him by rushing for takedowns while he counter-struck. He didn’t land combos, but he got Maia to come in and demoralized him. This game is mostly mental/emotional.
Look at what happened to Forrest – he lost all hope.
because it’s not possible they actually thought the fight sucked and Silva was acting poorly in it?

I love how guys like Amir and Frasier dont have a strong negative opinion about the fight but Pyle and Kampmann who are living on borrowed time bash Silva.
Because if Amir and Frasier had strong negative opinions that were the same as Dana’s they would be in hot water with Dana??

Maybe they were kissing Dana’s ass by not burning Fatheads of Anderson Silva in effigy or wiping their asses with Silver Star Walkout Shirts.

Did the word “effigy” confuse you?

I'm no grammar expert
but I think it can be written together, or it’s commonly written together.
Don’t let anger get in the way of comprehension
Ray Sefo was calling that fight doodo….enough said.
Get over it Silva fanboys, what he did was bad for the sport. If he wants a challenge so be it, but finish Damien early then give DW a reason for him to headline a PPV. His performance was bad business, for him and the UFC. Is it cool that KImbo Slice is a bigger draw than the Spider? Anderson….the ball in is in your court.
The more you drive, the less intelligent you are.
You ever seen this Sefo fight?
Seriously defend what Silva did….and explain to me how that was beneficial to Silva’s Career and his potential earnings in MMA. It might have been amusing to you, but it left a nice skid mark on the underpants of the UFC. Face it Silva is not a huge draw…and the UFC would sure as hell not fold it he was cut. He could finish his career fighting in SF or Dream but the UFC would skip a beat w/o him. I think his best option would to fight Fedor…if it was possible. Have some vision…Coleco.

The more you drive, the less intelligent you are.
Nice picture. And yes I have seen Sefo fight. Your point?
And if you are curious on why I think this fight benefits Silva, check out my amazingly ingenious Fanpost on the subject.
Don’t ever compare Silva to Ali….Anderson couldn’t sell water to a man dying of thirst. The whole boxing match with a burnt out RJJ irks me too…why not call out someone who is at the top of his game? AS is a guy who has painted himself into a corner. He is certainly not THE money maker of the UFC…not even close. If Fedor was signed tomorrow AS is easily expendable, or he moves to HW. Extremely talented guy who is misguided by poor management. Even Wandy and Big Nog try to speak english, and are building a brand for themselves. Sefo is a warrior…AS is an artist…artists die of obscurity…
The more you drive, the less intelligent you are.
1) I will make comparisons where I see fit. And Ali to Silva fits for me.
2) He called out RJJ before his violent downfall, because RJJ was a fighter Silva always looked up too.
3) AS is more marketable than ever right now, he fight with Sonnen will be the highest PPV number of any event Silva has headlined.
4)How do you die of obscurity?
Sefo has jack
on A Silva. And dana will not release silva For every upset fan there is there would be many just as upset if silva left. Strikeforce getting silva is the last thing Dana wants.
I mean they did sign James Toney just so SF couldn’t get him for a quick payday. You really think the UFC would let Silva go? Not a chance. This all gets handled behind closed doors with Dana spinning all of his recent A. Silva Comments as “heat of the moment” and “him being the ultimate fan” followed by “Anderson Silva is the best pound for pound fighter in the world and the UFC is the best organization in the world. The UFC only wants the best and he is it”.
I would pay to watch Ali eat popcorn.
But I missed the last UFC – the first one I’ve missed in years – mostly because I figured BJ/Edgar was a squash and I have zero ZERO interest in watching Anderson Silva not fight in a fight.
Clearly I made the right call.
So you think people are going to pay $50 in numbers to watch Silva fight a humper? Not this little black duck.

Why is every single thing
that happens is “bad for the sport?” I think this phrase is as overused as the word “revolutionary”.

Long Island, New York...
He trained at Bellemore Kick Boxing Acedemy before leaving for Las Vegas.
I think he was from Freeport, not Queens
My mistake.
My friends from Queens have a similar accent.

Incredibly interesting..
after the fight my first thought was what would Xtreme Couture fighters have to say about this.

The excuses people will make up when their favorite fighter fucks up are pretty entertaining to listen to. The best thing about the Silva/Maia fight was it showed me how many nuthuggers there really are out there.
The best part of the “Silvagate” is that it showed how many grumpy people there are on BE.

"There are just so many poorly chosen words in that sentence." - Michael Bluth
One of my favorite lines from the best TV show ever.
Actually...
Griffin makes a good point.
Silva seems unwilling to power through, grit through, however you want to put it, through punches. He seems highly cautious about being punched in any circumstance, and that seems to be one reason why he jukes and jives and runs a lot in that fight.

He makes it sound like it’s a bad thing. Not getting punched in the face is a good thing. If you got skills to not get punched in the face – good for you.

Obviously Silva fought cautious for all of his career, so yeah, it’s not a revelation.
by dancingChicken on Apr 17, 2010 8:09 AM EDT up reply actions
No.
He basically makes it sound like he NEVER wants to get hit, and if you watch Silva… that’s basically what he’s doing. The problem is… you’re gonna get hit no matter what. And Griffin is basically saying that Silva doesn’t want any of that at all.
I actually think it’s valid.

I agree
It’s not like Maia had a lot of power, sometimes you just need to wade through the punches a little bit
Out of 1 million comments and posts, that’s the first time I’ve read that and I agree, it makes sense to me.
Perhaps my best years are gone. When there was a chance of happiness. But I wouldn't want them back. Not with the fire in me now. No, I wouldn't want them back.

Maybe I’m reading too much into it because of obviousness of what Griffin said. Silva never liked to get hit, and he even said it himself, but that fact didn’t stop him from knocking fools out.
So if Griffin is saying the obvious thing, then yeah, I agree.

if you wanna make an omlette you have to break a few eggs.
"When i get in there, in his face ,pressin the action,I'm RUFF NECKIN'EM,I'm throwin him around,I'm punchin him,hes punchin me, I'm eatin his shots and I'm Blastin him back in the face he's not goin to be able to handle it ." - Chris Leben on how his fight with Anderson Silva is gonna go.

I guess that means Silva is happy with unshelled hardboiled eggs.

Well Silva will enjoy being able to remember his name after he retires, while Mr. I get punched in the face for bonus money might not have as easy of a time.
The difference between Silva and Kalib Starnes:
Starnes was injured when he ran.
Silva was bored.
