Aside from the news that Dana White, and not Reed Harris will be promoting WEC 48, Joe Rogan announced on twitter that he and Mike Goldberg will also be doing the commentary for the promotion's first PPV venture.

I hope Rogan shows up stoned.

HUGE leg kick

I think even my leg kicks would make Joe go: “Huge leg kick”

ive been saying it forever

why not just call it UFC lite or UFC bushido?

by milk72 on Apr 14, 2010 10:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Why not just call it UFC?

You’d be merging 1 weight class and adding 2 more.

I wish they would. It would be great to add those guys to the UFC PPV mix all year and get their big names bigger exposure.

And I always thought it was weird that they have an overlapping weight class with the UFC when it’s the same company.

Thank you!!!

So I guess they are finally absorbing the WEC just without announcing it. At least the WEC on PPV. Haha!

Will Sir Bruce Buffer grace the mic?

by DamnSevern on Apr 14, 2010 9:51 PM EDT reply actions

Has anyone heard this Goldieism yet?

I think it was at UFC 102 but there is video afloat where he says “LEG KICK TO THE MIDSECTION!”

They will enhance the WEC broadcast. Definitely.

hahaha i haven’t heard that one! it’s a good on though.

by castleeb on Apr 14, 2010 10:28 PM EDT up reply actions

he’s been doing that forever. im actually surprised that he’s never said “facepunch to the body.” i’ve heard him say “leg kick to the head” even. it’s pretty incredible how the guy literally never improves his commentary, and he’s clearly just pretty dumb. very Ron Burgundy-esque, completely reliant on the mic in his ear. You never hear on other sports any announcer throwing out the sheer volume of incorrect shit that Goldie does. I really think he needs to go, and soon. it’s embarrassing. he’s like one of those dolls you pull the string and has like only 5 phrases it can say. sometimes he can be entertaining, but his on air personality just feels so campy and manufactured.

This may be an incredibly dumb noob question about WEC...

but it has a 155 division, right? Are Ben Henderson, Jamie Varner and Don Cerrone nowhere near the top 10 overall in the 155 class? Does Henderson even rate a shot at a shot at a title fight if WEC merges with UFC?

How does that champ feel? I’m the LW champ!! just not the real one!! (Just like Frankie Edgar!)

We should just call it the UFC, right?

I think this is a great move as it will make the casual(buy some UFC PPVs and watch some free WEC but not hardcore fans) fans more comfortable hearing announcers they recognize and they’ll associate WEC with the UFC which in no way can be a bad thing.

Plus even when I can only hear Stephan Bonnar I still picture his creepy ass face staring at me so I’m glad he’s not calling these fights
