I hated how cocky Askren was as a wrestler
But it translates really well to soundbytes like this. Plus he’s representing NCAA wrestling and all that, yep, I’m a fan now.
Plus he has an entertaining wrestling style which is almost an oxymoron
Plus he’s got the whole Fedor-like soft frame/elite athlete contradiction working too.
Not afraid to nitpick
So when someone talks about his wrestling….he uses grappling chokes? Hate to split hairs, but wrestling never puts anyone to sleep, unless its a) a big slam in which the opponent, or wrestler is knocked out, or b) the crowd
He's a really good grappler
Did fairly well in ADCC where he seemingly just started doing jiu jitsu.

I think that's his point
People go into his fight expecting him to be just a wrestler, and he shows something else.

he also had a very very unorthodox wrestling style
so his version of wrestling is extremely different then what fighters usually expect
i like his chances to win this tournament and would love to see him in the ufc in the near future

Grrrr. If they say they’re going to show it on FSN, they should at least have the courtesy to show it live. No other sporting event would be tape delayed. It beats being on Desportes though.

MSG+ appears to be live tonight also.
The Rangers shitting the bed seems to have made it easier for them to get on live in NY, which is a plus.
Yeah, the markets that have hockey and baseball teams alive right now are really going to get fucked.
