I have brought up the arguement that Melendez and Alvarez should not be upper tier seeing as they only are highschool wreslters. Compared to the UFC guys with their big pedigree's no way they can they match up right? Wrong. Man did I learn alot while asking about this subject.

Maynard - D1 All American / Failed Olympic tryouts

Edgar - College wresling went nationals ( Division unknown? )

Griffen - Some Junior College before dropping out

Guida - High School

Sherk - Highschool

Joe Daddy - ???

Melendez - Highschool

Alvarez - Highschool

Those are the top wreslters I can think of at 155. One thing to note the best wrestler also has the best pedigree ( Maynard )

One would think more times than not the better pedigree means the better wrestler.

So where the hell are all the D1 champs and Olympic level wreslters for 155? Is the LW division a hoax? I don't get it?

Even HW has at least one better pedigree'd wreslter in Brock Lesnar who was a D1 Champ Shane Carwin who was a D2 Champ, Cain  D1 All American..
